MacBook Pro :: Lost IPhoto Pictures During Transfer?
my friends macbook pro needed to be upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6. I wanted to do A full upgrade because he was having some issues. I created a new partition on the main drive and installed snow leopard (with the leopard partition untouched) I then used the migration assistant to transfer everything to the snow leopard install. It transferred everything EXCEPT his iphoto library. But it deleted it on the old leopard install as well! (as if it transferred it). He said they were on his ipod, and I got some software to take them off his ipod without itunes since itunes HAS to sync. And as soon as i plugged it in, itunes started syncing the ipod, so i told it to stop, but it was too late and now all the photos are gone off his ipod.

Is there any software that can recover photos deleted off the ipod or even the old leopard partition?

So much for Apple being easy and "just working". Never gonna use the migration assistant again. Il just manually back up files or use carbon copy cloner. I am going to feel SO bad if the pics are gone.

MacBook Pro :: Transfer Music - Pictures And Preserve Playlists And Photo Albums
I finally bit the bullet on a new i7 15" MBP today to replace my dying 3.5 year old MB. I want to transfer my music and pictures from MB and also preserve my playlists and photo albums. I currently have a TimeCapsule as well. My current MB is "faulty" so I don't really want to copy over the drive per se, just the music / pictures. What's the easiest that I can do this? Sorry, I've never done this before and in the past I've just used an external HD and copied over the music/pic files but I lost the playlist/albums. It's over 3 years of work to redo, so to speak, and I want to see if there was an easier way to do this.

Aperture :: How To Transfer Pictures To New IMac
I just got a new iMac, and want to transfer all the photos from my old iMac. (I do not want to use Migration Assistant).

I have Aperture 2 (not the most recent version). Of course, I could export all of my photos and copy them over like any other files. But that wouldn't keep all of the edits I've made to many of the photos in Aperture.

What is the proper way to transfer everything over so that I have all of it, along with the current edits I see when I look at the photos in Aperture on my old iMac?

IChat AV 3 :: Cannot Transfer Pictures Or Files Using Bonjour
Ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard from Leopard, I cannot send pictures or files through Bonjour to my other home computer. When I drag an image, I see it in my window, but it shows up as an empty chat blob on our other iMac's screen. Everything else works (video, audio, screen share etc.). I've looked through my Linksys WRT600N settings, but I can't figure out how to make it work. I did port forwarding, static IP, but none of that did anything different. I know there is a way it works b/c the computers at Apple Stores work when I did a test file send using Bonjour on their network.

Hardware :: Transferring Pictures - USB Transfer Freezes
I'm having problems transferring photos from my camera to the computer. The transfer stops and just hangs there. I can't stop the transfer, unmount the CF card, shut down, or restart. The only way to recover is to hold down the power button and restart. The system does not freeze, just the transfer.

If I transfer all of my pictures at once, it usually hangs after about 150 pictures. If I transfer 300 or so pictures 10 at a time, it will hang a couple of times. However, while the computer is waiting on a hung transfer, I can start more transfers and those will work fine. After I "restart," I have no problem copying the previously-troublesome pictures.

This happens when I use iPhoto, copy using the Finder, or copy using Terminal. I have two CF cards, and it does this for both cards. (Before I use a card, I usually format the card inside the camera.) I have two readers, and it does this for both readers. It has to be a problem in the system somewhere.

I'm running 10.4.11.

OS X :: Transfer Itunes Library And Few Pictures And Files - Wrong Firewire Cable?
I wanted to transfer his iTunes library and few pics and files but I had the wrong firewire cable so I went ahead and setup his MBP for him. I now have the correct cable and need to use migration asst. to transfer the iTunes library and files. I tried once but ran into problems. I am transferring from an iMac running Leopard that has 4 user accts. The problem I had is that it tried to transfer all accounts! All I want is the iTunes library from his account and a few folders from his desktop. What do I select when prompted during the migration? Would it be easier to erase the hard drive and reinstall SNL from the cd and use migration asst. from the beginning? I have installed MS Office 08 and I can reinstall that as well.

OS X Leopard :: Can't Add Pictures To My List Of Desktop Pictures
I am using 10.5.8 and I just installed the security update. Ever since then, when I select ANY folder of pictures to add to my list of desktop wallpaper (under System Preferences), they DO NOT SHOW UP.

Worst yet, if I run repair disk permissions and even reboot, the folders will magically show up in the list briefly and then promptly disappear thereafter.

What is going on here?

To answer the obvious question, yes, the folders have pictures in the upper most immediate directory that is being selected. No, the folder is not a folder with other pictures folders inside it. It is one folder and only contains pictures (jpegs).

MacBook Pro :: Transfer Files To External HD -- Transfer Starts But Doesn't Complete
I have a 2011 Macbook Pro and an older (5 year old) Western Digital external hard drive. I have always used this hard drive for both mac and windows. Recently, however, whenever I go to transfer a file from the mac to the WD hard drive, the little transfer window pops up and it appears to initiate the transfer. However, it never fully starts it. It appears to "get stuck" in that initiating stage, showing zero of 3.16 gb transferred and shows an unknown transfer time. This happens no matter how long I leave it open. Again, I have used this external hard drive with my macs for the past 5 years without any problems until now. I haven't moved or modified the WD hard drive

IMovie 11 :: Added Pictures Show Up As Wrong Pictures?
I've been having this problem since upgrading to iMovie '11 where when I add a picture to my iMovie project, it shows up as a different picture then the one I tried to add? Backstory: I've been making this slideshow that is almost 6 minutes long that is covering the whole year so far and I have had no problems adding pictures and transitions until after upgrading. All of my pictures I am taking straight from iPhoto.

Basically I try to drag in the picture, then when I mouseover it in the timeline it shows up as a picture I had previously put in the slideshow. ALSO, when I play the movie, it shows up as the previous picture before it. Even when a transition was added, the transition didn't even happen. It just stayed the picture.

I hope this all made sense lol. I have had absolutely no problems that I couldn't fix right away with the new iLife '11 until now.

Final Cut Pro :: Unable To Transfer When I Logging And Transfer P2 Card Files In FCP 6.0.6
I have been trying for the past two week to Log and Transfer P2 files to my external hardrive using FCP 6.0.6 unsuccessfully.

Originally I tried to Log and Transfer directly from the Panasonic HPX-170 in between my shooting. The first time it was a success but from then on I always get the same Unknown Error when attempting to transfer. When I encountered the Unknown Error during the second transfer I went on to create folders with the P2 contents on my external Hard Drive.

When I drag any of the P2 folder content on the Log and Transfer window I can see all the clips. I can successfully transfer small B-roll clips I have but any big size file (all my interviews) return an Unknown Error symbol at the end of the transfer. I believe this is probably why I didn't encounter any issues during my first time.

I tried deleting the preferences in FCP and then Logging and Transfer and it works if the systems settings are set for the Mac Pro but not for the external HD. The problem is I don't have enough space on my Mac. I have cleared 45GB of space but my P2 files total 54GB. I tried the same process with a Mac Power Book with FCP 5.1.4 and again in encounter the same problem.

The external HD is a 1TB Western Digital that I have used before with FCP for editing but never before with P2 files. Its in good working order and has 79GB free space remaining. Both the camera and the P2 cards (16GB and 4GB) are also performing as expected.
