The original drive is a Matshita CW-8121 but I can't find any for sale, what can I replace it with that's current and supported? And pref cheap on Ebay.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI retrofitted a Toshiba dvd/cdrw 2512 in my indigo ibook, following instructions found online. Opens fine with f12 key, and drilled hole for paperclip eject if need. Plays dvds and burns cds great (patchburn installed to burn from itunes too). But, the drive also opens when the ibook is turned on and when it comes out of sleep. Is this a glitch that can be fixed. Not a big deal but would like to have it not open if possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is normal. However I have the mid-2009 uMBP, and the eject button on my keyboard doesn't eject the DVD or the eject an external device, even if i select the item on my desktop first.
Is this normal?
My friend has a late 2008 unibody 13" macbook, and his eject key stopped working. All other keys around it work and he is able to eject discs through finder fine.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI rarely use my superdrive, so I thought it might be more practical to have the button eject my external hard drive(s). Is there a way to do this through OS X or a third party app?
I've been having problem with either Firefox or Safari and I download something and the dmg extracts and I'm left with the white casing shell where the app is housed and it won't eject. I can't eject it from finder but dumping it to the trash from finder took it off the sidebar. I can't get them off my desktop unless I restart my Mac.
I've noticed now that along with disk images not mounting for me anymore. My external drive images or DVD's won't eject either.
When I use right click with Mighty Mouse I don't even see an option anymore to eject that image. Is there any solution out there to fix this glitch? The work around I'm using is unmounting or ejecting images or disks from Disk Utility.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? I'm using Leopard 10.5.2 and am on an intel iMac.
How to eject an installation disk, the eject button won't work?

i've had a Macbook for a couple years and I have some knowledge of OS X but this one has stumped me.My friend called me tonight and she told me on her new iMac that in the finder window, after clicking on Macintosh HD, the eject button was missing that should be next to the device. This apparently happened earlier today with a CD and happened when she called me with an External HDD.
She was however able to eject the stuff by either dragging it to the trash or doing "Open Apple" + E, key shortcut. I'm stumped on this because she was till able to eject the HDD or CD with the previous methods but the Finder, "eject" button for the devices was missing.
I am a new itunes user and can use your help. I'm sure it is a simple solution.finding a way to eject a cd when there is no eject symbol showing in the usual place.

I see a web page I like i'll hit command+P and then i'll click on preview and once in preview i'll hit save and it'll then save as a PDF. However this interrupts my workflow. It's too much of a process.I'd love to just be on Firefox, see a page I like and boom, have it saved as a PDF.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I select Apple sleep it goes to sleep but immediately wakes up.
I have taken off all devices and it still happens - but really, it started this after working with the same devices for many months.
It is immediate after going to sleep, the next second it wakes back up.
Sometimes when I turn my iMac on, it'll start doing its thinglight comes on, chime goes, fan whirrs, but then it'll make a strange click/"werrrrh" noise and turn off. It's happened twice to me since I've brought it home from school and each time I just tilted the monitor around while turning it on and it worked.I have been avoiding turning off / restarting my computer because I'm afraid its going to happen and I won't be able to get past it.Could the powersupply be loose or something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to 10.6 Snow Leopard. Awesome OS, but one thing bugs me: Since upgrading, whenever I activate my screensaver the default Flurry one appears for about 2 or 3 seconds, before immediately taking me to my locked screen window. I don't touch the mouse or keyboard or anything, it just refuses to show the screensaver for more than a couple seconds. I hit esc and it works for a bit longer, but soon enough displays the login window again. Has anyone had this problem after upgrading? It has been fine before (10.4, 10.5...up until now).

For some time now my Safari crashes immediately upon startup. I already tried to remove plugins etc. but no success. See crash report below:

First of all, I know something I did is at fault, not Apple. I had tried the Developer Preview of the newest version of Safari, but found it crash-prone, so I downgraded to the latest regular release for Lion (5.1.7). Now Safari WILL NOT launch.

Came back from camping on the weekend, downloaded the update, and Safari crashed upon launch there on after. It launches the application, the loading bar stands still, and a couple seconds later I get this error:

I just moved to my new Macbook Air with Mavericks (from and older MBA with OS 10.7.5). When I clic the send button now on an outgoing message, it doesn't send immediately, something it did do with the older version of mail. Rather it spontaneously sends some time later.
How I can set it so that it sends the message immediately upon clicking "send"?

Recently, iTunes has been freezing almost immediately after launching, irrespective of other applications running. The problem persists even in Safe Mode, and I have to Force Quit the application each time. Some times it runs fine for one song, but usually freezes immediately (not responding with spinning pinwheel).

I've got a dual G5 running Panther and I put it to sleep when I go to work in the morning. Last night, I wanted to try out Tiger (yes, I know - I'm way behind the times) so I installed it on a FireWire drive and booted off it for a couple of hours to see how things worked. I then went back to my internal Panther drive, and everything is ok except for one thing: when I hit "sleep", it goes to sleep, the screens turn off, and then for some reason I immediately hear the internal drives spin back up and the thing turns on again! Why can't it stay asleep?
