I'm trying to uninstall synergy but it's being quite annoying. I've removed it from the applications menu, deleted all the files, yet cannot for the life of me 1) delete it from my trash and 2) keep itunes from popping up artist names/song title when I'm surfing the web, etc.

I followed instructions here: [URL] I followed all the steps and everything was fine until I tried to empty the trash. All items emptied out except the iTunes application itself. I get an error message that says: "The operation cannot be completed because 'pgs' is in use." What the heck is 'pgs'? I found pgs folders in the System Folder/Mac Help. I'd love to trash them, but don't know that I should.

I tried to install Aperture, after I have done a complete uninstall, but the install process does not go any further than hitting the ok button after entering Name/Company/Serial. The rainbow colored circle remains on forever, so I have to force quit every time.
I wonder, if I deleted any important install files form OSX accidently?
What I did was uninstalling Aperture: I searched for 'Aperture' in the Finder window, and deleted all files which showed up!
When I try to remove the msn messenger from trash it gives me an error saying the MSN.Messenger.icns is in use. When I restore and try to open it, I can't because it says the file is corrupt.

How do you delete individual items from Trash without emptying entire Trash? If I highlight one item in Trash, the only option is the Empty button. I'm afraid it will empty the whole thing. I don't want to do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was trying to free up some space on my early 2009 mac mini, and i downloaded the Easy Duplicate Finder 3rd party thingy... i never ran the setup.dmg file and i tried to throw it away, but i can't empty it out of my trash because it says its in use (which worries me!)
I do have ext. backup using Time Machine... is that my solution? i just set that up about a week ago, but I'm such a computer dummie... I've never used it before....

I purchased a OWC external hard drive case and I've been going through my old hard drives which originally were used in my Windows XP computer. The drives were contaminated with Windows viruses and so I installed the drives one by one in the OWC case and proceeded to delete files and programs which I didn't need in each drive while in OS X and keeping the files I wanted to save in each respective drive. Now what I'm faced with is a Trash bin filled with Windows XP software (including Windows XP itself) which I cannot delete because OS X says I don't have permission to delete those files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIm really diggin Iwork Pages and have been using it for a few months. However, somehow when working on a multipage document, I attached 2 of the pages together and cannot get them to separate.
The best way to explain it is; if you click on the VIEW / Page Thumbnails your pages will appear down the left column. Normally you can move them around, delete, copy whatever. Somehow 2 of mine only move together and they cannot be separated, moved or deleted without both going.
I upgraded to the MobileMe BETA. Not sure if this is a "beta" problem or something that would have happened even I were not on the BETA when I went to delete subscribe calendars. I have been subscribed to calendars for some time. Then I went to delete some calendars I've subscribed to (my wife's). For some reason I am unable to delete the calendars I'm subscribed to. They do temporarily act as if they are deleted, but when I start up ical again, they reappear.
It seems that it's not truly removing them from the CALDAV server (or wherever they may be saved on MobileMe). I've attempted to delete them, then delete Plist files, etc. etc. I have deleted all of my calendars and reset them up, hoping this would trigger something...no hope. Any ideas? Any way to access the server that seems to be bringing these back each time I restart? The only reason I think they are on a "server" is because I deleted all of my calendars and they did delete, then added my MobileMe account back into iCal and they reappeared again.
itunes has decided to go all wierd on me and started playing some of my songs but not playing others. When i try to play one that will not play i get the apple logo on the top of the screen where the amount of time your into the song is normally shown and no matter how many times i press play nothing happens.
Also the songs that won't play all are coming from the same folder and when i delete them and try to add them to the library nothing happens and they aren't added. When i try to play the songs from that folder using a program other than itunes the songs play fine.
I'm trying to find a solution to an issue a family member it having with Yahoo Messenger and an iMac. The computer is an early release aluminum iMac, running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Yahoo Messenger is the most current version installed. A transparent image of the Messenger icon is on the dock and seems to be stuck between the dock's line near the trash can. It won't delete, even deleted the normal version of Messenger, shut down the computer and restarted it. The image was still on the dock. Are there Messenger files in other folders, that somehow didn't get deleted when the application was deleted, causing this?

I was trying to delete one file , so i dragged to trash, then all of a sudden I realize my entire Drobo (3TB Huge) was highlighted and deleting to my trash! So now I have a trash folder full all my Drobo's content and I can't figure out how to get it all back to "put back"! I'm afraid that I am going to inadvertently empty trash and lose my entire Drobo's contents! I need to figure out how to undo or put back ... come on Apple. Why'd you make this so difficult?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was cleaning up my jumpdrive and accidently put a locked safegaurd file in the trash so when I went to empty the trash it emptied everything but that. Then I went in and moved a copy of the safegaurd file from the trash to the desktop then to the jumpdrive. Now the file is safely back on my jumpdrive, but I have useless files in my trash that I can't delete. How do I do it??

I have this file that has appeared in my trash bin, this file stays there when I empty the trash. The icon shows full. When I try to "get info" on the file, nothing happens. I drag it out onto the desktop, and it disappears.
