I have a 24" LG monitor at 1920 x 1200 res. connected to my PC. I also have a mbp with specs in my sig.I bought the apple bluetooth keyboard as well as the mstand, so my goal is to hook up the mbp to the LG as either an extended or mirror it.
Just got the email from MonoPrice that their MiniDP -> DVI and MiniDP -> HDMI cables are available (still no mdp->VGA). I was going to get one, but I am getting a monitor with full size Display port so I just got their MiniDP->DP cable instead. Thought this might interest anyone needing direct to DVI or HDMI. If I decide to get one I'll post up with details. seems interesting that they don't have a picture yet, but it is only $15 so I imagine it isnt something with a big bulky adapter. to DVI: [URL]
I just tried using my Monoprice mini displayport to HDMI adapter with my 2010 MBP connected to my TV. Audio did not work.So I'm wondering if I'm missing a setup step on my MBP or if maybe the monoprice adapter is out of date (according to Apple only adapters with VESA 1.1 or higher are compatible w/ the 2010 MBPs audio out feature and I bought the adapter a year ago).
i was looking at the monoprice mini diplay to hdmi and it says that audio is not supported. if i have external speakers plugged into my mbp wont i get audio thru those when i play things on my monitor? what do they mean by audio not supported?
Hook up a $3K machine to a $1.5K display and have to hard power down your $3K machine to get the picture back. When I boot everything is fine. If I change input to TV or power off the display, when I power back up or switch back to hdmi input screen displays error, can't read signal check output device. I have read on this forum about a issue similar with ATV but not with MacPro. In my google searches I read some issues with Vista, but no resolution... thought to be a ATI driver problem. Does anyone know of a tweak to fix the ATI 2600 XT to remember the tv signal after you change inputs or power off the display?
I have two towers next to my desk at home... my main Mac Pro and my "workhorse" 1.8Ghz dual G5 tower. I have two monitors connected to my Mac Pro, a 20" Apple HD Cinema Display (DVI) and a 23" Apple HD Cinema Display (DVI). I have been using one of the cute 17" Plastic Apple Displays with ADC to view the output of the G5 tower while it's toiling away on something, but I'd prefer to switch the output of the secondary 20" Apple HD Cinema Display between my Mac Pro and the G5 instead,
I have an "early 2009" mini. I hooked it up to my HD TV through a Sony amp that acts as an HDMI switch. It works great until I switch to a different component (e.g. satellite receiver). When I switch back to the mini there is no video or audio. Screen sharing is also disabled: I can't access the mini from another Mac. Oddly, I can use the iphone Remote app to operate iTunes and send output through AirPlay. I could also access its shared files through the network. I've tried hdmireviver. It works for a while, but when the mini is not selected by the HDMI switch for more than 15 minutes or so, it fails. Do later models of the mini work more congenially with an HDMI switch?
there includes MDP extensions, DP > MDP cables (seems male-to-male only, so no good for ACD + PC video card, but should be nice for the Mac owners with the Dell 3008 to avoid the Apple dual-link thing), and MDP > DVI, HDMI, or VGA cables. Not adapters, full cables, so you don't have the huge weight of a DVI connector 2 inches from your laptop pulling the connector out slowly and make the external monitor go sparkly. (I'm bitter, and will be buying this :P)
I have an old mac book and got a I am guessing i have an old display port so i can't use this cable. Is there a simple adapter for me to adapt my displayport to the minione on this cable?
the mini displayport to DVI and VGA adapters from monoprice.com. I received them yesterday, and I was able to test them today with the Dell 24" LCD (1900x1200) at work, and both were able to drive the screen. They aren't quite as spiffy looking as the Apple-branded ones, but the combined total with shipping for both was a less than 1.5 one of the Apple ones.
If I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
Sometimes restarting is not enough: you need to power off your Mac, wait for a little, and power it on again. It could be a script which act like the "schedule" program in system preferences: it would switch off the Mac immediately, the add 1 minute to the current time and switch it on again.
I just bought Samsung UN46C7000WFXZA. I want to connect my macbook pro to the TV and i got all the cables that i need.
1- HDMI cable 2- Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter. 3- this sit that include Audio Cable
[URL] I did connect everything my macbook pro very well to the TV using HDMI cable from the laptop to HDMI/DVI port in the TV. Also I connected the Audio cable from my Headphone port in my laptop to PC/DVI Audio IN in the TV. Yes I got the pic and everything is good but no sound at all. I tried everything and i searched the net but no luck or answer at all.
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
So i bought a mini display port to hdmi converter and im running an hdmi to RCA cable from to my tv. I dont really know how to set it up to put out the video. I went into displays and clicked detect displays and nothing showed up and theres nothing but a blue screen on my tv.
I have a VGA connection to my monitor from my Macbook currently cause I had a mini-dvi to vga adapter conveniently. But I heard DVI will be better, so I was looking to get another adapter. Should get a Mini-DVI to DVI or Mini-DVI to HDMI? Would that produce the same picture cause they are both digital? I don't plan on connecting to any other diplays or tv's but would one be more versatile than the other? Oh, and I saw that Apple doesn't make a HDMI adapter, is there a reason why not? I saw it on eBay so it made me curious. I've searched this topic, but I didn't see a thread that answered my questions.
I've had a MacBook Pro for about a year (in fact it might be exactly a year today). I recently just set up a new desk in my dorm and my room - I'm a somewhat avid gamer so I was given a Sony Vaio P4 Hyper Threaded and a really nice montior - a 22" widescreen. Anyway, I would like to be able to use both my awesome Mac and Vaio on this one lcd with a KVM switch. I had a Belkin in my room that I used but it didn't work
I'm really on a tight budget and do NOT want to spend anymore then $80 or so.
I'm looking at popping a SSD into my 2010 Mac Pro but have a couple of questions/concerns before I plunge into purchasing it.
Current Drives Setup:
Bay 1: 1TB HD (OS X) Bay 2: 70GB Raptor (Windows) Bay 3: 2TB HD (Backup) Bay 4: (empty)
I'm looking at grabbing a OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 60GB (on sale). I don't need too large of a drive as I don't have a plethora of apps, so I think the 60GB will do.
My question - how do I transfer just the Apps and OS from the current boot drive (1TB) to the SSD? Can I run Migration Assistant to another internal drive?
Do I need a special bracket for the Mac Pro to convert the 2.5" SSD to 3.5" or will any bracket do the job?
I tried to switch my imp mail account over to an icloud account.the install did not finish.when I try to create a new icloud mail account it says the server is busy. Am I doing some thing wrong ? how do i get an icloud mail account for the mail program ? I can get to my mail fine by using the web browser and logging in to icloud that way.
I recently purchased a Radeon 4870 for my Macpro & couldn't figure out a way to make the DVI port my main monitor port. It always mounts my desktop on the mini display port. Is there a way to reverse this?
So if I have a GT 120, and I buy a 4870 of newegg, can I flash it? Also how loud is this card? I used to have a alienware desktop with a GTX 280 and it was loud as all hell. Also can I switch between graphics cards when not gaming?
my mac is for two people to use and two separate languages. When changing languages in system preferences to chinese, not everything will be in chinese, eg. applications, etc.Would I need to make two partitions and install two different language versions of OS X? Or buy a Chinese version of OSX?
I just got a new Macbook Pro and f5 and f6 are used for the keyboard backlight. I don't need f6 but I'd like f5 to refresh the browsers. In preferences I can switch the f keys to be the default, but I just want this for f5. Does someone know how to do this?
