I am trying to find out if it is safe for my apple keyboard and magic mouse if i user rechargeable batteries. I am having issues find a straight up yes or no.
Does anyone know. Just a quick answer would be awesome..
I did a brief search and couldn't find anything.
But I was wondering if it was possible to buy more of the batteries with out the charger? I know the generic consensus is that they are just re-branded Eneloops, but it'd be nice to have all the batteries be the same.
My magic mouse and keyboard both were not working. I pulled the battery cover over the mouse and saw that the Apple supplied batteries made quite a nice mess inside it. Did the same to the keyboard and there is a nice mess in there too. In both devices one of the batteries exploded. I was able to clean the keyboard a little bit and it will turn on, but the mouse will not. I got both of them with my 27" iMac I got a few months ago. Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know if Apple will replace the mouse for something like this?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless keyboard that came with my iMac in late 2007, and a magic mouse I just bought last year. The last few months I can't keep them charged. I bought new batteries, didn't help. I realized I have had the same charger for a number of years, so I bought a new one, didn't help. I bought brand new non-re-chargeable batteries, I put them in and they work at least but I immediately get the warning that they are critically low.

My battery for my 12" Powerbook G4 is munted and i need a new one. There are a few around for about $90AUD from 3rd party re-sellers which is less than half the $200AUD apple want for a genuine battery.
So i'm just wondering, has anyone got any recommendations about 3rd party batteries? i know it will probably vary a bit depending on where they're from, but i spose i'm just wondering if its worth the extra $100?
My mouse has new batteries, it is in discovery mode, but wont' connect to the mac.

Well I finally found the best batteries for this hungry mouse. Its Energizer Ultimate Lithium Digital. After 10 days of quite a lot of computer use, they are still showing 100%! The normal batteries show around 70% or less after 10 days. [URL]

I was thinking of purchasing an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and an Apple Magic Mouse. I'm absolutely sure it'll be a wise investment, and an awesome Christmas gift. My current Mighty Mouse is quite horrible, I don't even have the ability to scroll up. Of course I don't bother to waste my time cleaning it. Oh well, they don't have a scroll bar for nothing.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if my Mac has the proper capabilities to enable usage for the wireless perpherials I'm planning to buy. This is somewhat how my Mac looks, though I'm running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (I purchased the disk). I believe my computer has Bluetooth, there's an Icon for it in System Preferences. In my System Profiler, it also has a Bluetooth tab (here's the information is shows, I just cropped out some info. at the top, and my name).
How do I know if my Mac is set for these two items?Looking forward to your responses.
Black is the new black. Its time Apple release a black keyboard and mouse. Again. Not the old clear plastic one... though if I could find that, I'd probably get it all the same.

Now I'm going to get a new iMac soon, and I'm wondering what the cord lengths of the keyboard and mouse are. I'm wondering if it's worth my money getting a Bluetooth set instead, or if they're long enough, just digging up the odd USB extension cable around. The new iMac would likely be sitting about 1.5 metres away from my bed...so yeah. How long are the cords?

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro has the most annoying problem. Sometimes, in a totally random fashion, my bluetooth mighty mouse and apple keyboard just freeze. Bluetooth shows them as connected but they do not respond. Sometimes redoing the ?set up a Bluetooth device? option works but other times the computer refuses to see the devices and only a restart, followed by the setup assistant will fix the problem. Am I the only one with this problem or is it common? Hardware or software? Any fixes?
btw, I think it started doing this since 10.5.7 so I would say it is software...
I've been trying for a bit as I've just installed my boot camp partition, and it seems neither device will connect to the computer.

Ever since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?

Batteries used to last months. Now, a week - max. I'm talking about the small Bluetooth Apple wireless keyboard with no right-hand numeric keypad.
It has been this way as long as I've had the Magic Mouse - if I change the batteries, it won't re-connect. I must plug in a USB mouse and manually connect the Magic Mouse. This is on a relatively recent 24" iMac. Am I doing something wrong?
PS: I think at some point in the past I made the mouse a Favorite in trying to fix this.
1) Are there any plans from Apple to produce a WIRELESS keyboard WITH keypad? To be specific: a new keyboard with the exact same interface/layout of the regular keyboard with numeric keypad, only WIRELESS.2) Is the Wireless Apple Mouse (AKA Wireless Mighty Mouse) now officially discontinued?3) I was told here that the discontinued Apple Cinema Display HD 23" monitor had an update in fall 2006. I need more rechargeable batteries as I've used up all the ones that come with the Apple charger. Since Apple doesn't sell them separate I'm just wondering if I go get some Sanyo batteries will they work for sure with my Apple charger since they are similar or is there a chip in them to stop them working with 3rd party batteries like on a notebook battery?
I recently changed the batteries on my wireless Apple Keyboard. When I turned the Mac back on the keyboard wouldn't connect. Confused, I went in to system preferences where I got this message. View 12 Replies View RelatedI picked up a pair of the apple batteries/charger for use with my magic mouse and wireless keyboard. I still had some juice in my current batteries so charged each set of two batteries for 24 hours and then put them in a drawer. Fast forward two weeks and my magic mouse has reliably run out of juice and when I put in two of the batteries, my mac states the charge at 74%. I've read in some of the other posts that because of the way NiMH and alkaline batteries differ, it is normal to have slightly lower ratings, but 74%?????
Most people reporting stated they got 85%, has anyone else gotten 74% on first run?
Are these batteries defective or is there something about my charging routine that caused them to be so much lower?
I've read on the net that the batteries that come with apples charger are sanyo eneloops.
Does this mean i can buy a pack of eneloop batteries and they will work with my charger?
