Mar 23, 2009I'm considering running an HDMI cable around 50 feet as well as a toslink for audio from my macbook to HDTV.
Will this cable length reduce quality of either?

Mac Pro :: Hooking Up Early 2008 To TV With DVI-HDMI?
Dec 15, 2009I am interested in connecting my early 2008 Mac Pro to my HD TV so that I can easily watch iTunes movies stored on the Mac Pro on the TV.
I know the Mac Pro has DVI video out and the TV has HDMI video in, and that there are adapters between the two. Will this be as easy as connecting my spare DVI port to an open HDMI port?

Jan 8, 2009I bought a 32'' 1080p tv to be an external monitor for my IbookG4. I need to hook it up via HDMI to even get the 1080p. I bought a $100 converter to get VGA to HDMI output with HDCP. 1080 didn't show up on my list, and the highest I can get is 1280x1024. I then bought DisplayConfigX and installed to get the resolution, and i still get the same thing. My vid card is a ATIRadeon9700 pro mac edition, and should be able to go up to 1920. I've had a monitor hooked up via vga before that put out 1600x1100.

Oct 7, 2010Basic dumb question. My buddy has both a pc and a mac at work. He has music spread across both of them. What he'd like to do is colelct all his media files and put them on one external hard drive, then be able to connect both his PC and his MBP to the hardrive to access his music.
What would be the best way to do this? Is there something exceedingly simple like a hard drive with two USB outs that could feed both computers at the same time?

Dec 21, 2010I have a G5 dual 2.0 with 2gigs RAM and I am trying to hook up a samsung with a VGA adapter but I only get black screen....i know the monitor works cuz it senses when cable is unplugged and monitor now is my 50" sony tv which also works via the same port DVI. ANy ideas as I am lost . Just bought this powermac to run Logic 7 soley on its own and THAT is a pain! I might just keep my macbook pro as the unit to run Logic 9 and use the power mac for everything else.....
