I'm looking for a Geektool script that will just display the battery percentage. Its mostly just for show and to slightly clean up my menubar, so its not that big of a deal.
I'm also looking for a way to make the menubar completely transparent, not translucent, so the menus and menubar items are just there sitting on the desktop.
This is for Snow Leopard.
Couple days ago i changed my menu bar to white with "OpaqueMenuBar" and then i wanted to change it back to normal. So i disabled OpaqueMenuBar and i deleted it. And Now my menubar is not transparent. Eventhough i enabled it in Desktop settings. What should i do??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently restored the default Leopard theme files after uninstalling a theme via Magnifique. However, I noticed that my transparent menu bar no longer has a gradient, though the menu bar has a gradient if I turn off transparency. I have re-enabled Core UI and transparent menu bar. I did another restore of the Leopard theme files using the iLeopard uninstaller. I have attached a screen clipping. My menubar is on the left. What it is supposed to look like is on the right.
How do I restore the gradient for the translucent menu bar? Is this done by setting an environment variable? I found this article:[URL]
Apparently you get a flat menubar if you disable transparency manually. Is there a similar way to restore the gradient when you re-enable the transparency?
I noticed that when I click on the or one of the other menus at the top, it seems to be solid white, but when I move my head to view it from the side, it appears transparent. Is this normal?

View 3 Replies View Related I'm looking to modify the cal command that I've seen used for calendars in GeekTool to create a horizontal calendar.
I don't care about days of the week so much, I just think it would be interesting to have all of the days of the week listed out in order at the bottom of my screen, with the current one marked.
So, I need two things:
I need to strip out of the cal command the days of the week at the top (or repeat them the appropriate number of times, but I imagine that will be far more difficult) and the line breaks at the end of each week. This is the most important part.
Secondly, I'd like to find a way to add bars (like this: |) on either side of the current date without replacing the numbers as most of the calendars I've seen have done it.

If I can just modify that to get what I want, that's fine, if I have to use something completely different, that's fine. I just would love to have a horizontal calendar.
While diagnosing another problem, I removed GeekTool from my Login Items.
I now want to put GeekTool back into my Login Items, but I can't find any way to do it?!?! It's a PrefPane item, but there's no option to select.
Seeing as GeekTool is old and inefficient, I am considering creating a new tool that is less of a burden on system resources.
I want to know what features you would like to see in a new version of the tool. I'm thinking native support for basic stuff such as getting the date and time without having to run a shell command.
In Leopard Console I like to see: Log Database Queries/All Messages.
the path for GeekTool menu to display All Messages. Is this considered a shell or a file.
I have two geektool scripts written in to the app, but it wont display.
Any chance someone could look and let me know what I'm doing wrong? I'm sure its something stupid.
The second I exit this screen, everything goes away and nothing displays.
just found Geektool and it's great. It's so useful, however i found that i cannot use Camouflage with it. Is there other way to do it? Or perhaps is there a way to double click the destop to open a finder window? Either are good solutions for me.

I've read many different websites on how to do this and I'm stumped. I don't really understand code, don't use iCal, and have no idea how to read my terminal info.
I'd like to use Geektool b/c of the customization it offers, but I'd also like to be able to use something where I can simply view my to-do list and it refreshes automatically. The thing is I need something that's free.

I have a question for anyone out there who is into customizing their desktop. This is my current desktop setup (for my second display) created with Geektool. I'm pretty happy with it but being as anal as I am I want the AM/PM lights to be lit properly.
I can create two desktop wallpapers but OSX wallpaper settings aren't detailed enough to change the image every 12 hours. The only other thing I could think of was to create a 24 hour video, 12 hours of AM followed by 12 of PM. Then use Mach Desktop to play the video.
Though this is crazy overkill and would unnecessarily use a ton of resources. Any ideas would be awesome!

Unfortunately, this black box in the upper-left hand corner somehow appeared and now won't go away. I then uninstalled and am now running GeekTool 3.0. The problem persists. Is there a way I can get rid of this box, yet keep the changes I've already made in my dock?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac 10.6.8 running Snow Leopard. My battery won't charge: all I get is "Not Charging" in the menu bar battery status; the power adapter doesn't light up either. It's not a problem with the battery—when I put my battery in my friend's MacBook, it worked just fine. His battery, however, wouldn't charge either when it was in my computer. I have tried resetting the SMC several times, following the instructions exactly. I've reset the PRAM, run disk repair, and fixed disk permissions. I don't have the money to take it to a repairman—even if I did, I need my computer every day for work.

I've just switched to mac and have a beginner's question: Although I selected a strong red color for my work calendar, the events are only shown in a transparent red. This actually applies to all calendars. Is there a possibility to see the full colors i.o non-transparent?

View 1 Replies View Related so just the other day, I noticed that my safari window was fading transparent any time I would make it an inactive window, for example by clicking onto the desktop. I don't know why or how this could have happened, although the only thing I remember installing recently enough was "Inquisiter" for Safari, but I've uninstalled that and it still seems to be happening.
I'm using the most recent version of the Safari 4 beta in case you needed to know.
I guess it's not really a BIG deal since it doesn't really harm my ability to do anything in OS X, but I'm just a little confused as to how this happened in the first place. Does anybody know why or how this happened and how I could disable this?

I'm stuck on a rather buggy problem. I'm trying to produce animated gifs with transparent backgrounds for incorporation into a Keynote (v. 3) presentation. [The individual frames of the substantial animations I am creating are being produced in Matlab using the "print -dpng" command with white backgrounds, which I then want to make transparent.] I seem to be able to download silly animated gifs with transparent backgrounds from the web that display correctly in Keynote. But when I produce such animations myself using convert [from the imagemagick suite, both the version distributed with fink and the more recent version available at [URL] all frames after the first display with white backgrounds in Keynote (but look ok elsewhere). Optimizing the animated transparent gifs in adobe ImageReady CS (v. 1) Does anyone know a good mac program to make animated gifs (with transparent backgrounds) that display correctly in the latest version of Keynote?
