I'm getting a MacPro and a Dell ultra sharp monitor and it looks like they will be arriving at the same time. My question is this: Will I be able to connect the monitor to the computer with, hopefully, the supplied cables in the box, or will I need to buy a cable to make the connection.

What cables do I need to hook my early 08 MacBook Pro up to my TV and External LCD Monitor? Here's a quick rundown of what I want hooked up. TV, MacBook Pro, and LCD Monitor.MacBook Pro - has a DVI port.TV - has a DVI port and a couple HDMI ports.LCD monitor - is VGA (currently using a VGA to DVI converter to hook up to my Mac).
From my understanding, I will need a DVI extension and a DVI Y splitter either DVI/VGA or DVI/DVI.
Does this seem right? Is their a better way to do this?
I have a new white Macbook (which is nice to use) and have tried connecting it to a VGA monitor (Iiyama Pro 1900) or my TV (Sony Bravia LCD 40")using the mini-display port adaptor
I get a connection but there is no dock seen on both screens just the desktop picture), when I try opening a program such as Photoshop CS4, it will not display on the external screen.
I have an external monitor that I am trying to hook up to via the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. When it's not hooked up, the internet works, but as soon as I plug in the monitor, the internet stops working.

The thing is that I want to connect it to my VGA monitor, but I would like my Xbox to stay connected to the monitor as well, so I am not switching cables all the time. Is there a way to do this? I will of course be using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter for the Mac. Is there a dual VGA to single VGA adapter with a switch on it or something to select the source?

I am looking to get another monitor hooked up, but of course there aren't any more video ports. Are there any alternatives? to have two monitors connected to my iMac? I have heard of the DualHead2Go product, and possibly connecting via USB? Any info on the above and if there are any other methods.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Samsung 2333sw monitor. When I plug into my 128GB SSD Rev B, it automatically uses the samsung as 2nd monitor. The screen is fully covered.
But when I select mirror (using the samsung as primary screen and turned the brightness of my MBA to the lowest), the samsung LCD picture is not clear and the screen is like 4:3.
Does this means that MBA can't support ext LCD as primary screen at 1080 resolution?
How about for those who has the new Apple 24" Cinema display? Can you use that as primary screen?
I've recently bought my first MBP and since I also have a Dell 27' monitor, I'd like to hook the MBP up to the big screen for movies and photo processings.
So given that mini displayport is the only video-out option on MBP and my Dell monitor only has a soundbar speaker (powered by the monitor but not built in), even if I got a mini displayport to HDMI cable (with audio capability) I would still need to connect that soundbar speaker to my MBP via the audio cable to get the sound right?

I have a 30" Dell 3007WFP-HC monitor which I would like to connect to my laptops... I bought a HDMI to DVI cable to connect them.
When using my first laptop: Acer Aspire 6920G with 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, it works just fine.
But when trying my second one: Alienware with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium (processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.93 GHz), it doesn't work at all...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 13inch MBP 2.4 GHz and I just recently bought a Asus ML228 22 inch monitor. It is full HD supporting up to 1080p. I have a mini dvi to hdmi connector so I can use hdmi to connect my MBP to the monitor. But every time I do the resolution is way off. I can not use the 1080p setting because the monitor says it is out of range so I can only use the 720p and that makes it look like crap and the 1080i and that looks good but the screen flickers. I have tried putting the macbook to sleep then closing the lid and waking it back up but sometimes it just flashes and says out of range and other times it goes back to 1080i with the flickering.

My questions are:
1) Do the 8800GT and 2600XT play nice together in one box?
2) Can an application grab just one monitor without using windowed mode? (simple e.g. WoW running full screen on the 8800GT and the desktop showing on the 2600XT).
Hi- I have an ibook G4 (mid 2005). I'd like to be able to connect it to my new 22" external display so that I can have dual monitors. However, the external display plug obviously does not fit into the slot in the ibook.

I have a 2.4 GHz Aluminum MacBook which I'm trying to connect to a Samsung T220HD LCD monitor/TV.
I'm using the Mini Display to VGA adaptor.
I know the adaptor works b/c I can connect it to another external monitor at my work.
When I connect the MB to the monitor, the MB sees it b/c "Syncmaster" shows up after I detect displays. However, nothing shows on the T220HD screen. Sometimes, the LCD simply says, "There is no device connected."
Just bought a mini dvi to vga cable and now im trying to connect my unibody 2,4 with a samsung display but my macbook won't find the display.
When i press search for displays my screen goes blue and then returns to the normal desktop and the external screen keeps saying check signal cable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using my MBP (2010, i7 17" model) with a 24" HP external HDMI LCD monitor. The connection is via the Apple's Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. It was working perfectly the first day I tried. However, when I connected the external monitor to the MBP yesterday, I found that the LCD screen of the external monitor was blinking. It lasted for about 5 minutes and then the problem was gone by itself. I have just reconnected my MBP to the monitor again. The problem reappears. Anybody knows what is going on and how to fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere's my idea on a setup when I move into my garage. Xbox 360 connected to iMac 27" with a Kanex XD HDMI to Mini DisplayPort adaptor. A FreeView box also connected via HDMI though the Kanex XD adaptor using a HDMI switch. Or instead of the FreeView box I might get an EyeTV TV Tuner so I can use the new app to watch live tv on my iPhone.
Here's my other idea...
Mac Mini connected to my 42" Samsung HD monitor via HDMI
Xbox 360 also connected to the monitor with HDMI
A FreeView box also connected via HDMI to the monitor with a HDMI switch to change between the three.
I suppose it depends on screen size at the end of the day.
i want to buy the new imac 27'' with i7 and i have few questions (i will use the imac for HD editing. The footage that i will use is from canon mark II 5D) First my question is did anybody has problems with connecting a second monitor for preview? any problems with MAC OS 64 bit? And is this machine good enough for full HD editing?

A few hours ago, I was running many apps in mirrored mood and my air just began to lag so badly after an hour. Expose is slow as well as surfing and clicking. I wondered what happened. Then I plug back power supply and close the lid of Air, hence running in clamshell mode. It then returned to full speed.
Please help explain to me if title is true. It is disturbing to learn that plugging into to ext monitor could lag.
I have a new 2010 MBP and I'd like to hook up two external monitors to it, more specifically, two ASUS VW246H 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitors. Either via HDMI or DVI connections. I've found various usb monitor adapters, but i've read that many can't quite 'keep up' and I really can't seem to find a solid solution out there.
So does anyone have a dual monitor setup they currently use, if so, what are you using to connect the mini display port to both external monitors.
Macbook Air, generic miniDP to VGA adapter from Ebay, 2 different VGA monitors, one 19" 1280x1024, another 1680x1050. Either one results in a blurry, low contrast image with muted colors. Pretty sure I'm using native res.
