I have been googling around but I can't find anything sufficient. I would like a simple way to enable a keyboard shortcut to toggle bluetooth on and off; one feature I enjoy having turned on is the option under Universal Access to disable the trackpad if an external mouse is connected. This is great when I'm at my desk, but if I move my MacBook Pro to another room it doesn't necessarily disconnect the bluetooth mouse and thus I have to go back to my desk to shut the mouse off in order to get my trackpad back again.
So a quick simple tool, like maybe fn+B or cmd+B or whatever, would be awesome.
I tried recording an Automator macro but it can't discern whether bluetooth is on already or not, plus there was a huge lag time of five seconds each time I triggered it (on top of it stealing window focus).

I've shied away from wireless keyboards in the past because I do alot of online baking and investment activities from my computer. I also love a clean workspace and a wireless keyboard could remove yet another wire from my desk. Do you consider wireless and/or bluetooth keyboards safe?

I've just got a new phone and im having trouble syncing it to my macbook. Normally it's just a case of getting the plugin and ar she blows but according to the internet the new isync has disabled most of the old plugins. I know I can get them with nova media but I don't really want to spend more money on it... Does anyone know of a method to make plugins work again or know of anywhere I could get one? Actually, while were on the subject, does anyone have a clue why apple updated isync, removed half the phones and disabled loads of plugins for seemingly no reason??? just me and my mad rants

The only problem I'm having so far is converting videos for my Nokia N810 (Internet Tablet). I used handbrake to rip my personal dvd's and tried using Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert the AVI files for viewing on my N810. When the final file is transfer, all I can see on my tablet is a blank screen, no audio, the file doesn't seem to play at all. Does anyone have the correct handbrake settings for my issue?

I promise, I know how crazy this sounds. And no, I don't think I'm a candidate for one of those hoarders TV shows. I absolutely cannot locate my Apple bluetooth keyboard. My iMac can locate it. And apparently be connected to it. But it's a mystery to me where in my home it is. Some time ago, I decided I wanted my numeric keys back and switched to a wired keyboard. And then I put the BT keyboard... somewhere. Any ideas on how to locate it easily? Can I make it beep? Can I triangulate its location? Anything? What is its range? Could it be as far away as my garage? As close as my attic?

My desk is very colour co-ordinated. I have a black and white contrast thing going on (black Macbook, black display, white cables, white 360). I need an external keyboard and mouse. First I looked to Apple, but the new Bluetooth keyboard is Aluminum to match the new iMacs, which would look rubbish. Does anyone know of a white Bluetooth keyboard? Preferably small-ish.

I've been away for a while, and just started up my MacPro to create a DVD for my customer, and the keyboard (bluetooth) is not responsive. So, I can't log in! I don't have a USB keyboard laying around. So I can't get into the system. Does anyone know a way to get the MacPro to open the disk bay and boot off the DVD? I should then be able to tie the keyboard back to the system?

I have an Apple bluetooth keyboard for my macbook pro. I got it a while ago and remember that a friend of mine had used it with his macbook once just to try it out. I haven't used the keyboard for some months and decided to start using it again recently, however, every time I turn it on, it is recognized as "John Smith's keyboard" rather than my name. I'm rather annoyed since it's always been my keyboard! I'm browsing around and can't seem to figure out how to change the name of the keyboard.

Sometimes, my wireless mouse loses all connectivity and its wiped out from the iMac's paired devices.
So I need to re-pair it but I can't do it easily when my mouse is not working.
So how do I get to the bluetooth menu and then click on "Set up New Device" all with the keyboard?
I've learned to move the mouse arrow with my keypad but how do I access the menu and button directly with keyboard shortcuts?

We have a 20" monitor that my wife mainly uses, but I like to use it sometimes too. We have just been using the built in keyboard with the external display.
We want to buy the bluetooth Apple keyboard, but we are wondering if it's possible to pair 1 keyboard to 2 Macs. Is it as simple as turning bluetooth off on the Mac that's not using the bluetooth keyboard at the time? Or would we have to set up and go through the process of pairing them every time it needs to be connected to the other Mac?

My Apple keyboard has worked fine. Last night I lost my connection for the mouse and the keyboard(not unusual for the mouse). Had to set up both again. Mouse connected easily, keyboard took forever. Bluetooth would recognize it, it was discoverable(blinking green light), batteries strong, but could not make the connection. I did this over and over, finally got it. Tonight, same thing. Lost the mouse and the keyboard. Set them up again and same thing, mouse easy and keyboard still isn';t connected.

My MacBook Pro's keyboard just went dead after I dropped it () and now I can't log into the machine to try and salvage it. I for some reason can't get the MacBook Pro to recognize the Apple Wireless Keyboard I have. I had it paired with an iMac but I've unpaired it since and my MacBook Pro won't find it so I can use it at the login screen. I have bluetooth turned off in my account but hopefully that doesn't carry over into the login screen. Any ideas other than buying a wired USB keyboard just to log in so I can turn on bluetooth? It's an early 2006 2 GHz Core Duo MacBook Pro for what it's worth.

I have a 3rd party bluetooth keyboard that works fine on m iphone, When I try to connect it to my Mac, the keyboard is discoverable as "Bluetooth Keyboard" where it always fails at the pairing process. "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OSX and bluetoot software could be invalid or unsupported." The bluetooth on my Mac connects fine to my trackpad. Is there any reason why this shouldnt work on my Mac and is there any way to get it working?

I've been looking into buying an Apple Bluetooth Wireless keyboard (MB167LL/A) for use with my new Macbook. I'm going to be using an external monitor and mouse for more of a desktop setup while I'm at home.
But I wanted to know if the Bluetooth keyboard will still be compatible with my computer when I am running Windows Vista on my mac? I realize that not all of the buttons will be perfect (aka the F keys), much as I'm used to when using my laptop keyboard, but will it work fine for normal tasks and connect correctly?

Since I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4, my wireless Apple keyboard is losing it's connection when the computer goes to sleep. I never had that issue before the upgrade. It will also on occasion lose it's connection while I'm actively using it. Is this a known issue that will eventually be addressed by Apple, or is there something else going on?

I have had my Mac Pro for a few years now, and I rewired the bluetooth module when I first got it. I then had Airport installed about 3 months ago, and had to rewire it again because the "geniuses" at Apple didn't know the wires were labeled incorrectly. I just moved my computer downstairs and my Apple Bluetooth keyboard is not working correctly. It lags, repeats letters, etc. Upstairs on one desk, it worked fine. Down here, on a different desk, It's acting up. My keyboard is on the left middle of the desk, and the computer is on the floor on the right side. Total distance is less than three feet, with a file drawer inbetween. It works if I put it in my lap, but not on the desk. I just opened it up to check the wires again, and they are tight, and right.

I am having a very 'strange' variant of the bluetooth keyboard and mouse disconnects.
I use the new thin Apple wireless keyboard and wireless mighty mouse. I have the lates Mac Mini 2Ghz, 4 GB RAM, Leopard 10.5.6
While I use the computer it can occur that the mouse and keyboard suddenly stop responding. The battery charge is full on both of them and the Keyboard or Mouse Disconnected Dialoge does not appear.
Turning the keyboard or mouse off and on again does not fix this. However, if I hit the power-switch on the Mac Mini to bring it into sleep mode, I can then hit a key on the bluetooth keyboard to wake it again, and all is fine.
What could be the problem?
Btw: I have never had this problem with my Macbook Pro 2nd Gen (2.33 Ghz C2D), Leopard 10.5.6.

I'm currently considering getting an Apple keyboard, but haven't been able to decide yet whether to take the USB one or the bluetooth one.
I went to a local Apple retailer today and was told that the bluetooth one wouldn't work in Windows. Now, I mostly use OS X, but I do some occasional gaming too, and would need the keyboard to function properly in Windows too. Btw, I have Win XP Pro SP3.
Will a bluetooth keyboard work then?
