OS X :: ITunes Album Grouping?
Apr 17, 2009I downloaded the Watchmen Soundtrack (not from iTunes) and it imported into iTunes under all the same album art, same album name, but in coverflow each song shows up independently, and it shows an album for each song. (Like, there's ~10 songs, each one shows up on its own in coverflow with its own album cover, even though they're all the same album image.)

I have it all organized in my music folder, but if I add the whole music folder to my library, it duplicates everything. Sep 26, 2010This has happened for a few months now, ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8 I believe, and now that I'm using iTunes more often it's starting to get annoying. I will play an album in iTunes. Once the album finishes, instead of stopping playback, iTunes will play an apparently random song from my library (though each album seems to be linked to a different song, which changes every now and then. I've been unable to find any pattern). Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas? I don't think this is just a problem for me - it happens to some friends who have iTunes as well. I've searched on Google and on this forum and couldn't find any solutions.

Feb 17, 2008I'm running iTunes 7.6 on a MBP 2.4GHz with 10.5.2 installed. Last night, after having a problem with Compressor not launching(ie it would launch but no window would display), I was forced to take Apple's Compressor Troubleshooting basics and trash Compressor, Qmaster, and Motion. I reinstalled those applications without a hitch and everything is working. Or so it seems until this morning when I tried to play a song in iTunes. It would hang up briefly, then quit. The subsequent error message was that "...The Problem may have been caused by the FX plug-in." I trashed CoverSutra, thinking that may have been the problem, despite the fact I never used it. I even uninstalled iWOW2 with no results. Trashing the iTunes .plist did yield some positive results as songs would play, but if I tried to quit iTunes, it will automatically relaunch.
After perusing the Apple support discussion, it seems this is a common problem, although many of the reports were from last month. I just find it odd that all of a sudden I'm now encountering these problems. I do have Synergy installed, but I've never had any problems with it before in the past and even with it not running, iTunes still behaves poorly.

Sep 28, 2009I'm subscribed to about 10 differet podcasts, and I just realised that there hasn't been a new episode of any of them in a while. I right clicked them all in turn, and chose Update Podcast, and lo and behold, a whole slew of episodes started downloading. For some of them there are even more than 1 episode that hasn't downloaded. Can anyone tell me why iTunes doesn't automatically download new episodes of these subscribed podcasts? iTunes is set to check everyday for new episodes, but simply seems to have not bothered! This has happened a few times before too.
EDIT - From iTunes saying that there are no new episodes of any of my subscribed to podcasts, I've ended up with 20 downloads after manually checking.

Oct 26, 2009I moved my entire 1.4TB iTunes folder to my Drobo. Then I went into preferences and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location, and I also have Keep iTunes music folder organized. That worked fine all of the music, movies and TV shows opened up fine. Than after adding a new HDD to my drobo I opened my iTunes and all of a sudden it gives me the ! next to all my files and wants me to locate them, and the folder is still the same in the folder location. Is there anyway to fix this, or to automatically reconnect all my media instead of doing it 1 by 1.

Is there an option I can set to where my computer will automatically delete the songs from the hard drive after it copies them to the iTunes folder? There is no sense in wasting space, and it seems trivial to have to delete them manually after they were copied automatically.
Also is there a setting to prevent iTunes from automatically adding and copying a song to it's library when a new song is played from any location on the hard drive?

Mar 27, 2012Just updated to lion and have found that I can no longer select or unselect the collate option when printing from preview. The collate select button is available when printing from adobe reader or word, but it is nowhere to be found under any of the preview print options since the update. Has it been moved to some super secret location? Â
I included the screen shots of adobe reader and preview print windows. The collate selection button in preview used to be located to the right of the # of copies window. Â

Jan 22, 2009I recently ran into a big problem where I had to completely erase every ID3 tag in my library to restore aobut 5% of my library (confusing, I know). This was no big deal because my iTunes XML file contained all song information.
Everytime I click a song to play it, my custom iTunes song tags for that song are replaced with the "updated" ID3 tags. I am losing all of my song information each and every time I play a different song in iTunes.
I've already tried deleting all songs in my library and re-importing using my backed-up XML file, but to no avail. The songs are imported with their correct custom tags, but they change when I go to play the song.

Jan 16, 2010Is there any way to rename the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder? I've tried and it doesn't add them to iTunes if it's been renamed.
I know you can make an alias, but I want to put the folder in the Finder sidebar, and if you put an alias there it just puts the real folder there instead.
Only reason I ask is because it's got a really long name, and it looks out of place in the sidebar next to short name folders!

Initially I just disabled it by removing components from prefs or other locations in /Library or using AppDelete. Jul 24, 2010I have a Mac Mini, which I primarily leave running to access any files I store on it with my macbook pro being my main machine for daily use.
I will download/buy music on the Pro and will sometimes be a little while before synching it to the Mini via "Home Sharing". Now I have to do this manually right now, but is there a way to setup a script to automatically run on a scheduled basis on the Mini to check for media not in the Mini library and download them automatically from my macbook pro? I only have the two macs using Home Sharing.
I tried looking at scripts, but I saw stuff from using rsync, not sure if automating syncing via Home Sharing would even work by using an applescript of some type or if rysnc is what I would want to use.
ITunes :: Opens And Plays Certain MP3 Files Automatically
Feb 3, 2012This just started in the last week or two, but my itunes will be completely closed, and suddenly it opens and play a certain mp3 file, then the next then one more. This isn't any particular playlist or anything. The files are probably all in my download folder and it just goes in order. This happens many times per day. Often times my computer was actually asleep and it wakes it to play these files.
Looking at my console log, I get the following two things right when it happens.

So I'm assuming whatever is happening has to do with these log items. How to stop this? It's very bothersome when I'm in the middle of a business call, etc. I need to keep my MBP volume up as well because I have various alerts I need to hear.

Jun 23, 2012Upon plugging my iPod Nano into my Macbook Pro, random songs become rated 4/5 stars, messing up my 'Top Rated' playlist. No, I've never rated these songs before or touched their album artwork etc. so I don't understand how these songs can be rated automatically despite playing some of the songs only once.
