I'm building a presentation in Keynote 09 and cannot seem to add a shadow to text inside a table. I've selected the table, the individual cells and the text itself and the shadow checkbox on the menu is no where to be found.
View 1 RepliesOk so I am making a presentation using Keynote '09. I have one slide that has a huge table of different appliances and their cost. Here is what I would like to do: the first row is entitled "refrigerator". I would like there to be one slide that just has the table title and this first row. Then I would like to show the next slide, which has pictures and descriptions of the specific refrigerator on it. Then, the next slide would be the table again, except this time another row would appear, in this case entitled "heating", then I could show the next slide which has info about the heating system, etc., etc. I have used Magic Move (and love it btw), but that can only be used on the slide right after the target slide, so that would not work for this since they have a slide in between them. I have no idea if this is possible, and maybe the only way to do this is to make a different slide every time, but if there is an easy way to do this that would be awesome!!

This could easily be done with Windows but I'm struggling to find the OSX equivalent.
Coloured labels don't cut it as they don't apply to folder descriptions and don't come in white.
I can't figure out how to change the background color of text in Keynote 09.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs a recent convert from PowerPoint to Keynote 09, I can't figure out how to do the following: In PowerPoint, I'd often have text animations (e.g. bullet points would appear in a certain way when the mouse clicked) such that the bullet points would appear in groups. For example, the first two would appear together, then on the next mouse click, the next three would appear at the same time. In Keynote it seems you can do this, but the bullets don't appear together, the second will only appear when the first has finished "appearing". Is it possible to get the bullets to appear in groups on a mouse click?

My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?

I know I will be using a Macbook 2,1 tomorrow for the presentation. Does anyone know if all the transitions will work or would if be safer to export it as a movie file?

I have a list in ascii/text format, where columns are separated by "|"'s. I'd like to read this into Numbers but by default it doesn't know what to do with those "|"'s of course. I've heard (though am unable to verify) that Excel has this ability to recognize separator symbols and put it in separate columns. Is there a way to do this with Numbers or any other Apple program?

Unfortunately, it always returns 0 no matter what arguments I give it.
Manually adding cells works fine i.e. "=C1+C2+...+C14".
I've been working hard on this document in Pages which had 3 tables in. I have been saving it as I have gone on and just now I have scrolled up to realise one of the tables is missing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI came across some strange Grab behavior today while trying to capture a maximized window using the shortcut key for a window grab.
While having the window I wanted to grab active, I pressed Cmd + Shift + 4 to get the box selection grab, then pressed Space to get the Window capture tool. I clicked the active window and this is what came out:
As you can see, the right side of the window is missing..
Can someone reproduce this? Or is it just on my end?
Is it normal for a blue shadow to appear on the bottom of the screen whenever the background is black? I noticed it when I watch videos or the background is black by that spot. I bought my laptop in Feb. Does it need to be repaired? or would they even repair it? This is my first time owning any Mac computer.

I am a complete newbie to Keynote. Are there any books or websites that have good indepth literature to teach me how to get the most out of Keynote? I know there are video tutorials but I'd rather have a book that I can have sitting next to me when I am on my Macbook Pro or that I can read when I am out and about.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen copying a table from say a webpage or even a RTF file, Pages does not retain its table formatting. Instead it separates the rows and columns and puts them on separate lines.
See it for yourself, try copying one of the tables on this page into Pages [URL]
The only way I can get the table into Pages is to paste into NeoOffice (which retains the correct formating), save the file with the .doc extension then open in Pages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have funny problem, well more of an annoyance than a problem. On my MBP, after maybe a day or two without rebooting (ie. just closing the lid), the mouse cursor drop shadow disappears and the cursor gets jaggy/aliased edges (imagine the cursor from Windows XP, but black). A reboot will bring it back.
The MacBook Pro is a stock late 2009 17" - 2.8Ghz, 4GB etc. with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (this annoyance has happened since 10.6.1). I have the graphics mode set to performance as 90% of the time I use the machine, I'm plugged in.
I've tried to see if there's a pattern to it, but it's seemingly random. Sometimes it's the same day as a reboot, sometimes I go a whole week without rebooting and still have the proper cursor. It's pretty weird. I originally thought it may have related to opening the lid while on battery power, however it's happened a couple of times when I've opened the lid while plugged.
Edit: Another interesting point.... if I plug an external display in, the cursor gets back its shadow, but then when I unplug the screen, it will return to the jaggy look (until a reboot).
When Steve Jobs does his presentation he frequently uses a transition whereas a big announcement is being made, say, a price drop or a launch date the announcement is made with a transition that drops down and lands with a 'thud' and there is then smoke rising from the word that dropped down.
Can anyone tell me what transition this is and where I could get it to implement into my presentation?

say I have a Keynote presentation with four slides. In the first slide I have hyperlinks to pages 2, 3 and 4. Can I have a different transition effect for each slide so that when I click on hyperlink for slide 2 I have the cube transition, when I click on hyperlink for page 3 I have the flip transition... etc?
What is the best way for someone to save a Windows PPT file (XP version of PPT) that it will play the "most nicely" with Keynote? Does anyone know of any options on the Windows side that will help?
The main issues that I seem to be seeing are that the slides are opened in Keynote at 720x540 instead of 1024x768 and that there are a few font issues. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to "idiot" proof this and cut out any additional steps after opening the project on a Mac.
