I'm really hoping someone can bail me out here. I'm trying to add sound in the background of a iDVD 7 menu, and it's driving me crazy. I've tried dragging the audio file from the media pane to the dvd menu, to the inspector window and to the menu drop box several times (just like the manual instructs) and it won't work. It doesn't play back or burn with the sound in the menu.

I can't work out a way to do this in iDVD without having to use one of their crappy "themes" which i really don't want to do.
I have two questions/issues with iDVD. I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to iDVD but I have checked all over the internet for the answers.
First I am using the soft frame theme and I am using all three drop zones with video filling them. When I play back the dvd in the dvd preview the video plays very choppy. It is almost frame by frame. The effects of the menu are also slow (in fact the whole preview of the dvd seems to be slow).
My second problem is that when adding background music the dvd takes the whole length of the song to loop, and in the short time is takes someone to choose a button the first drop zone is still looping.
ow do i burn a movie .mp4 straight to a dvd without all the idvd menus. having a lot of problems burning it through idvd.

I have 12 Videos in .mov format that I saved from .wmv format using quicktime and flip4mac. I have also tried saving them as AVI and same result.
Here's the problem, when I put them into iDVD and save as disk image to check, the videos are there, but no sound. I tried also burning them to DVD, using a maxell DVD-R 16x, and all the will come up on the dvd is the title menu. Movies will not play on my macbook or in the dvd player on TV. I tried using the .avi format but there still was no sound, and the movies were really choppy.
if i try to use iMovie, it will not even import these .mov files (doesn't let me click on them to import)
is there another format i need to export to, or change some setting to get the sound in my project, and get the movies to play have i burn them?
All the movies are approx 1hr long except one, and I was using the best performance setting putting 2 movies per dvd.
I couldn't find what I was looking for in MRoogle.
The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.

I've tried iDVD for the first time today and have had mixed results.I tried putting some Bugs Bunny cartoons I have as avi files into a Magic iDVD project to make a DVD.
The titles are great, the video quality is super, but there's no sound.Not a peep.They play fine in VLC, but without sound in Quick Time.I know nothing about video editing, so am hoping this is a just a codec issue that is easily rectified given a nudge in the right direction.
The English dialogues in sound surround 4.0 of a DVD are completely muffled when playing on my MacBookPro. The rest of the same soundtrack is fine (music, etc.). The dialogues in other languages on the same DVD work fine (they are in 2.0 sound surround). My other DVDs are working fine on the same MacBookPro.The problem occurs only with one particular DVD, with the English dialogues. The same DVD plays fine on other computers and DVD equipment. What is the explanation or what could be wrong when playing it on my MacBookPro? I have tried disabling the Dolby dynamic range compression in iDVD Preferences > Disc Setup - but this made no difference at all.

i purchased my computer a while back though apple (FA356LL/A) and it never came with a dedicated sound board. I have some speakers just added through the audio jack in the back of the tower.I would like to enjoy a better sound and was wondering how I could upgrade this system part. What card could be added to get better sound?

I downloaded some wave sounds that I like to a folder on my HD, but can't figure out how to add them to the 'sound effects' folder in my System Preferences. What's the procedure or am I going about this all wrong.

Its a nice app, but I'm not sure if its needed, even if its only 10 bucks.

Don't get me wrong, if I like an application, I'll buy it. I've purchased delta walker (compare utility) and will be upgrading my transmit to version 4.

Does anyone know if it is possible for me to monitor my Time Capsule's hard drive and temperature with iStat menus version 1.3?
I used to monitor the disk space on an old external HD with iStat, but I can't even do that with my Time Capsule.
I would like to backup my dvd's I want to rip the entire dvd including menus. My problem is mac the ripper is not doing so well with new movies i get errors about padding sectors the playback does not work. So whats the best way to rip the full dvd I have tried handbreak but I don't see a way to rip the entire dvd with menus and such.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to iStat Menus 3.0, and was trying to use the new Battery meter. I was running on Battery when I installed it, and I was comparing it to the Apple meter to make sure it matched, and the % and time remaining was identical. Then I plugged my MacBook in, and iStat said it had like 3:00 hours remaining to a full charge, and the Apple meter said like 1:48. I let it discharge completely thinking that might help, but its still messed up. Right now iStat says 2:03 remaining, and Apple says 1:05. Both of the percentages are at 77%. Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
View 12 Replies View RelatedThere was an error during rendering/encoding of the menus/slideshows. The burning process has been canceled.
It offers no course of action so in Project Info I tried each quality, widescreen and standard, but each time I attempt to burn the dvd it will process the menus, render menu 1 of 1 and all 3 transitions and at the end of this segment I receive the same error message before it starts to process the slideshows of which there are three.
After installing the latest update for iDVD- I can't open the program! I tried the "fix" posted on the Apple site- no luck. It worked fine before the latest update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running the latest iStat Menus (2.0) on Snow Leopard 10.6.2. All the displayed data shows just fine with the exception of the Network (bandwidth) menu. The graph does not reflect bandwidth being used and the "KB/s" displays a constant "0.0KB/s." I've tried rebooting and I've also tried manually selecting "Airport" in the General Settings in iStat Menus' Preference Pane.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
(iStat Pro, the widget version of this program, displays the bandwidth data though.)
I've read numerous posts here saying that its possible to use AVI files in iDVD to make a DVD, but I can't figure out how to do it. I have a series of AVI files that I want to burn to a DVD that will work on any DVD player but iDVD won't even let me preview them (I just get a blank black screen)...

I've done a few (well a lot) of DVDs now with iDVD using avi files on my hard disk with a view to either giving as presents or watching with the family on TV.
We do not want to hover around my laptop to watch a movie In about 90% of these iDVD created DVDs I get an error message from iDVD that there was a problem during encoding and if we try to watch them throgh the TV/DVD player then the film just stops about 75% of the way through.
I have a project already started in iDVD. When I try to add a movie to it, it says that my iMovie project can not be used yet because it hasn't been prepared for sharing. It tells me to go to iMovie - Share - Media Browser. When I do that and try to click on Share, nothing is available to be used.

I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
Is there any beneficial gain from one format over the other? Is one more well designed for widescreen?

I know there are external burners, but I rather not buy one. Are there any types of services that do that? I know there are ones for tapes to dvds, but this is already on my computer.. Can I save it and do it through a pc? Would I have to convert the file?

I've tried using MPeg Streamclip and Prism to convert them to smaller sizes, but without any luck, they just come out bigger.
so i have some bike racing videos that im trying to burn using iDVD but the files are a little to large for single layer. the files are varying in size from 1.1-1.6 gig in AVI video format. when i just drag one of the files into a project its says its to large and when opening up project manger its been expanded to 6+ gigs and wont fit. so what can i do besides burning to dual layer dvd's, what program do i need or perhaps already have that can compress the video enough so that once dropped into iDVD it will fit on a single layer dvd. also am i going to be dropping the quality of the video so low that its not going to look good?
