Hardware :: Installing A Magic Mouse On Windows 7 64-bit Through Boot Camp?

May 30, 2010

I recently purcahsed an Apple Magic Mouse to use with my MacBook Pro. I was able successfully pair and configure the Magic Mouse on the Mac OS X side, as well as use it on the Windows 7 partition through Parallels. However, when I try to use the Magic Mouse on the Windows side through Boot Camp, it doesn't work. When I select the option to add a new Bluetooth device in Windows, the Magic Mouse is not found, therefore, cannot be set up. I believe I have the most recent version of Boot Camp (3.1). The Windows OS has been completely updated as well.

Has anyone run into this problem? If so, is there a solution for it?

Hardware :: Current State Of Magic Mouse Functionality In Boot Camp?

May 20, 2010

I have for some time been looking for a bluetooth mouse for my MBP, but I am still stuck between the new Magic Mouse and Logitech m555b.

I will mainly be using it for travel/mobility use, as when my MBP is on the desk, I use my ageing - but loved - Logitech MX1000.

I am not a gamer. But I think that the ability to do 360 scrolling e.g. in Lightroom could be great.

I will mainly be working in Snow Leopard, but sometimes I might need boot camp for .NET development etc.

Does current boot camp drives support borth left and right click as it was a normal mouse on the magic mouse?

Is scrolling working? How is battery life?

Is there any way of invoking Expos or DashBoard on the Magic Mouse?

Price difference between the 2 mice is not important.

Windows On Mac :: Installing Boot Camp Drivers Without Installing NVidia Driver?

Jul 28, 2009

I just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.

But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.

OS X :: Slow Boot After Installing Windows Vista Using Boot Camp ?

Dec 25, 2008

This is the 1st time i got a Mac , i bought a black Macbook 2.4GHz some days ago .

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate using Boot Camp , and all went smoothly .

Only 1 prob is when restarting , i have to wait too long for the Windows to log on , i think about 1min with the black screen.

And if i want to boot in Mac OS , i have to push down the D button or the Alt, it takes quite a long time too .

So do you guys have any solution to this problem ? I want to get rid of the waiting time, way too much.

And do you know how to make my Macbook jump right in the choosing section when it starts ? ( so that i dont have to push down any button when it starts )

It's not a problem w/ my CD/DVD reader cause it appears on my comp that I have CD in. I have already updated my mac for all firmware and OS updates. I am using MacBook Pro 2009, BootCamp version 2.0, and Windows 7.

Windows On Mac :: Installing Windows Via Parallels Or Boot Camp Partition / Memory Required?

Sep 15, 2009

I just purchased a new iMac (2.66 c2d & 4gb of ram), Parallels 4, and Windows XP. I would like to get great performance whenever I use Windows XP and would like to know which installation procedure would help accomplish that.

Would Parallels provide me with a better user experience by installing Windows directly via Parallels OR by having Parallels utilizing a Boot Camp Partition? Which is better and why? Also, how much memory should I allocate to Parallels/Windows XP?

Windows On Mac :: Installing Parallels Tools While In Boot Camp Windows 7

Mar 2, 2009

I am trying to set up a Parallels 4 VM for a Windows 7 x64 Build 7000 boot camp partition, but parallels tools will not install. Half way through the process, a windows unsigned driver security box pops up, and when I tell it to install anyway, it still rolls back the installation process and I get the message "An error has occured while installing parallels tools, click OK to restart your computer and try again." or something to that effect. I have tried this about 15 times, and I have tried uninstalling/deleting the VM and re-creating the VM to no avail.

What I want to know: Is there a way to manually install Parallels Tools while running in the boot camp partition, just like installing any other application? I want to install it outside of Parallels, since for some reason it keeps screwing itself up when trying to set up the drivers as a VM.

Windows On Mac :: First Time Windows Installing Boot Camp And Parallels?

Feb 22, 2010

I have a 15" MBP. Hardware in my sig.

I'm getting Win7 this week. I'm getting it free from school and unsure at this point whether it will be 32 or 64 bit. That said, here's what I want to do with my setup.

1: School. I have to use Office 2007 for my classes. Office 2008 for Mac is not supported, because some of the formulas that you create in 2008 won't convert correctly into 2007 format and I can't have that. I will also use IE due to the fact that neither Firefox nor Safari will play my Mediasite classes correctly in Silverlight. Only IE allows me to speed up the playback. I am going to use Parallels 5 for this.

2: I game, but not much. The one game I love and will definitely put on my Mac is Morrowind. I want to use Boot Camp for this reason.

Soooo, I have been told that if I'm going to install Windows under Boot Camp that I should do that install first. Then install Parallels. I'm really not sure how to do any of this. I understand that I will only need to install Windows a single time and that it should work under with Boot Camp or Parallels.

i have the Boot Camp install PDF from the Apple site, but I'd love some tips, tricks, help, advice, words of wisdom, etc., from this forum. Please tell me what you think about which to install first, what approach to take, how much HDD space I should partition when I install under Boot Camp, etc.

Then if it doesnt then I would have to buy an anitvirus.

Windows On Mac :: After Installing XP - No Boot Camp Exe / Drivers

Apr 3, 2010

I have just got a new 15" MBP (2009/2010) and installed XP with boot camp. I have done this before on my MacBook White and iMac and had no problems but this time it has been a real pain in the neck. When I put in the MBP install DVD after installing XP I found it had no Boot camp exe or drivers? I got around this by using the DVD that came with my MacBook White which had Boot Camp and 99% of the drivers that I needed. The only problem I am having now is with the isight,Bluetooth and WLAN drivers, Does anyone know where I can get them?

Windows On Mac :: Installing 7 In Boot Camp/VMWare Fusion

Jun 14, 2009

Alright, so I've installed Windows 7 RC on my iMac with Boot Camp. Booting straight into Win everything works fine (I had some issues trying to connect my Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, but it's fine now). I have 3 issues:

1. Firstly, is there any way for me to access my files stored on the Mac partition in Windows (e.g. Music, Videos etc.)? I tried using HFS+ Explorer but it I get stuck at the 'AutoDetect Partition' phase because it says "No HFS+ Partition found". Any ideas?

2. Now I've also got VMWare Fusion running on my Mac, and when I start it, it detects my Windows partition and so I load Windows through it. The OS loads up fine, but for some reason it doesn't detect my WiFi adapter and so the Internet in Windows doesn't work (it works fine via Boot Camp). Is this normal (since maybe the WiFi is already connected through OS X so won't work in Windows at the same time)?

3. Lastly, I've installed the VMWare Tools in Windows, and it seemed to go on without a problem, but for some reason my 'Unity' option doesn't work. The button is there, but when I click it the Win7 window disappears. I figured, OK, probably just loading or something, but nothing happens. The VMWare main screen still shows that Windows is 'Powered On'.

Windows On Mac :: Can't Find Boot Camp After Installing Win7 X64?

Jan 3, 2010

So, I have a mid 2008 24" iMac (the one with the black plastic backing) with all the possible hardware upgrades available at the time. I recently upgraded Leopard to Snow Leopard, which went great, except it messed up Vista. So i deleted the partition and started over, only with 64 bit Win 7 (with a disc i bought from MS). Boot Camp 3.0 installed it just fine, except now that I'm running Win 7, Boot Camp is no where to be found so I can't access Snow Leopard in any way. I pop in the Snow Leopard disc and it simply says my computer model does not support x64 boot camp.

Windows On Mac :: Installing Windows XP Pro With SP3 Using Boot Camp

Mar 13, 2009

I bought a MacBook this week for the purpose of running Windows XP off a partition. I ran the Boot Camp Assistant, partitioning 15 gig of my 160 gig hard drive for the Windows OS. Boot Camp prompted me to insert the Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 installation disc I'm using, so I did. I followed the Boot Camp instructions exactly, and the installation seemed to be on its merry way ... until the screen indicated there were 33 minutes left.

With 33 minutes to go, the screen seemed to freeze (except that I could move the cursor/mouse) but the installation never advanced. I waited about an hour and it was the same, so I held the power button down and restarted the computer. It booted in Windows and tried to resume installation with 39 minutes to go. When it got to 33, it hung again. I've noticed other people having problems with this, but no solutions. Any ideas, folks? I want to be able to boot into Windows XP, not use Parallels or any other program.

Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp 3.2 Update Uninstalls Boot Camp On 2006?

Nov 21, 2010

In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.

So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

Windows On Mac :: Possibly Fatal Boot Camp Error / Unable To Boot Windows

Jul 14, 2009

In my attempt to install Windows XP via Boot Camp, I accidentally inserted an SP1 disc instead of the SP2 disc that I have. The installation proceeded to the point where it does for most who attempt this: the screen where you are prompted to press ENTER. I could not proceed and therefore restarted the iMac and held down the mouse button upon start-up to remove the CD.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM:I can not boot into OS X because the keyboard shortcuts (those that might allow me to select which partition to boot from and/or reset PRAM) seem to be disabled. Instead, a reboot always ends at a black screen with a blinking DOS-esque cursor, or the prompt: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key."

I have attempted inserting my SP2 disc at this point, to no avail. My keyboard seems to be disabled, as if the SP1 install proceeded just enough to establish itself as the boot drive without drivers for the keyboard. I've tried using all 3 USB ports, disconnecting other USB devices. Oddly, my bluetooth mouse works to eject the CD on reboot...

I'm a new MAC user and would need to install XP on my MAC. I'm sure there are thousands of threads out there about this but I couldn't find one. I've tried installing with Boot Camp and got Disk Error. Realised I had Service Pack One. The CPU then wouldn't boot properly as it looked for the WIN CD later so I have to hold down the Option key every time I boot up. I now have XP Pro with SP3 and have partitioned the space (20gb). Just don't want to mess it up so I'll wait for a reply here.
