I just purchased a seagate 1.5TB drive - can I put 2 partitions on it - one for time machine (mac formated) and one for Windows (NTFS formatted) will that work if connected to the Airport Extreme and if so how do I do that with the disk utility?

View 14 Replies View Relatedcan i use a HARD DISK with airport express? I love the airtunes, I think i will use it a lot. In another hand I also love time capsule, but I think that is too expensive. I really think that we can find more cheaper 500Gb or 1Tb now, and just because they added airport extreme in it, I don't think it has to be that expensive. Or another question : can I use airtunes with time-capsule or air port-express ? (because I think that we can conect a HD with airport express isn-it ?

I have recently purchased an Apple Airport Express and have successfully set up a wireless network, connecting AirTunes and my printer. However when reading through the manual (I know who reads the manual nowadays) i discovered something interesting. Chapter 3: Setting Up Your Airport Express, page 25, states the following, "If you connect a USB printer or hard disk to your Airport Express, all of the computers on the network can print to the printer or share files on the hard disk." The Apple website clearly indicates that sharing a Hard Disk through an Airport Express is not possible. Is my discovery a one of dodgy print of the manual or are other people seeing this as well? A possibility that Apple could be enabling AirDisk use on the Airport Express in the near future?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can not find documentation ANYWHERE that explains - specifically - how to configure my Airport Extreme to access the attached USB hard drive from the internet. Has anyone successfully done this? I would like to type in an address and have it go directly to the drive. I think I've done everything in the airport utility that I'm supposed to do, and I've set up a dynamic dns account and opened up port 80.

I've just bought an airport express so I can play music from my mbp wirelessly on my speakers and just realised that I have an old usb external hard drive that I never use so was just wondering if I could plug the hard drive into the airport express so I can use time machine wirelessly and make what is effectively a time capsule?

I noticed my 1st edition airport express has a USB port on for printing. If I plug in a HDD / Flash drive, is there anyway to turn it into a wireless hard drive, like the other airport extremes?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwith cloning/copying the content one an external hard drive onto a new external hard drive. Basically, I have a 500GB FW400 drive which I use to store my media files. It's full, so I purchased a 1TB FW800 drive to replace it. Obviously, I thought I could simply copy and paste the media files from the old drive to the new one.I cannot copy the media files to my internal drive first as my internal drive is only 250GB and nearly full itself.I have used Disk Utility to attempt to close the old drive to the new drive, but keep getting "insufficient space" errors.
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought 2 identical WD Scorpio Blue 1TB hard drives for my macbook pro 13 inch 2010. My aim is to replace the internal hard drive with one of the two I just purchased and use it as my system drive with Lion, Windows and Data partitions. And for the other hard drive I want to use it as a full disk back up for the internal drive (now 1TB hard drive). After I was done with setting up both windows and mac and data transfer, when I booedt into the recovery partition from the internal drive to clone the drive to the external drive, the disk utility gave me this error (Could not validate source - error 254). I also tried using Carbon Copy Cloner but it only could clone partitions, not the entire drive. Yesterday I downloaded a copy of Clonezilla. It worked fine until it had to clone an exFAT partition (my data partition). The exFAT partition appeared as 'RAW' partition in clonezilla. As a result, the whole partition appeared to be full and clonezilla had to copy every single blocks of data in that partition and the estimated time remaining was about 30 hours. So clonezilla is out too. Just want to ask if there is any program/application (bootable or not) which allows can do a full disk clone to an external hard drive.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.
Just a question for those who have used the Airports. Can a USB hub be used to expand the number of devices the Airport can use? i.e., an external hd, a laserjet, and an inkjet.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan it? If it can, would Airtunes still work like normal.

I've had a lot of problems with my iMac G5 power supply and since I have newer computers I've decided to get rid of this computer.Â
I want to save the hard drive and put it in a case, then use it as an external drive on my other Macs.Â
What sort of case do I need to shop for? Should I look for SATA or what exactly is the proper nomenclature.Â
Is USB 2 the preferred choice, or Firewire, or what? Is there a USB 3? I use a mid-2010 27 inch iMac with the intel processor, and I needed to buy an adapter to use my older Firewire external drive. Is Firewire a dodo?Â
I need to back up hard drive to an external hard drive. How can I do this automactically?Â
