Is there a native HTML web page editor in SNow Leopard?
I just moved from a PC to a MAC and would like to work on my web site pages.
Anyone have a preference on html editors?
I've used Dreamweaver and it's over kill.
I need something to similar functionality to Frontpage, etc.
When making a website, say from scratch, I'm looking for a HTML editor.
For ex. when working with IE and you right-click > view source and the notepad pops up.
I'm looking for something along those lines for a Mac, that way I can get some practice in etc etc.
What program would you recommend?
Does anyone know of a free mac HTML or CSS editor? I'm looking to change some things in my wordpress style page and I need some assistance.
I know the mac comes with text editor, but I don't like that. The find function is useless.
I have been looking for a free html wysiwyg editor for mac, something like dreamweaver or frontpage on windows.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm use to using Microsoft Frontpage to edit my website templates that use .html/.php, but now I use my iMac more than a PC and was wondering what is a great application that allows you to preview your changes before having to upload it to the server. Similar to Microsoft Frontpage?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with Safari 4 since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Any page that displays HTML source code in a standard page jumbled up. It is not rendering the page correctly, although if I copy the scrambled text to another program it displays correctly. This only effects Safari and other browsers are okay. Does anyone have a suggestion how I can reinstall safari / reset?? The screenshots above are from a Joomla Edit HTML page but this also happens on other pages such as where they show sample HTML code tutorials.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a html text editor that color codes html tags. I am used to using cuteHTML on Windows which works EXCELLENT! I would assume there is something like this on OSx? I dont want anything to "build" webpages for me like Dreamweaver. For doing html by hand (and copy/paste) the colors really help your eyes work on a complex page easier than just using textedit for example.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have used a free program called mi 2.1.6 which does a nice job of highlighting tags, but has been unsupported for a few years now. I was wondering if there was anything better out there - free, donationware, or paid - that anyone feels is a great program worth trying ?
I have done a bit of research already, and came up with this article http://mac360.com/index.php/mac360/comments/faceoff_which_is_the_best_text_editor_ever/
Anyone have a personal favorite ?
I'm using Text Edit in plain text format as a html editor. I get an error when I try and edit using Transmit, when I try to save, Transmit says: The documents "doc-name.php" could not be saved. Text encoding Western (ISO Latin 1) isn't applicable. If possible, select a different text encoding. I cut/paste from text edit into the Transmit file and it doesn't work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI routinely transfer files bigger than 4GB between Windows and OSX. Right now I use ntfs-3g and macfuse. It seems to work, but every now and then I get file transfer errors, like error -36. The jump drives are fine, and the files are OK since I can transfer them to the PCs without a problem. With the "hack" that enables native NTFS R/W for Snow Leopard, I notice people have to enter the UUID of each volume for it to automount. Isn't there a way to set it up so one can just pop a jump drive in and have it automount? I'm dealing with DV files, and each machie is on a different network - different site so I'm pretty much stuck using removable drives.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am sure many of you heard that Snow Leopard was supposed to have native read/write for NTFS partitions. Apple supported NTFS R/W in older SL builds but I guess decided to not to go with it for some reason, however support is still present. For this, you need to modify your /etc/fstab file to mount NTFS partitions for read and write.
First, uninstall NTFS-3G/Paragon if installed.
Open Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
Type "diskutil info /Volumes/volume_name" and copy the Volume UUID (bunch of numbers).
Backup /etc/fstab if you have it, shouldn't be there in a default install.
Type "sudo nano /etc/fstab".......................
I am using the native NTFS read/write support via the /etc/fstab "hack" for lack of a better term. Since I routinely transfer files bigger than 4GB on a jumpdrive between Windows 7 and OSX I don't really have a choice but to use NTFS. I would rather use this than MacFuse/ntfs-3g since I think it is faster. When I write something to the drive and take it to the Windows 7 machine, the security on the newly written file is set to admin - I have to log in as the admin on the Win7 machine, right click and change the security settings. When I formatted the drive initially (on the Win7 machine), I set it for full control for everyone. Is there a way to force OSX to write the file with the same permissions as the drive?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI configured the web server correctly and got my site up and running correctly. Unfortunately, I tried to edit the index.html file and changed all of the CSS formatting so now my page just looks like a simple text page without any images. My HTML coding skills aren't excellent so I cannot reconfigure the file in the same format. Is there a way reset the index.html file?

So I just got a MacBook from the Apple Online Store, and Im trying to fill out the Up To Date form for Snow Leopard, but it won't work. When I click on the link for people who got their Mac from a retail store t loads a page asking for my Serial Number etc.... If I click the link that says "If you purchased online" all I get is a log-in and that an empty shopping cart. Am I missing something? I really don't want to mail my form in.
and since for some reason they removed it from their site the link is (URL)
I recently installed the Dell 1355cnw color laser. I'm running it through my Airport. My iMac sees it just fine The trouble is that it stops printing after one page of every doc. Word. Adobe. Doesn't matter. It prints a page and then beeps as if complete. I've run the Apple updater. I've updated drivers (athough Dell's Mac driver support isn't great). This problem makes the printer virtually useless to me. Ironicially, my Windows based machine (which sees the printer through my iMac works fine), which leads me to conclude it's a driver issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed Safari update to 5.1.5 and now Safari won't load any web page. Running snow leopard on an iMac. How do I fix, or revert to previous version of Safari that did work, keeping in mind, can't access internet on that computer since Safari won't load a web page (Firefox, Chrome, Opera have never worked on that computer, although Firefox worked fine until I upgraded OS to snow leopard).

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.

I'm running OS 10.6.8, TextEdit v 1.6 (264) and find that documents created in TextEdit and saved with a custom scale (90% for example) and then closed always revert to 100% when opened the next time. The funny thing is when I close the document after changing the scale without saving it prompts me to save the changes, but even then it's not saved. So I'm thinking this behavior isn't normal, TextEdit knows it's supposed to be saving this but for whatever reason it's not. This is more in the category of a nuisance than a problem but I thought I'd post and see if anyone knows anything about this.

Every time I try to install a software program onto my computer (Mac OS X 10.6.8), a blank permission screen pops us, with NO TEXT appearing. When I try to type in the information i think it's asking me, nothing shows up, as if my keyboard has been disabled. BTW, I've been trying to install Photoshop Elements and Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, which I know are compatible.

I have a Mac mini (older Intel 965 graphics chipset, not current Nvidia), which I'd like to use as a PVR system, recording live TV, playing back video on my TV, etc. I have a Hauppauge card to capture the digital TV stream (I'm in the UK - freeview). Is there a system like MythTV for Mac OS X, that is a bit more polished (and that will make use of my current hardware)? I've tried using MythTV under Linux, and while it works, it's very unpolished. I can't find anything better that's even Mac-only.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Yahoo mail (have been for about 8-9 years). I now read my mail through the web, download it to Mail on my iMac, iPhone and now iPad. I like using the native Mail applications on each device rather than going to the web, but I use the webpage when I'm at work. When I want to delete mail that I don't want. I do like leaving it on the server so I can check old e-mails from any location. Is there a way to manage all of this so I don't have to delete about 20-30 unneeded mail messages from 4 different places? It becomes pretty annoying seeing that same message that I deleted twice before show up on another device (along with 100 others) if I don't check a device for a few days.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a template where I have placed a two column table on the front page, left side being for a graphic for a letterhead, and right side column for text.
My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?
