View 1 RepliesI am considering purhcasing iLife 09 to upgrade from iLife 08 that came pre-installed on my early-2008 MacBook Pro, as I like the new iPhoto features, (the iLife app I use most frequently out of the entire bundle), but I was wondering if by doing so there is a chance I may lose any files.
For those that did the same 08 to 09 upgrade, did you lose an individual photos from your library, albums altogether, events, slideshows, etc.?
For those that didn't lose them directly in iLife/iPhoto, what about on the HDD itself, and vice versa?
long time reader, first time poster. I know this topic has been beaten to death - but I've read all the post and have not found an answer for my question.
If you have iLife 08 installed and just installed a new copy of iLife 09 - does the following happen?
1. iLife 08 gets removed.
2. All Data from iPhoto 08, iMovie 08, iDVD etc, gets transferred to the new application.
3. No Importing is required to move any of the data over the new version of the software. It just works as if you didn't even have iLife 08 in the first place.
To anyone who has bought iLife 11, how did you upgrade from 09? I cannot seem to find any documentation regarding this procedure on Apple's support site.
Do you first have to uninstall 09 and then install 11 or can you do an in place upgrade? By this I mean, can you simply install iLife 11 over top of iLife 09?
I did a spotlight launch of imovie and i clicked on it, and imovie 08 is still in my system. Would it be safe to delete the imovie 08/ idvd 08/garage band 08 so it does not interfer with 09. I just dont wanna loose any of my info, i just dont want both on the system, getting confused with them opening up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the recent ilife 09 (8.0.1) update appears in Software Update people of both ilife 09 and ilife 08 reported that it appeared for them. My question is, is it safe to apply this update for those who are on ilife 08?
I've just checked my Software Update and found the ilife 09 update, and I don't have ilife 09, I only have ilife 08.
So I already placed my order for my new iMAC. I have a MacBook (2006) with iLife 08.
My question is: When I get to transfer my MacBook info into my new iMAC, will i encounter any problems with my iLife files being that I have iLife 08, and the new iMac's come with iLife 09? The Time Machine transfer won't bring the new iMac software back to 08 will it?
Just want to be sure before I set this up.
I just got my update disc, but when I put it in, it just sits there cranking for a minute or so and then ejects the DVD. I made sure my software was updated first, and did a shut-down ... but it still just ejects it.
I zapped the PRAM ... and then it did hold on to the disc a lot longer, but it just cranks and cranks and then ejects. I did put in a music CD just to make sure it wasn't the CD driver, but the CD opened and played just fine. Any ideas on why iLife '11 won't install?
I am thinking about upgrading to iLife 09. If I buy the discs and install, do they overwrite iLife 08 or will I then be able to choose between the two groups of applications?

Any advice for me before I install ilife 11 (with iPhoto 11 in it)?
So far i have backed up all her pics (not her library) to an external NTFS HD (i had to use some software to make that happen BTW but thats another headache)
How would i go about backing up her 09 iPhoto library which i assume includes albums she has made, printed photo book projects she made, edited pictures etc.... ?
and onto the real question - is iPhoto 11 (iLife 11) not worth the purchase price? can i put the 50 bucks to better APPLE use?
What's the deal w/ that?
It was advertised as coming with iLife '09, but the box said "with iLife '08
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I bought Leopard family-pack and installed on 4 Macs (and de-installed one). All installs were "clean installs". And all yielded Leopard WITHOUT iLife products (iPhoto, iTunes, etc.).
Now people tell me that they also did "clean installs" and iLife was present afterwards.
The only difference I can judge is that I used a family pack whilst the others used a "single licence" pack.
Can anyone provide some light into this?
This is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - fail
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to re-install Mac OS X version 10.5.8 with the erase and install clean option. Now I do not have iLife on my macbook, the only CD's I have are Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and 2. I understand with the original macbook I had license to use this but now I am just missing the CD.

I recently wiped my iMac's hard drive clean and then re-installed OS X Snow Leopard via the DVD. Now OS X is running but my iLife applications aren't there (iPhoto, iMovie, etc.) and I can't figure out how to get them back!

My 2007 Mac Mini is currently running 10.5.7 and iLife 08, and I would like to perform an archive and install using the Macbook discs on my Mac Mini, in the hope that I would be upgraded to iLife 09. Would this work or would I need to perform and complete erase and install to get iLife 09? I do not want to lose any data (although I have backed up).
Once SL is installed, where do I find my iLife 09 cd?
I have a 09 Mini. There are only two discs in the box right?
My current MBP I bought new earlier in the year so has both software disks etc. Now, I bought an IMac second hand this week and I find the install disks are missing. I have bought a new copy of snow leopard but I am wondering if theres a way of installing just the iLife apps from the MBP disks onto my IMac?

My mother bought a MacBook with Leopard and iLife '09 recently. Can I install Leopard and iLife '09 from the discs that came with that on my iMac?
I had assumed not, but the guy at the store said I can.
16Gb ST Lab SSD drive - I was wondering if anyone knew if it was a benefit to install the OS / ilife 09 / iWork in here, would I see an improvement in terms of performance in comparison to my 320Gb 5400 (which I will soon be upgrading to a scorpioblack 500Gb)
Install a memorycard reader in here as at the moment I am transferring my digital pictures either via usb from camera or via an adaptor.
Ideally I would like to go with option one, but only if that actually improves the performance of my system.
I've just reformatted my macbook pro. After installing the install disk, I was not able to install the application disk.
This in turn course me to be unable to have ilife in my notebook There's an unindentified error and no other reasons are given.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI performed a fresh install of OSX with my Snow Leopard upgrade disc, and now I'm missing iLife. I don't have a copy of the OSX version that came with my Macbook Pro. Is there a way for me to retreive iLife without having to shell out more cash? I would think I could request a copy of my original OS from Apple, as I've done in the past with other companies.

The USB "Software Reinstall Drive" that came with my MacBook Air, has iLife on it. The "Software Reinstall Drive" is recognised by my iMac and I can open it. However, when I try to run the iLife installer it says that it cannot install on this computer. Does anyone have any ideas or do you think that it is irrevocably fixed to the MacBook Air?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis machine has been running fine. I installed ilife8 - had eyeTV running. It was slow, hanging, unhappy so I rebooted. It took a long time but eventually restarted - got the chime and after a few seconds the white screen/grey apple. No spinning wheel - no nothing. After a few minutes the CPU fans slowly go to full scream. Have to hold power switch to shut down. Won't go into single user mode, won't boot CD (can't even get the CD out of the machine, but the dvd never spins up). I've pulled all the memory except the original apple mem. I've tried my Kinston mem. There is nothing else in the machine that isn't pure apple.

My hard drive died and was replaced a week or so a go. The technician in the iSpot store (the substitute for Apple Stores in Warsaw, Poland) installed Snow Leapord and apparently did not install iLife. After I restored using Migration Assistant from my Time Machine, the iLife programs and Mail would not load.
I took it back and the tech reinstalled reinstalled OS 10.6 and iLife'09. I restored again from Time Machine the the iLife programs then would load and work fine, but Mail is still bombing. Here is what it says in relevant part in the window that appears after clicking on Mail in the dock.
I have tried to reinstall iLife'09 and still get this message.
Does anyone have suggestions for what to do? How do I get it to find the "suitable image"?
