Applications :: IStat Network Menu And New IMac
Oct 26, 2009I use iStat menus to show my network upload and download speeds. I got my new 27" iMac yesterday and installed iStat Menus and for some reason the Up/Down speeds from the Airport do not register at all. I have iStat set to the Airport as the only option and is the priority. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iStat Menus and still no luck getting anything to work.

Jul 1, 2012I have a Mac 10.6.8 running Snow Leopard. My battery won't charge: all I get is "Not Charging" in the menu bar battery status; the power adapter doesn't light up either. It's not a problem with the battery—when I put my battery in my friend's MacBook, it worked just fine. His battery, however, wouldn't charge either when it was in my computer. I have tried resetting the SMC several times, following the instructions exactly. I've reset the PRAM, run disk repair, and fixed disk permissions. I don't have the money to take it to a repairman—even if I did, I need my computer every day for work.

Applications :: IStat Menus 3.0 Battery Meter Not Accurate?
Sep 17, 2010I just upgraded to iStat Menus 3.0, and was trying to use the new Battery meter. I was running on Battery when I installed it, and I was comparing it to the Apple meter to make sure it matched, and the % and time remaining was identical. Then I plugged my MacBook in, and iStat said it had like 3:00 hours remaining to a full charge, and the Apple meter said like 1:48. I let it discharge completely thinking that might help, but its still messed up. Right now iStat says 2:03 remaining, and Apple says 1:05. Both of the percentages are at 77%. Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?

Jul 2, 2008Because it happened to me a few times where the cursor will skip or one time the cursor wont even move or be responsive with my finger. The weird part is that once I exit safari the trackpad seems to work again perfectly. Also not sure if its because I have sweaty hands and my fingers are too wet? But its not something excessively sweaty or nasty just a lil moisture I guess on my finger tips at times.
Update: Never mind, found out the culprit istat pro.

Aug 20, 2010I calibrated my battery for the first time since Dec. When I plugged it in this morning, it took 3 hours to charge all the way, and now it's stuck on 99% full, 0:00 till completely charged, and I'm getting an error when I click on the battery in the menu bar that says "Service Battery". When I click on the error, it tells me that it may not be functioning properly and to take it to an authorized apple service retailer. Before I waste 2 hours by going to the Apple store and back, has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to fix it without having it looked at?

MacBook :: Battery No Longer Holds Long Charge / Worth Pursuing A Replacement Battery?
Jun 2, 2009 purchased a macbook Unibody back in October 2008 when they were released and use it heavily. The battery no longer holds a nice long charge - I get about 2 to 2.5 hours out of a full charge.
The battery has 149 cycles on it, which is obviously high (and correct, I use the hell out of it). With it still being in warranty, is it worth pursuing a replacement battery? Will Apple tell me to go take a hike with the high cycle counts?

Nov 21, 2009I'm looking for a Geektool script that will just display the battery percentage. Its mostly just for show and to slightly clean up my menubar, so its not that big of a deal.
I'm also looking for a way to make the menubar completely transparent, not translucent, so the menus and menubar items are just there sitting on the desktop.
This is for Snow Leopard.

Nov 15, 2010been using my older MBP with windows 7 for a while and have never notice oddies with the battery until now. Then recently after replacing the failed HD and re-installing Snow Leopard on my 2007 MBP, the battery panel is telling me "Service Battery"; it's battery health according to coconutBattery is fair for it's age (50%).
the unit (battery) has been replaced previously due to being considered 'under performing'. Is Snow Leopard trying to encurate it's users to replace the battery more frequently? If not, does anyone know why this appears? I'm at lost, since it appears to work fine, if not charging completely.

Jul 20, 2010So, I randomly clicked on my battery and noticed this "Service Battery" message. I had never seen it before. Obviously, this isn't a good thing. My Mac is 3 and a half years old so I'm not surprised this message poped up. So, I opened Coconut Battery and noticed my current battery capacity is at 65%. Even though charger says it's green, my battery isn't even charging. Should I make an appointment with Apple? My AppleCare expired so i'll have to buy a new battery when the time comes. I'm sure they're not cheap, either.

Dec 5, 2014I have bought MBA last month only. I could see the battery back up will be for 13 hours if I charge completely. Few days back I have updated OS to 10.10.1. Battery back up has been fallen down to just 3 hours after complete charging. I will either use safari to browse or see some videos. I have checked the condition of the Battery. Its showing Normal. No apps are using significant energy as well. Also it significantly increases the heat which I have never seen while using Mavericks. What should I do to get back my 13 hours battery back up.

Nov 7, 2009I'm having in issue with my 13 " macbook (Late 2008). It's not charging! When I plug my adapter in, the little charging indicator is a faint green, not the bright green it usually is. It does show on my computer that the adapter is connected, but it's not charging.I recently reformatted my whole computer (started from scratch). Also, I was having battery issues a few months back and got the battery replaced, so I don't think it's a battery issue.I also reset the PRAM and checked my adapter and port for dirt and such, but it's pretty clean.

Mar 1, 2010Our old battery said it was needing to be replaced and my dad went out and bought a new battery for our 15" MBP from 2008 - running SL. I've put it in, it works, I've plugged the power cord into it, and the little light that indicates it's charging doesn't turn on. I checked in the menu and it said the battery isn't charging.
I've already pulled it out and then put it back in, shutting down of course. And I just tried resetting the SMC which has done nothing. It's not under warranty. I've just put the old battery back in and it doesn't seem to be charging it either. I'd be curious if the power cord was faulty, but it's powering the MBP at the moment.

3) I've heard somewhere that it's bad to shut your Macbook off when you go out/go to sleep. Would it be wiser to just set it to "sleep" and keep it plugged in or something?
