I am having is with editing the tags on song files in iTunes. I cannot modify the text fields in the info tab of get info. So i can't change the song titles, artist names, or anything, which is really annoying. I have tried changing the file access from read only to read and write but this didn't help. Could the problem somehow be that I had all of these files on my widows machine and i burnt them off and transfered them over...
I recently ran into a big problem where I had to completely erase every ID3 tag in my library to restore aobut 5% of my library (confusing, I know). This was no big deal because my iTunes XML file contained all song information.
Everytime I click a song to play it, my custom iTunes song tags for that song are replaced with the "updated" ID3 tags. I am losing all of my song information each and every time I play a different song in iTunes.
I've already tried deleting all songs in my library and re-importing using my backed-up XML file, but to no avail. The songs are imported with their correct custom tags, but they change when I go to play the song.
I have a huge music library, and a lot of the song tags include the song name, artist, and album all in the title of the song. Is there a program to fix this?
I have my files on a Windows machine in the next room, connected via Gbit (AirPort Extreme). The iTunes library is on my MacBook Air right here. But when I'm trying to add artwork to my files it isn't saved with the file. Normal tags (name, year etc) work.
So like many people I have (had) a very unorganized iTunes folder. I decided it was time to basically put all my files in the same format and add a bunch of the missing information to the files, most notably the artist name. I have always saved my files in the following format: Artist name - song name .mp3. then I would just add the files into itunes and of course it would not add any info into the artist field for those songs. Through windows explorer, I added artist names to all of my files and changed some of the file names but how do I go about updating iTunes to reflect these changes?
i recently got a 3rd gen iPod shuffle. In my music i have "synced only checked playlists" I also have sync only checked songs. When I make a change to my playlist in iTunes and sync, it doesn't change in the shuffle when I sync.
I thought that iTunes was supposed to edit id3 tags no? When editing info in the program it does not affect changes to the files themselves, how should I go about fixing this?Another small itunes related matter is that when plugged in it does not register on my desktop (even though I have the option t do so checked off)
Why are tags now showing up as they were before I re-tagged them in Itunes when I open them in other players e.g. VLC ?I'm sure it wasn't like this before? Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix or an explanation as to why?I spend ages getting the tags just how I want them which is great for itunes but when I open them in other softare the old tags (how they were before I used itunes to re-tag them) show up instead of the new ones I wanted.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
If I want to let a program change ID3 tags of MP3s outside of iTunes, would iTunes not be able to find or recognize the files after this? Would my library be ruined?
I recently made some edits to the genres of about 30 of my songs. Once it synced up, I checked back at the songs. The album artwork for the songs is now gone, I can't change it because the artwork tab in "Get Info" is now gone, and I can't play the songs.
When I create an event on iPhoto I usually tag the photos...When I export them to a new folder on my desktop or whatever other external support, my tags are not kept but instead replaced by the original name of my picture (i.e IMG_45, etc...) How can I keep the tags on?
Does anyone know of a mac application that would allow me to alter metadata tags on audio files outside of iTunes? Basically, I want to be able to alter things like "Album Title" without using iTunes.
I am wanting to index all my 9000+ pictures in spotlight by adding meta tags. IPhoto can add meta tags, but they don't add it into spotlight, which is a problem if I ever move my pictures to a different program besides Iphoto. So what I am looking for is something that updates meta tags that you type in right into the spotlight info box, without having to open up info for each individual photo. Hell, I don't even know if something like this exists.
I have worked hard at creating my businesses webpage with iWeb and now and have a hard time getting it recognized by Google and other search engines. I have an immediate problem and a secondary. First. I am working with Google Webmaster Central and they are trying to verify that I am the owner of the site. I have two options--insert a meta tag on my homepage or upload an HTML file.
After working through the Help menu, I was able to figure out how to add HTML snippets from the media bar. However, when I update the website, and go to the link they ask me to go for, it is not recognized as having it on the page. I think the problem is this: I am putting it on the page, but the directions from google have a very specific area that they want it in the code. So, is there any way of seeing the code so that I can literally copy and paste it in there? I can't seem to figure it out. Second: I want to add meta tags to increase organic search results but have no clue how to with iWeb. How do I add a meta tag? Here is my website: www.newfangledeats.com
I recently purchased The 99 Darkest Pieces of Classical Music from Amazon. Yeah, it's sucky MP3, but it was free and I'm not a big classical music buff. I have the Album Artist field empty, and every track marked as "Part of a Compilation". So far so good. When I go to change the Artist field of any track, to fix a misspelling or capitalization error, for example, that track is instantly dragged out of the track listing for 99 Darkest and into its own album, with the album name being Unknown Album. This despite the track still being marked as Part of a Compilation. If I restore the original spelling, the track is dragged back into 99 Darkest's list. It's not like iTunes to maintain state like that. What's happening and how do I fix it?
I have had my MacBook for a while but have virtually filled my iTunes and am now wishing to store it on an external drive - you know, have iTunes appear so I can upload CDs on the go and such, but once the external drive is plugged in everything points to there. My problems are as follows (and, please bear in mind I am something of a dummy when it comes to this stuff - so basic talk please!!)
1. How do I rename the hard drive (when connected it is marked as "untitled")
2. I have tried going through preferences on iTunes and selecting the drive as the new location but when I attempt to consolidate the library it tells me that I have no privileges to do so.
I've just upgraded to snow leopard and found a problem with my Safari browser - I cannot change my homepage to [URL] or any other page, the preferences always revert my homepage to the apple homepage.
When I installed 10.6, I did a "clean install" then copied over my bookmarks and history files from my backup drive. I then ran software update to update everything to the latest versions.
I use a third party app., MacStock Manager. I have to resize the window every time it is opened and wonder if I'm stuck with this situation? This is the only time a window is not the same size as when it was closed. Using a new iMac with Snow Leopard.
I use change my icons, at least the dock ones to make them look uniform. I usually manually change them, (copy, ctrl+i, paste) but for ical I had a problem. I did the normal routine and it did work. It changed the icon to what I wanted, until I opened the program. Then it changed it back to the default icon. So I used Candybar to do the samething, and the same thing happened. I did this for about 20 icons or so, and they all changed, except for ical. Well it did change initally but when I opened it, it reverted.
Today, I changed the password of my Gmail account on a PC computer in a public library. Afterwards, I was/am unable to log into my Gmail account to check the messages via SL 10.6.4's Mail client. I have an April 2010 13" MBP. Similarly, I was/am unable to log into my Gmail account via the Mail client on my 16 GB, 3G iPad, or the 32 GB, 3rd Gen iPod Touch. I keep getting the error message that either the user name or the password is wrong! I checked and re-checked, but I did NOT see anything wrong? The funny thing is that I could log into my Gmail account via Safari on ALL three devices, but NOT via the Mail client on the three device!
I have a batch of HD video downloads in my iTunes Store queue that I can't delete. Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.
As the title states, I would like to change the password on my iTunes account. I used the name of my (now) ex-girlfriend and want to change it for obvious reasons (I know it is cheesy ). Is there any way to do it?
I'm trying to change an album in itunes. I drag the whole album in itunes: no problem. The artist name is spell slightly different than other albums by the same artist so when I transfer to my ipod you get two artists in your list: problem for me. I select every track in the album, right click and get info. Change the artist name and click ok. The artist name for every track changes however it always leaves the first track on its own while the others move to their own (splitting the album): problem When I check the info/tags nothing seems out of place on that one track? Not the first time this has happened but it seems to be on random albums.
