I am considering putting together an IPhoto book as an 18th birthday present for my daughter. I'm thinking the picture oriented book. Has anyone else bought one of these books, and what do you think of them?
View 15 RepliesI need to figure out how to add text to a photo book project in iphoto. I want to send this as a gift to my father... I chose my initial layout, added pages (in a particular order of photos on a time line) and there isnt alot of text in the layout i chose.
I would love to add text to the photos/pages but cant seem to figure it out.
I just wanted to say that I recently did a hardcover photo book using iPhoto, and it turned out very, very well.
I did it as a gift for my wife for Mother's Day, and gave it to her early because I was excited to see how she liked it, and she most definitely did.
So in case anyone's wondering, they do do a good job.
And before getting into IT I worked in camera stores for 10 years, so I'm kinda picky!
Is there any way of putting captions below each photo in an iPhoto Book? I can't see any way of doing this in iPhoto (I have 09). The only way I can see is to put a caption below the photo using Photoshop or Graphic Converter, for example, and put that photo in the Book. That is a bit tedious. Typing directly into the Book would surely be easier.

I receive hundreds of business cards and I would like to retain the information digitally, but would not like to input them all in my Address Book as I don't want to have thousands of entries. This could get especially tiresome while scrolling through my iPhone contacts database, you know? Do people keep multiple Address Books, like for either work or personal? I can't imagine CEO's like Steve Jobs keeps the info of tens of thousands of people they meet all in one Address Book.
I bought a Penpower Card Scanner which has it's own database for business cards which I haven't played with yet. I was planning to keep a database there and the cards that turn out to be useful I would export into Address Book. Let me know if anyone has any insights into this matter. A Google search surprisingly bred few results.
I'd like to add a second contacts/address book, comprised only of wok related contacts. I realize I can list them all in the original book and then add a group called work. However, I'd prefer to keep them completely separated from my other contacts. Anyway I can do that? Also, if I can do it, will the effort be duplicated on my iPhone?
View 4 Replies View RelatediTunes 9.2 just came out. I am trying to add all my PDF's as books but is becoming really daunting. For some reason it will not let me add whole folders of pfd's using import (apple+O). I can import if I select a bunch but its time consuming since I have levels and levels of PDF's. An easier way of importing them. Also was this intended or maybe a bug?

I have an iTunes library which contains many PDFs, but for some reason they don't show up in the "Books" library section, but rather in "Music".
The rather cumbersome workaround to this is to drag the PDF files over to the Finder desktop, delete them in iTunes (taking notes of which playlists they belong to etc.) then drag them into iTunes again. This time they magically pop up in the "Books" library section.
I'm hoping there's a simpler way to make PDF files go into the correct library section -is there?
(the reason this is a problem is because I've tried to move (export) my iTunes library to another hard drive, only to find out that all my PDF files were missing! However, I tried to insert (drag from the Finder into iTunes) a PDF file or two (for testing purposes) before exporting, and they all came through fine).
If I cancel my Audible subscription, can I still listen to my books? Or will they be DRM'ed so I can't?

I created a movie using IDVD, only I apparently don't have the kind of drive needed to burn dvds, so my questions (which is probably a stupid one) is how do I put it onto a dvd? I know there are external burners, but I rather not buy one. Are there any types of services that do that? I know there are ones for tapes to dvds, but this is already on my computer.. Can I save it and do it through a pc? Would I have to convert the file?

View 15 Replies View RelatedHas anyone found a way to change the default of putting "Made on a Mac" on every page? I know I can delete it page by page, but that gets old. Is there a hidden preferences file that has that set to "on"? Or a CSS file in the package where that can be set to "false"? I'm going to wade in and see if I can find it, but my skills on this are a bit outdated, so if someone else has found it I would love to hear about it.

I now want to move the music I purchased onto my external HDD where the rest of my library lives and take them off of my MBP HDD. I want to be able to put a strike-threw or something showing that I have done it. Currently, there is no way to see on the cal if I did something or not. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have about 20 hours of low res digicam videos sitting in iphoto. When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated.How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:
The Photo Library nees to be upgraded to work with this version of IPhoto.
After that I click on upgrade and get the following msg:
Can't open current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
I am transferring info from an iBook G4 running Tiger to a MacBook running Snow Leopard. Everything is going well, except for my ability to transfer the iPhoto library. I have mounted the iBook to the MacBook via Firewire. When I transferred my iPhoto library from my MB to my new MBP, it was easy: all I had to do was drag over "iPhoto Library" from User>Pictures>iPhoto Library But it isn't set up the same way on the iBook: in User>Pictures, "iPhoto Library" is a folder instead of a small iPhoto icon (which you would need to right-click on to see its contents). When I copied the contents of the folder into "iPhoto Library" on the new MacBook, it didn't maintain all of the organization (eg. the albums). Is there any way to do this so that iPhoto will keep the organization of the photo library on the new MacBook, or am I destined to reorganize my thousands of photos into albums again? Please keep in mind that the MacBook is being set up as a new computer, and I am copying over the files/docs/music/photos that she wants to keep from the iBook. I am not using Migration Assistant.

Is there a way to do a mass select or un-select in the book selection of iTunes. I normally only keep the current book I am reading on my device. You can select and un-selected in mass for the music just not the books which seems strange.
