MacBook Pro :: Blue Shadow On Screen?

Jul 1, 2012

Is it normal for a blue shadow to appear on the bottom of the screen whenever the background is black? I noticed it when I watch videos or the background is black by that spot. I bought my laptop in Feb. Does it need to be repaired? or would they even repair it? This is my first time owning any Mac computer.

MacBook :: Battery Life On Late 2009 White MacBook & Screen Shadow ?

Oct 31, 2010

I have a late 2009, white unibody MacBook which is 7 months old, and I have been noticing that the battery life is getting less and less, and am rather confused.I reset the SMC as per Apple instructions, and then followed the battery calibrating guide to the letter from apple.com, and tonight it seems to have lasted... 3.5 hrs! Hardly the quoted 7 hours that Apple spec, and I am simply doing light web browsing, nothing else.Am I doing something wrong? The machine sits connected to magsafe 90% of the time, but I cannot envisage that would cause any problem, as it knows when it is charged, so afaik no more current can get to the battery to damage it

MacBook :: Screen Goes Blue While Using / Diffrent Blue Colors Appear On Screen?

Sep 17, 2010

while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.

dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.

IMac :: Screen Has Shadow / Cloud / Smoke / Milky Spots?

Jan 28, 2009

The thing is, that the machine is turned off on the images.

Before shooting the attached images I had just cleaned the screen using a damp cloth and afterwards wiped it with a dry microfiber cloth. Just to make sure it wasn't dust or fingermarks.

I also tried to see if it was just shadows from lamps in the room, but it wasnt.

The areas shown on the images only appears when turned off. Now when sitting in front af the machine they are not visible.

what it is, how to remove them, or know if this is a consideren an error worthy of a return.

MacBook :: Screen Not Working Fine / Blue Screen Appears And Then Everything Gets Dark

Aug 2, 2010

I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). Sometimes only the right side of the screen is blue and then gets dark just like the left one. I was looking for the problem and I perceived that the left side seems to be loose and I can't fix it. What should I do?

MacBook Pro :: Grey Screen No Apple Followed By Blue Screen With Vertical Lines?

Nov 30, 2014

grey screen no apple followed by blue screen with vertical lines. Graphics and logic board replaced <6 months ago. What to do? I held down shift, it gets HOT HOT and makes noises. (for safety mode) followed by a blank grey screen and blue screen. Then tried the other way (I think  it's command alt delete? I don't remember) and it turned from grey (no apple symbol) to blue blank. Then third time, grey followed by blue with vertical lines, not blocky clear lines that you can see if you are close to it.

MacBook Pro :: Mouse Cursor Drop Shadow?

Apr 18, 2010

I have funny problem, well more of an annoyance than a problem. On my MBP, after maybe a day or two without rebooting (ie. just closing the lid), the mouse cursor drop shadow disappears and the cursor gets jaggy/aliased edges (imagine the cursor from Windows XP, but black). A reboot will bring it back.

The MacBook Pro is a stock late 2009 17" - 2.8Ghz, 4GB etc. with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (this annoyance has happened since 10.6.1). I have the graphics mode set to performance as 90% of the time I use the machine, I'm plugged in.

I've tried to see if there's a pattern to it, but it's seemingly random. Sometimes it's the same day as a reboot, sometimes I go a whole week without rebooting and still have the proper cursor. It's pretty weird. I originally thought it may have related to opening the lid while on battery power, however it's happened a couple of times when I've opened the lid while plugged.

Edit: Another interesting point.... if I plug an external display in, the cursor gets back its shadow, but then when I unplug the screen, it will return to the jaggy look (until a reboot).

OS X :: MacBook Won't Start Beyond Blue Screen

Oct 4, 2008

I've had a MacBook for about four months, completely standard version, no modifications, no nothing. It's been working perfectly. I've the latest version of Leopard and any other software update that comes with. Today I've been working on setting up a new user account entitled "Work" - for obvious purposes. I've copied my regular account's home folder as well as applications and such to make "Work" as much of a copy of my regular account as possible - let's call that account "Me".

And so I've mostly been browsing around "Work" trying to give it the same access to files as "Me" has - "Me" is an administrator, "Work" is standard - by changing access and privileges. I had some problems getting "Work" to save - when I would log out and then log in again, "Work" would have lost the preferences, e.g. Stacks and Dock settings. I also couldn't change the desktop picture for whatever reason.

So then I was going to log out "Work" to see if it still had the saving problem, and it lagged behind a lot, so I did the emergency-turn-off-by-holding-down-power-button-that-you're-not-supposed-to-do thing. And then when I tried to restart, it wouldn't............

OS X :: MacBook Just Stuck On Blue Screen?

Oct 3, 2009

I'm using Macbook Pro Unibody (late 2008). 2.4GHz, 2GB Ram. Mac OS X. So I'm in the library right now and tried to start my computer, and it is just stuck on the blue screen. It worked fine like an hour ago, I don't know what happened. So I hear the chime, and the white screen with apple logo. And then, blue screen and I see that little circle thing going around and around on and off, but nothing. I do hear the fan and hardware. I tried to do PRAM reset, but it doesn't work? I tried to look for other posts with similar symptoms, but couldn't find anything.

MacBook :: Boots To Blue Screen Only

Jul 1, 2010

A few days ago my macbook froze, when I did a hard reboot it boots to bluescreen. I've even left it up overnight just in case it was talking awhile.

Here is what I've tried so far:
-boot into safemode, holding in shift does nothing.
-Tried to run disk utility, it said something like it couldn't be done (forgot the exact message)
-reinstall the OS from cd, but holding in c causes it to reboot.
-holding option and clicking the cd to boot from causes a reboot also
-command-option-shift-delete does nothing
-Gone into single user mode done the fsck thing, also tried this [URL]

Starting to think the HDD is shot. Just noticed an error when I type in /sbin/fsck -fy it says "Incorrect block count for file pcscd.pub it should be 16 instead of 17. Not sure if that means anything. Was able to run disk utility now, no errors were found however it still will only boot to blue screen.

MacBook Pro :: Blue Screen On Startup

Apr 3, 2012

After updating the mac os and other applications that displayed in the update software notification, some of my apps wouldn’t open or start up. The icon would bounce in the sidebar like it was trying to open but then a crash report would display. Then last night, I started up the computer to find that it loaded the blue screen of death. I tried to load in safe user mode, but it only loads the different background, but no apps or finder displays. I also tried to load the OS disk that was provided at the time of purchase, but am not sure if i am doing that correctly. I can't seem to get past the blue screen.

MacBook Pro :: Stuck At Blue Screen - Cannot Access Anything

Dec 8, 2010

I have a Macbook Pro, have had it for about a couple of years now. Monday of this week, the computer was acting a little sluggish, so I decided to shut down the computer, let it cool down for a couple of hours, then turn it back on later. Well, once I decided to do that, I noticed after the grey screen & Apple logo screen appeared, the screen showed about 2 different versions of blue & stayed on the blue screen. After 3-5 minutes I knew something was wrong, so I just tried restarting, nothing worked. So I google up similar problems, none have a conclusive ending. I didn't recently install any new hardware, all I did recently was sync new photos from a trip to NYC. I've tried a PRAM Reset, SMC Reset. Boot from Snow Leopard CD, ran Disk Utility, repair disk permissions and repaired the disk, tried a reinstall of Snow Leopard, Install failed.

I checked the log, it says:
file://localhost/System/Installation/Packages/MediaFiles.pkg
Failed to load (or something along the lines of that).

So, I went and got the Leopard disk that came with the computer and tried an archive and install, 15 mins later Install failed once again, yet it used about 4 GB in the process, so I went from 82 GB to 78 GB of space available. So I put in the SL disk once again and tried to see if I still had the files on my HD still there by goign all of the way to the section where it asks you to accept the license agreement and if you want to save it. I clicked save to search my files, and they're still there, but I can't access them. I'm currently stuck at Purdue in the middle of Indiana and the nearest Apple Store is over an hour away. I really need to get my files off of that MBPro. If I can't even login, how can I go about doing so if I have a iMac with over 800GB of space & an ethernet cable?

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Boot Pass The Blue Screen?

Jan 6, 2011

My macbook pro cannot boot pass the blue screen, all startup keys failed to work [URL]. If all I need is one successful boot to copy all my files off the hard disk. Should I:

A. leave it as it is and hope for the blue screen will eventually go away;

B. keep rebooting and hope for the computer will boot up correctly by chance; or

C. Power off and unplug everything, leave it overnight and try booting it again next morning?

I've heard some people could get their computer back to normal just by option C, which sounds weird to me. Is that possible? How does that work?
