View 6 Replieslong time reader, first time poster. I know this topic has been beaten to death - but I've read all the post and have not found an answer for my question.
If you have iLife 08 installed and just installed a new copy of iLife 09 - does the following happen?
1. iLife 08 gets removed.
2. All Data from iPhoto 08, iMovie 08, iDVD etc, gets transferred to the new application.
3. No Importing is required to move any of the data over the new version of the software. It just works as if you didn't even have iLife 08 in the first place.
To anyone who has bought iLife 11, how did you upgrade from 09? I cannot seem to find any documentation regarding this procedure on Apple's support site.
Do you first have to uninstall 09 and then install 11 or can you do an in place upgrade? By this I mean, can you simply install iLife 11 over top of iLife 09?
It's been one year now that I am saving money for a MacBook. Yesterday was my birthday and I finally got enough money to buy myself a brand new Aluminum MacBook 2.4 Ghz (stock configuration) for school/home.I am REALLY excited. I just can't wait to order it online with the student discount !!!But before buying, I was just wondering : when will iLife '09 be preinstalled on the Aluminum MacBooks when you buy it online ? Is it the day they release iLife '09 a.k.a. at the end of January ? I know that you can buy iLife '09 for about 10 bucks after buying a new Mac right now, but I think I can wait until it is preinstalled on new Macs, so I wanted to know if any of you knew when it's gonna happen.

I now have an huge photo library, lots more websites and am worried that upgrading with all my photos etc on my mac might kill or lose my data. Has anyone had any problems upgrading in this fashion or should I be ok to just jump in? I cannot afford to lose my websites and photos right now!
View 23 Replies View Relatedyes.. yes i'm fully upgraded to 2.1.7 and have rebooted, reinstalled, and set default settings in iPhoto '09.
all my MRoogling and Googling have led to forums that never found an answer.
i also tried switching to 1.1.3 (i like tiger's front row better) and had massive problems with iPhoto '09... so i will be reinstalling unless there is a fix for that (which i just asked in the original thread)
My old man and I bought 2.4 ghz alu macbooks at the same time. We both have 2gb of ram and would both like to upgrade to 4.
Would it be possible to purchase one set of crucial sticks and then simply take the 2gb original ram from his unit and replace it into mine, utilizing both matched crucial sticks in his computer? Giving us both 4gb.
The MB's were both purchased on the same date and are identical in spec.
I am considering purhcasing iLife 09 to upgrade from iLife 08 that came pre-installed on my early-2008 MacBook Pro, as I like the new iPhoto features, (the iLife app I use most frequently out of the entire bundle), but I was wondering if by doing so there is a chance I may lose any files.
For those that did the same 08 to 09 upgrade, did you lose an individual photos from your library, albums altogether, events, slideshows, etc.?
For those that didn't lose them directly in iLife/iPhoto, what about on the HDD itself, and vice versa?
So i have iLife '08 installed and i'm about to install iLife '09. Do i need to uninstall iLife '08 first to install iLife '09?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a spotlight launch of imovie and i clicked on it, and imovie 08 is still in my system. Would it be safe to delete the imovie 08/ idvd 08/garage band 08 so it does not interfer with 09. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the recent ilife 09 (8.0.1) update appears in Software Update people of both ilife 09 and ilife 08 reported that it appeared for them. My question is, is it safe to apply this update for those who are on ilife 08?
I've just checked my Software Update and found the ilife 09 update, and I don't have ilife 09, I only have ilife 08.
My family bought a mid-2010 iMac 21.5". Being our 1st Mac, we're still learning it. My son has "toyed" with Garage band a few times. My wife wants to learn iPhoto but hasn't found the spare time. But will soon - once our disabled kid goes back to school. Have't tried iMove yet. Don't think we will...ith above in mind, is the upgrade to iLife 11 (for upgrades to iMovie, iPhoto and Garageband) worth it? Is the updates in iPhoto and Garageband with the $50 cost? Or, is using current version (that came with my iMac) "good enough" for our usage?

i dont wanna pay for ilife 09 twice. can someone help me out? and whats with those software coupons that came with iwork and i think they came with ilife as well...? can i use them to get ilife and iwork 09 for a cheaper price?
I recently sold my 2009 Macbook due to a cracked screen, but kept the 10.5.6 installer discs. (HDD was zeroed out and I did not install OS X)
My 2007 Mac Mini is currently running 10.5.7 and iLife 08, and I would like to perform an archive and install using the Macbook discs on my Mac Mini, in the hope that I would be upgraded to iLife 09. Would this work or would I need to perform and complete erase and install to get iLife 09? I do not want to lose any data (although I have backed up).
I'm still running 10.4.11 on my late 2007 BlackBook. If I do a clean install using just the cheap Snow Leopard upgrade disk will I have iPhoto etc. or do I need to buy iLife? Also, could you please recommend an idiot-proof, step-by-step guide to formatting the HD and installing Snow Leopard from scratch with the upgrade disk?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI looked at Apple's website and searched some threads here and still don't know for sure. Want to get my dad iLife '09 so he can take advantage of iPhoto's "faces and places". I bought iLife '09 last year for $79; but does the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade have it as well? He is running Leopard now.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthe title vaguely suggests I've recently made the upgrade from OsX Leopard to the Snow Leopard. In doing that, I did a clean install (as in I made a backup, and then wiped my HDD and then installed Snow Leopard) and Now, foolishly realised that iLife isn't a "App" but rather a $80 software purchase. So, I tried to copy + paste (yes yes, I'm a noob - but this is how I understood it would work) iPhoto (as its the App I wish to use, so I can view my iPhone photos on my Mac) and it's now mentioning I can't open this program as I don't have iLife 09'.
So, short of repurchasing the software package. Is there any method for me to have the functionality of iLife again? I've tried to locate individual updates from the Apple support site, but the version I tried, 8.1.2 I believe. Was not needed, again due to iLife 09' not being installed. And I don't wish to sit through downloading numerous updates in the hope I may find the correct one.
I want to upgrade to ilife iphoto but the default purchase is to osx lion. Do I need to purchase OS X lion before I can purchase ilife iphoto?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I already placed my order for my new iMAC. I have a MacBook (2006) with iLife 08.
My question is: When I get to transfer my MacBook info into my new iMAC, will i encounter any problems with my iLife files being that I have iLife 08, and the new iMac's come with iLife 09? The Time Machine transfer won't bring the new iMac software back to 08 will it?
Just want to be sure before I set this up.
So I bought Leopard family-pack and installed on 4 Macs (and de-installed one). All installs were "clean installs". And all yielded Leopard WITHOUT iLife products (iPhoto, iTunes, etc.).
Now people tell me that they also did "clean installs" and iLife was present afterwards.
The only difference I can judge is that I used a family pack whilst the others used a "single licence" pack.
Can anyone provide some light into this?
I wiped my computer, and then I installed Snow Leopard. When I installed Snow Leopard, no iLife programs were on it anymore. (Garageband, etc)
I have Snow Leopard as an upgrade from leopard (which came with my laptop.) It's a 15" Macbook Pro.
so, is iLife included on the original discs that came with the computer? (Leopard) or does it only come pre-installed and after/if i wipe it, gone forever?
I just want to know, if i used my Leopard disc, would I be able to get it back?
Was it only not there because I installed directly from my Snow Leopard disc?
