does stuffit expander support rar paswords? (so if i download a file that is password protected, can stuffit expander open when i put in the password) if not, can you suggest a good archive tool which supports rar passwords?
View 2 RepliesI accidently deleted Stuffit Expander from OS9.0.4, and I don't have the install disc, and I can't install stuffit expander or update anything It's all in a .hqx file etc, and only Stuffit can open them, can someone give me a copy of a ver. that will work with OS9.0.4 in .sea format

I'm currently using RAR Expander to decompress .rar files, but it's inconvenient and it only handles .rar files. Does anybody know any app that would work like the default ZIP decompress app? Like, right now I want to decompress a .7z file and I can't.

Background:I used "RAR expander" for a long time until I came across a file it was not compatible with. I then downloaded and installed "The Unarchiver" and it worked on the file "RAR expander" would not open.
After that "The Unarchiver" became the default program for .rar files. The problem is that "The Unarchiver" does not work well with password protected files. So for months now I have just manually opened "RAR expander" whenever I try to open a password protected file.
I want to keep both programs so I will be able to open any file, but as I rarely use "The Unarchiver" I would like to have that be the one I have to dig through sub-folders to use. That is, unless there is some excellent program I have not tried.
I need to create a split archive of a file over 1GB for posting on my blog. I'd like it to be in RAR format so that both Mac and PC users can access it. I heard I could do it with Stuffit Deluxe so I bought it and now I'm seeing no such option. Neither to create split archives or to create RAR archives, let alone both.
Does anyone know how to do this with Stuffit Deluxe? If not, can you suggest another software?
When I attempt to expand password protected files using Stuffit Expander 13.0.3, I get an error saying "An error occurred attempting to expand /Users. The structure of the archive is damaged (error #17540)". I don't however get these errors when expanding files that aren't password protected, they expand normally with Stuffit. I've tried using the Archive Utility.app but it just creates a zip file and creates another rar file.

What about for my wireless password? To my school education account? My OS X password? Skype? AIM? MSN? Can anyone explain how to do this? I know I could just leave the website field blank, but that seems like a pitiful work around.

To go back and try to remember passwords, account numbers etc is horrible and so far I see no advantages to this new version. This is the unintended consequence of a new version of software even with Apple!

I continually choose "yes" every time I visit the sites that I want to use this feature for (i.e. project management panel at work), but no luck. Well, not EXACTLY true, on a (very) RARE occasion - Safari will save a username, but still NOT the accompanying password. I've found 2 threads on this same issue on Apple's Support Knowledgebase, there's still no solution from them on this: [URL]
Is anyone else out there having this issue? If so, I'm urging you to post on the thread so Apple will resolve this. I'm in the web design biz, so I am frequenty visiting sites that require login credentials. I'd switch to another browser, but, well - no I won't. I love Safari too much. but that seems very dangerous to store your entire password library on somebody else's server! God knows where your Bank Passwords will end up..! What do people think about this?

Once do this it works fine. But doing this every time is annoying. I have entered the new pw in Mails preferences in 'Accounts' but it doesn't seem to work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI ripped a DVD I have in my collection into my Mac using hardbrake 32 bit. I have 64 bit but supposedly for some reason it needed VLC 64 bit which apparently doesnt exist or something so I downloaded the 32 bit version. when ripping i had 2 choices mpeg4 and encoding .264 or ffemp or whatever it is.. and .mkv and the same choice of encoding. When I try ripping with the mkv the quality comes out rubbish like pixelated boxes and what not totally not watchable. 2 DVDs same thing. so I deleted those and I used the mv4. I dont rem now what option that was but there were only 2 so anyways then it comes out ok. but then when i try to play it. like i do with my downloaded stuff (which i use movist- no problems) i get hiccups stops whatever u call those. i have to close everything i am running i.e transmission etc before it would play smoothly this is kind of weird i even switched it to high performance. also some websites i save the user name password saved but i must have did something and for that particular site it does nott have nor does it ask me to save anymore so how do i get it to prompt me again?

If I click to download a zip file Stuffit comes up as the default to unarchive. Correct me if I'm wrong but Stuffit should work for RAR files as well right?
I would just change my preferences to Stuffit as the default for RAR's but I can't find it. I know this seems stupid and I am a total n00b but I can't find it anywhere (in my apps which is where I thought it would be.)

Was using a dongal from Orange UK - OK on Leopard but freezes the Apple laptop.
Have checked that it is supposed the be alright for the administrator to have access read and write.
Downloaded additional update software from Orange which is zipped.
Cannot get Stuffit to open as write protected and do not know what other file could be of use. The following is the error message:

I need a way to export my Safari passwords into Chrome of Firefox. I started using Chrome and the only thing its lacking are my passwords. If there is no way to get passwords from safari into chrome please tell me if theres a way to get them from safari into firefox because the transfer from Firefox to chrome is easy. I have tried 1password but only its trial version therefore i couldnt export the passwords into firefox.
