Hardware :: Capturing Sony HDR SR1in To Final Cut Pro 6 ?

Jul 8, 2009

I have a issue that I would like to get resolved. I have minimal experience with capturing with this little handheld. Anyways, I have some footage of my proposal of the hard drive on the camera and use Final Cut Studio 2 to do some hobby editing. How can I capture the footage from the Sony HDR SR1 into Final Cut Pro 6?

Applications :: Capturing Video From Sony Camcorder

Jul 1, 2008

I have a Sony DCR-PC100 Camcorder that uses mini DV tape for recording, and am trying to get the video onto my mac. I have tried in iMovie '06,'08 and Final Cut Express, and I keep getting the same problem. I connect the camera via firewire, and set the camera to VTR. The app recognizes the camera (Final Cut even specifies the model number correctly) and can access it enough so that when you hit play it starts the camera playing. But it never gets video or audio coming into the computer, instead it just keeps the capture preview as black or blue. Eventually it just color wheels for a while and freezes or has to be shut down. I am using an iMac G5, but have tried it on an Intel MacBook Pro, and the same problem happens. I also tried it on a PC and it worked fine, so I dont think it is the camera, but I have a lot of video to upload, so I need to do it on my iMac. Does anyone know why this would be happening, and what some possible solutions would be?

Applications :: Capturing On Final Cut Express

Sep 5, 2008

ive got a Sony HVR-V1E/V1P its a HDV 1080i camera which uses mini DV tapes for ages now ive been trying to capture media into FCE and it hasnt been working it can never recognize the capture device. I found an I.Link convert setting and set it to on so now it converts it into DV when it captures, and at last the device is recognised and i can play it on the computer etc. When i try to capture it though, after around 2 seconds it says: "Dropped Frames were detected during the last capture attempt" , better yet, can anyone help me get this thing to import at proper HDV? Edit: I went into the settings and disabled the option saying "abort capture on dropped frames" Now it captures about 3 seconds and says: "Capture encountered a problem reading data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your project has been saved"

Final Cut Studio :: Capturing ProRes Then Import To Premiere Pro

Jul 1, 2014

I don't do much with tape anymore but a client has provided me with some HDV tape that i want to edit as ProRes in Premiere Pro.

I don't have a third party capture card so therefore in Premiere Pro I am limited to capturing only as HDV from tape.

I'm thinking of capturing as ProRes in FCP 7 (which I had done for ages before switching to Premiere in the wake of FCP X) and then importing the subsequent ProRes files into Premiere from the capture folder.

Mac Pro :: Final Cut Express HD Not Working With Sony TRV-480?

Sep 13, 2007

Wondering if anyone else in here has run across this issue before... I am using a Sony TRV-480 camcorder's pass through function (av-dv) to import a home movie. It seems my new copy of final cut express wont work with my av to dv pass through camera. I called tech support and they suggested I use iMovie to upload the movie then export it to a quick time movie. then import it into final cut express...

Final Cut Pro X :: Importing Sony Footage From SxS?

Jun 19, 2014

I´m completely new to the world of plug ins etc and has shot for the first time with a Sony PMW EX1. I now need to convert the footage to import it to FCPX. (I normally shoot with a DSLR so no trouble with import)

I have downloaded the PDZK-LT2 - Camera Import Plug-In Version 1.0 for Final Cut Pro X from Sony and opened the zip filed, moved what I got (file, dmg, zip and pdf) to the Application Support File in the Library. If this isn´t what I´m supposed to do - what and where?

Should FCPX recognise it when I want to import the footage and choose the plug in instead of the normal importer, or do I need to run it through the new plug in first, then import the new files to FC?? I can´t find any beginners info on this and it´s a bit lonely here trying trial and error with a tired head. I assumed it would just show up when I try to import it.

Applications :: Final Cut Express And Sony SR7E AVCHD Camorder?

Dec 16, 2007

I am desperate to get some HD AVCHD footage off my new(ish) camcorder on to my iMac.

Neither iMovie nor iMove 6HD can transcribe AVCHD so I recently bought Final Cut Express 4.0.

This package at least accesses the movies on the HDD on the camcorder, but when I use the Log and Transfer or Capture facilities Final Cut lets me select a clip but when it tries to transfer it the application just crashes.

Final Cut Pro X :: 10.1.1 - Import Movie Clips (XAVCHD 4K Files) From Sony AX100

Jun 1, 2014

Failures to import movie clips from Sony AX100 4K camcorder into FCP10.1.1 or iMovie 10.0.3. Clips are not recognized or rejected by either program.

Same problem with several downloaded "XAVCHD to ProRes 4.2.2"  conversion programs and Sony's "playmemories home" Seems to me that the file names are suspect to internal Mac firewalls?

My computer: iMac 27 late 2012,  OS X 10.9.3,   3.4 GHz Intel Core 17,   FCP10.1 and iMovie 10.0.3

How to get xavchd files straight or converted to ProRes 4.2.2 into FCP or converted to AICinto iMovie?

MacBook Pro :: New System Sony Vaio Or Sony Vaio F11?

Mar 28, 2010

This is my first post here at MacRumors.com and I'm quite happy to be here posting as it's a good sign for myself and Apple. I am a Windows user for 15 years and Apple really has come so far in recent years that it is maybe time for change. There are a few problems and I'd like if you have the time to give your opinion:In recent months and especially during the time of the latest MacBook Pro I was pretty impressed and tempted to buy a MBP 17" to upgrade my 2007 Sony 15" Core2Duo Vaio. The time has come for an upgrade in April 2010 as I simply cannot wait any longer, I have become to involved in following stories here at MacRumors and even looking at Sony's offerings.

IMac :: Capturing Video Via USB Device

I have the new iMac 27' and was trying to capture some video from my DVR via a composite cable-USB converter. The composites run into a USB cable. Anyone know how to capture video using this method?

IMac :: Capturing Video Through New FW 800 Port

Nov 14, 2009

I have a doubt about FW800 compatibility. Im about to buy the new iMAC 27" and have in mind to buy a bidirectional video converter: Theres a note that says: "A video capture card or OHCI FireWire connection is required to capture DV. IEEE 1934 FW800 connectors are not supported". But I read that I could connect this device to the FW800 port with a FW400 to FW800 adapter (or otherwise buy the FireWire 800(1394b)/FireWire 400 (1394a) 9-Pin to 4-Pin Interconnect Cable) and would work fine as if was compelling with IEEE1934 rules. I wonder if FCS would recognize the video signal and Im not making a mistake buying this device. Capturing analog media is part of my services. Any suggestions of a similar device that would work with a FW800 connection? Or the Canopus ADVC110 will work properly in the new iMAC?

Hardware :: Finding Video Capturing App?

Jun 8, 2009

I'm looking to get some sort of video capture thingy for my new Mac Pro, as in, "hook up a VCR or video game console to it via S-Video or RCA inputs".

I know that there are a few USB/Firewire plug-and-play solutions out there, but i've always been the "put everything on the inside" kind of guy. Back when i was messing around with this before x amount of years ago the most affordable-vs-quality and efficient option for me was a PCI card.

I tried to do some googling on cards for the PCI Express slots in my Mac and was surprised that the options were few and far between and did not actually save me much money versus the USB/Firewire counterparts, so i'm wondering: is my philosophy outdated? Should i conform to the norm and get one of those external solutions, and if so, can anyone speak to the quality of the various ones that are available on the market?

Safari :: Capturing Apple Support Videos?

Feb 13, 2012

I am trying to transition my father to OSX on a new iMac. I've tried several times to get him to commit to getting Internet but he is just not going to. However it would be useful to get the tutorial videos on Apple's Support pages for him to follow as he learns, iWork in particular, but other tasks as well. I've shown them to him in the AppleStore and he seems to like them as a method of instruction. Apple however has changed its method of streaming the video, I can't download them anymore using QuickTime and you can't access them via the Safari > Activity menu either. Why Apple is making it hard to get something they seem to want us to have, seems strange to me. How do you download the tutorials? I'd like to put them on a Flassh Drive for Dad to use at home.
