OS X V10.7 Lion :: Address Book - Address Editing For Group Members?
how to specify which of several email addresses should be used for a member of a group.  It starts by selecting the menu item "Edit > Edit Distribution List."  From there it explains how to select the desired address for a specific person.  All well and good...

BUT...

Try as I might, doing various combinations of name or group selections in the address book window, I cannot seem to get the "Edit Distributuion List" item to be un-greyed.  Effectively, the program is not allowing me to do the edit function I need to do on this one group member.

Am I missing the secret handshake in this process?  Why should it be this hard to do this simple function?

Which raises the larger question of "What did Apple do to the Address Book application in general?"  This issue is only the tip of my iceberg.  The whole app seems to be harder to use than before.

OS X Leopard :: Can Create A Group Without Address Book
I would like to create an email group, but I only email these folks - I don't really want them all in my address book. Is there a simple way to create a group without adding all the names to address book? At present I have a text document with all their addresses and just copy and paste them into the "To" field. This is Apple - there must be a better way!

noticed a small but irritating bug in addressbook: while making a new group and typing a desired name for the group i'm not able to save the name i wish by hitting enter. The name of a new group remains 'new group'. I can change the name but am not able to save the new personal name.

Noticed this while configuring an new imac with snow leopard and double checked it on my MBP with SL. Same there.

I made a new account on my MBP and no problem in addressbook

Can somebody tell me how to fix this without having to make a new account?

OS X Leopard :: Address Book Smart Group Conflict
I created a smart group in Address Book with some flawed logic and it rendered my Address Book unusable. When I launch the app, all I get is a spinning rainbow wheel, then the app crashes. I am still learning my way around the mac, so I'm looking for some advice here. Is there some way for me to delete this smart group without launching the app? I believe the app has gotten itself into a logical infinite loop when trying to build this group. If I remove the group, I believe I can get the app to work again.

OS X Leopard :: Address Book Will Not Allow To Send A Group Email
After a recent upgrade to Snow Leopard, I seem to have lost the ability to send email using any of the "groups" which are in my address book. When I click on the group name only the first person of the group appears in the TO: line of the email. I have tried building new groups, disk utility permission repairs, disk check, restarting. I'm out of ideas. The address book works fine for individuals.

OS X :: Create Address Book Group From Email Recipients?
I'm in college and get a lot of emails from a lot of different groups and I often have reason to save them as a group in address book, but I usually stop once I realize that I need to add each of the people to my address book one by one, and then add them all to a group as I go.

Is there a way to streamline this? In an ideal world I would like to be able to create a new group in address book and just copy/click and drag all the address from the email to the group. But, like I said before the biggest issue right now is having to add each person to address book one at a time, simplifying that process alone would be a huge help. Any suggestions, is what I'm thinking of even possible?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Email To A Group In Address Book?
I posted this awhile ago on the address book forum but got no response.  I'm still puzzled.

For some reason I can't email new groups that I set up in address book. Older groups that were migrated from previous iMac work fine. In address book I hit the plus button for the new group, name the group, and drag the contacts from my contact list that I want in the new group. When I go to MacMail, activate the "To" field and start to type the new group name it appears in the list, but when clicked on it disappears leaving only a comma. When I do this with older groups all the contacts in that group appear.

Snow Leopard :: Address Book Entry Only Accessible As Group
Background: I entered several names with email addresses that I wanted group and individual type ahead access to. So like iPhoto I created a group name and entered the names and addresses in the group. They appear in the All Contacts group but are not accessible via type ahead. How without typing them all in again is this situation correctable. I have tried drag and drop, export/import, to no avail. Looks like a city scape icon along side the name instead of a card. I want a card. screw the city scape. Same scheme works fine in iPhoto.

OS X Leopard :: Address Book Crashed After Creating A Smart Group / Resolve This?
Just created a smart group in Address Book and then added a field to the cards to populate the smart group. After creating the new field I clicked on the smart group and the spinning beach ball of death showed up followed shortly by the message that the application unexpectedly quit. I'm running the latest version of OS X. Mail will come up OK, but if I click Addresses to obtain something from the address book, mail will quit working also. Mail will come back up, whereas Address Book will not. Have also tried launching it from the HD in applications as well as from the dock - no luck. Anyone have any suggestions?

there isn't any way to sync Address Book across Macs, is there? I will be upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard any day now So assuming no to my above questions, is there a way to import contacts into a certain group? I use groups in Address Book like different phone books to organize contacts. I need to import & merge a group on 1 Mac to another. Right now when I do this, it puts them in All. This means I would have to search the newly imported contacts one by one and manually drop them into the group.

When I send the message I get this back: "This message couldnt be sent because the following internal error occurred: This message couldnt be sent because you havent specified any recipients."I can manually address the email to the individual group members, but why isn't Mail adding the group members as recipients when I enter the group name?

I can add additional street addresses by clicking the green plus, and I can delete and edit the new addresses, but I cannot delete the first problematic one.
