View 3 RepliesI have a user who just switched from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011. Getting a strange issue when sending to users on Outlook 2010 PC.
When sending a message, users on Outlook 2011 and people viewing the message via web mail can see the message fine. It reports that it's a digitally signed message (just one sentence), and the certificates look fine. Via the web, the message appears fine. It says:
"This message has a digital signature. The digital signature could not be validated because the S/MIME control is not available." However, it comes up fine.
However, users on Outlook for PC (my version is 2010), cannot read it. I first get a preview pane error "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents." And when I double-click on the message, I get a pop up window "Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the underlying security system."
Anyone can provide clues why other Outlook MAC users and via the web the message can be read, but just not PC Outlook users for now?
I will be switching from Outlook 2007 to Office for Mac Outlook 2011 for my business email/calendar/contacts. I am pleased with Outlook 2007, but despise my PC otherwise. I will be using Microsoft Exchange as my email server. My concerns: Calendar Syncing, Accessing Archived PST files, Transitioning current mail folders.
I have a couple questions regarding this switch:
- Will Office for Mac Outlook 2011 accommodate by business needs and offer a comparable application as Office 2007 (PC version)?
- What roadblocks or issues should I be aware of when making this switch?
I'm using iTunes 9.2.1 and it states that my music library is 159.99gb with 25,994 songs, however the folder containing music files is 171.26gb with 30,309 files. This is a difference of 11.27gb and 4315 files. The folder only contains mp3 or m4a files with their respective album and band folders; no images, text files or anything else. The iTunes folder is located elsewhere. I added the folder to iTunes again to see if there were 11gb of songs I'd forgotten to add and there was no difference. I even deleted all iTunes settings and the current library and added the folder again and it is still missing 11.27gb.
I'm about 95% sure that none of my music collection is missing from iTunes so my first thought was that iTunes is just reading the file sizes and count inaccurately and it really is 171.26gb, but I'm not sure.
Can anyone think of a solution without going though my entire collection and comparing it to iTunes to see if anything is missing?
All right, I'm wondering what the best IM client for OSX is at the moment? Preferably with video chat and an iPhone version.
I'm currently trying trillian on OSX, seeing if its any good. And I've had a look at adium but trillian looks better.
Just a quick question for anyone kind enough to take a moment to answer: I have a 24" 2.93GHz Core2 Duo iMac (last year's model) that shipped with 2 x 2GB (hence total 4GB) of RAM. I am starting to feel the crunch from more memory-intensive programs, and so the time has come to upgrade. is there a clear performance advantage to installing matching RAM sizes, as opposed to 2 sticks of different sizes? I noticed that [URL] currently offers an 8GB kit (2x4GB) for around $260. This is a bit beyond my budget, so I was thinking of instead just getting one 4GB through them for $130, and then mixing it with the Apple 2GB stick which is already in the computer. Would I see a significant performance upgrade with the 6GB mismatched RAM vs. the 4GB matched?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have and iMac on the way. Been using dual monitors for years with other operating systems. The second monitor I have is a 22" Planar PL2210MW that will do 1680x1050. The iMac is the 21.5" with the ATI Radeon HD 4670, 1TB drive, 3.06ghz Dual core.
How do you like it? I am still on Entourage 2004. I do not use exchange so not sure if it would be worth it. At the job we use Windows and Outlook anyways so dont know if it would be worth it to buy Outlook 2011. Is Outlook 2011 worth the price or should I stay with Office 2004? I use Mail a bit, but it lacks a number of features found in Entourage so I switch back and forth between the two mail clients.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm moving over to a iMac from PC in the next week or so (well will be putting in the order then) and already have decided that I need Office for Mac for Word and Excel (I use my home computer to do some work stuff on it - i find it easier than using the work laptop).
Anyway, I'm wondering if if i should get "professional" version of Office which also includes Outlook or if I should stick with Mail and therefore only get the "home / student" version of Office.
I've read on these forums that there are issues with Outlook syncing, but for what I have read this is via iTunes. So is there still the same problems if syncing via mobile me? Being able to sync using Mobile me is a big thing as I share calendars with my partner.
For what I have read, Mail is just emails and there are other apps for contacts and Calendars - do the three interact seamlessly and sync using mobile me.
I also understand that to get my old Outlook emails onto my new iMac and readable with Mail I will have to use a app to convert them - which seems to be no biggie according to those who have written about it.
So, my main concerns / questions are:-
-For those of you who have converted from Outlook to Mail - was it worth it, or would you have preferred to still be using Outlook;
- If I were to stick with Outlook, does it sync using mobile me;
- Does having 3 separate apps (Mail / Contacts / Calendars) work, or is having all 3 in one better.
I'm debating on macbook memory upgrade. I want to upgrade memories on my macbook 2007
Model Name:MacBook
Model Identifier:MacBook2,1
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2 GHz
Number Of Processors:1
Total Number Of Cores:2
L2 Cache:4 MB
Memory:1 GB
Bus Speed:667 MHz
I think the maximum capacity is up to 3 GB. , so wondering what's the best pair matching for most efficient result.
2 x 1 GB.
1x 1 GB. + 1x 2GB.
2 x 2 GB.
I have an application called AppFresh, which basically scans the apps I have for available updates, then it's supposed to update the ones that are available. However, every time I try to update an app, I get this response: "Download Successful. Installation failed (Bundle ID's don't match)." What does this mean, and how can I fix it? It'd be a handle little app if I could get it to work right.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm really in need of a new Mac, my iBook G4 still does what I need, but not so great in music production In any event, I don't have loads of money and as much as I'd like to buy a MBP, I'm lookin at the Mac Mini, more so now after seeing it can be upgraded beyond what apple is willing to offer. It voids the warranty but I don't care, I've been building computers since I was a kid with my dad (obviously started with PC). Problem is I can't find a central location about matching up CPU's or limitation and all that good stuff. Do you guys know where to point me so I can start checking prices on things to find out if it's worth the trouble?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created my account username om my Mac ( OSX 10.6.2 ) long before I created my website. If we take it that my user account name happens to be 'myname' and my website happens to be [URL]. I hadn't noticed it was a problem until the other day. I changed the site base ref to work from [URL] away from {URL]. The problem is on my Mac, the address [URL] is referring to the local web server, ie pre installed Apache and library/webserver/documents not the actual web address. If Web server is switched off via the sharing control panels - the address returns a google not found page? which seems very odd.
It will also do this from any user account - identical results, so I know the Mac has reserved the name in some way. I don't want to rename my user account. I cant see my own website on my Mac which is very frustrating, as my website root is forcing all traffic to [URL] ( which is what I want of course ) and not [URL]. I have to use Parallels with a version of Windows to see the site properly.
I've just signed on iCloud. An iTunes matching is taking too long to upload my music library to iCloud. My question is can I interrupt an upload process? Will iCloud peak it up where it left to continue an upload to iCloud?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble converting my Mac (not PC) Outlook Express messages to Entourage (eventually I would like to move them to Mac Mail as well). On my old iMac I ran System 8.6 and Outlook Express. The messages on my old iMac were mostly saved as a single file named "Messages" in my "Main Identity" folder - this is how Outlook Express seemed to save the messages. I now have a PowerMac G5 running 10.5.6 and running Mac Mail as well as Entourage. I need to have a look at my old backed-up messages for business purposes, but I am unable to do so. I have given away my old iMac and so now I am stuck with System X and Entourage/Mac Mail.
I have downloaded the PST Import Tool but it does not seem to recognise my Mac Outlook Express files. I tried to open the files with Entourage; my old Outlook Express "Messages file" is recognised (or labelled) as an "Entourage database" but it does not open. I did have some individual messages saved that I was able to simply copy and paste as messages on to Entourage. But 99% of the old messages are stored in this single, large "Messages" file. And it is this file which I need to convert/import and am unable to do so. How do I convert this mac file into something that Entourage or MS Mail is able to understands seems to be the key question. All of this is very disconcerting to me - I have been a Mac person all my life and given that I am not changing computer platforms, I did not expect to encounter such problems. And there are some important e-mails I really do need to retrieve.
At work we use Entourage with exchange access to our work email. My coworker would like to be able to back up all his emails in entourage, and transplant them to his home PC which is using Outlook, and have them be all in his inbox and whatnot...what do I have to do?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwell I'm about to start using either Mail or Entourage for my yahoo and Gmail accounts. I know that for Yahoo you need to pay $19.99/year or so to get it work on Mail/Entourage so I guess I got no choice but to do so. This will be my first time ever using a mail app because for years I've used the website-based e-mail only, so I'm still not so familiar with these apps. I've tried both Mail and Entourage and so far I like Entourage better. It just looks neater and seems to have more options than Mail (I might be wrong). Are there any downsides of Entourage I should be aware of? Is it possible to import all the birthday etc. alerts that I have on Yahoo mail calendar to Entourage calendar? Also, is it possible for Entourage to notify you when you receive an e-mail the way Mail does? Another thing: I heard that next year Outlook for Mac will be available with the release of Office 2010. Anybody know when MS plans to release it? Should I wait till then and just get Outlook instead or is the release date still quite remote?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to transfer some emails from Entourage on my wife's Powerbook to Outlook 2007 on a PC and don't see how to do it. When I choose "Export" in the Entourage File section I am able to create a folder with a .msbox suffix but don't see how to move that to Outlook. I see some file format conversion programs on the Internet but they all seem to deal with Outlook to Entourage conversion.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, on some of my emails, it shows its from a certain sender but the body of the email does not correspond. The odd thing is that on my iPhone, the emails are fine. I did recently get the new 27" iMac and restored from Time Machine however this is happening with new emails as well, not just old ones that were already on the computer. It's also only happening to some emails, not all.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing iMovie, I imported 15 minutes length of video from HANDYCAM SONY HDR-SR11 (Hard Disc type), everything looks good as the indicator also saying something like "completed importing 15 minutes of video". However the clip was not even created on the Event. I also tried to do the same for 1 Hour video, ended up the same. I click on the Event and It says 'No matching video. Choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner'. I choose different option but still can not see the clips with any options at all.
The facts :
1. I have no issue with importing shorter clips ( eg : 5 minutes )
2. The disc space is totally enough.
3. Importing from my old handycam canon ( MiniDV type ) has no issue at all.
I'm new to the Mac scene - but committed to a full switch, e.g. bought an iPhone, MacBook, signed up for the One-to-One classes... I'm tryin'
But until I'm even close to where I am with PC/PowerPoint, I need help with what must be an incredibly simple task - taking a slide from one Keynote deck and adding it to a different Keynote deck with a different format... and having it match the new format. You'd think (or at least I'd think) it'd be like Pages, e.g. "Paste and Match Style"... no dice. In PowerPoint, this is automatic - drop a slide behind a slide and it matches that slide.
I should be getting my iMac in the next few days and more than likely going to get the 24" ACD, so I can dual display it. I know there is a difference in height, so going to VESA wall mount the ACD. I know the 24" ACD is LED and a slightly different screen to the iMac, the question I have his will I be able to get the screens to look pretty much identical i.e. brightness, colours or will I have to get something to calibrate the screens?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDid Apple make a HUGE oversite in not making the monitors match in size to the iMac's? Am I the only one that would love to have an iMac with a second monitor? Being that the sleek look of my wifes iMac is amazing by itself, can imagine putting a monitor next to it that is of a different size and look. Why wouldn't Apple with all of its innovation and attention to detail with look and feel not have thought of this very thing? Is only 2 monitor sizes also a huge over site on the part of Apple?
