Applications :: Unable To Delete ICal Events / Calendars Reappear After 5 Seconds
Sep 26, 2009
I've tried to delete events and calendars and they just reappear 5 seconds later. This is so strange it's driving me crazy. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? TIA
I have a client's machine that keeps repopulating events to iCal even after they've been deleted. These are calendars that are stored locally. There are no accounts set up to sync with this machine and there haven't been any since the machine was purchased. Steps I have tried: Repairing disk permissions/deleting cacheResetting sync history (I know that's kind of dumb since it's not synching with anything but I'll try anything once. Deleting the calendars and reimporting them
Additional Info: She was initially on a Tiger machine. We exported the calendars from that machine and imported them into another machine running snow leaopard. A few days later we exported from that machine onto her new machine running lion. Not sure if the file could have gotten corrupted during that process.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
What's the deal? I have the preferences set to delete events 2 days after they pass, yet it's not doing it. Even if I click the "hide" options, it won't even hide them.
I use iCal together with MobileMe and I have noticed that none of my subscribed calendars sync with MobileMe/iPhone. I installed Delicious Library a couple of weeks ago (which places a subscribed calendar in iCal) and that syncs but not my others, such as "Birthdays" (through AddressBook) or my RememberTheMilk ones
I upgraded to the MobileMe BETA. Not sure if this is a "beta" problem or something that would have happened even I were not on the BETA when I went to delete subscribe calendars. I have been subscribed to calendars for some time. Then I went to delete some calendars I've subscribed to (my wife's). For some reason I am unable to delete the calendars I'm subscribed to. They do temporarily act as if they are deleted, but when I start up ical again, they reappear.
It seems that it's not truly removing them from the CALDAV server (or wherever they may be saved on MobileMe). I've attempted to delete them, then delete Plist files, etc. etc. I have deleted all of my calendars and reset them up, hoping this would trigger something...no hope. Any ideas? Any way to access the server that seems to be bringing these back each time I restart? The only reason I think they are on a "server" is because I deleted all of my calendars and they did delete, then added my MobileMe account back into iCal and they reappeared again.
I just used the ical calibration tool to sync ical up with my google calendar and it works like a charm. I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.
Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I am running OS 10.4.8 and use mysnc to sync calendars and address book between my notebook and G5 desktop. Everything was working fine, but now my calendars keep disappearing, even though the data is still there (when I open iCal, i see the calendars, and then they disappear after a few moments and any alarm that I set will pop up the way it was supposed to).
I had to reinstall the OS but have a complete copy of my old hard drive. I want to get my old iCal calendars back. I have read on sites that they are stored in HD/user/library/application support/ical but this folder does not seem to exist in snow leopard...
What are my options for sharing my calendars with friends? Do I need a mobileme account? We have one computer with two e-mail addresses and two iphones. Do we need the family plan?
I know that you can add Google Calendar to your iCal this way. Is there a better way? I just don't like how it is a separate calendar instead of syncing with the calendars I already have in iCal, I guess I'm looking for something that will sync my existing calendars on iCal with Google Cal similar to what Mobile Me does. Any suggestions or should I just try tailoring the above method to what I want it to do?
I'm trying to set up some automated reporting from my computer to my email when I'm out of the office. I've got the applescript set up to run when I send an email, but I'm trying to make it automated every hour or 30 minutes or something. Someone recommended iCal- I've got it able to run the script on each event, but I can't figure out how to make an event recur hourly.
I want to share a calendar or two with another person but the person does not have Mobile Me so are there other ways to share my calendar? Note, the person does use google calendar, is there a way via google?
I bought a new MacBook Pro Wednesday and the items on the right side of the menu bar go away and then come back every so often. This just started and I don't like it. The clock and wifi and all the other things are gone.
How do I get these back? Thanks Oh this is running Leopard, it didn't come with Snow Leopard.
I've just switched to mac and have a beginner's question: Although I selected a strong red color for my work calendar, the events are only shown in a transparent red. This actually applies to all calendars. Is there a possibility to see the full colors i.o non-transparent?
I cannot find how to edit events in iCal. I should be able to "double click it" and then click Edit. However, no "edit" button appears. Please note: this is a repeating event - is it not possible to edit them? This is needed for a monthly meeting that occurs at different places, so each individual instance should be editable with particulars for that event. Also, these events were converted from Outlook on Windows.
I have about 3 to 5 events, things I need to do, etc., on each day in iCal. My problem is that I have no way to make them "Complete". I want to be able to put a strike-threw or something showing that I have done it. Currently, there is no way to see on the cal if I did something or not. Is someone going to need to make a add-on for iCal or something?
Is it me or did you never see a "dot" in the mini month view within Ical when you had an event on a day? I have it on the iphone on month view but I could have sword that I had this on my Mac?
I belong to a club and shortly they are moving to Google Calendar as a way of publishing their events on-line. From what I have read else where, it is possible for them to publish their events publicly, so that they are searchable and anyone can add them to their own Google calendar.
Would it then be possible for me to view their public Google calendar in iCal? If not, could I achieve the same out come by setting up my own intermediate Google Calendar, which took the clubs feed, and then use iCal to view that? I don't wish to share information back, just add their info to my own calendar automatically. So that if an event is added/deleted or changed, my calendar is automatically updated when I view it.
I can't seem to find any good info on what kind of Mac software is out there to create calendars. What I'm specifically looking for is the ability to enter events that fit inside the entire square. Something like this:
Leadership Conference 11:00am - 2:00pm Hyatt Hotel Chicago, IL
Basically, each of those lines would be centered within the date box. The programs I've tried always do something like this: "Leadership Conf...." and then that's it. I've been creating these damn calendars by hand in Excel and am looking for a good software package that can make my life easier. Have seen spotty reviews of Print Shop and other big programs.
I have just updated all of my friends birthdays in iCal. I would like to set it up so that it alerts me 7 days before the date for every birthday. I don't really fancy doing this 60 times, is there anyway to do all of them at once?
I try not to have iCal running because I've got the Dateline app that stays on my desktop. Mousing over that will give me appts and such as I need to have them.
I've found, that opening iCal and messing with the input screen for a new event is kind of cumbersome, and I'm wondering if folks have found a good way to create new iCal events w minimal interaction with iCal itself.
Today 2.5 offers this as a feature, but it's $25. Macworld also had a tip, but running that Automator action opens up iCal in the background.
Okay, I've subscribed to a couple of calendars in iCal, including birthdays from Address Book, but I'm completely stumped. If I want to receive an alert when one of these items is coming up, then what do I do?
I don't want to rely on alerts being added at to the subscription itself, I want to be able to customise on my end when I get an alert for an entry, and when or what that alert will be. Is this possible? I don't see any options for it. If not, anyone know of any good alternative calendar applications that are like iCal?
If I have an event, starting on Friday, going on Saturday and and finishing Sunday, is it not possible to get this to show in the month view? I know it shows up in the weekly view, but it would be more helpful for me to have it up show up like this so I can get an overview of the month's forthcoming events. Or if it, are there any mods/addons etc that can enable this?
On my Mac and in iCloud, I can only add Reminders to two Calendar types, Home and Sarah. I'd like to add other reminders for calendars labeled Work, for example. However, I can only choose to reclassify Reminders in the other Calendar types that have Reminders- so only Home and Sarah. Do I have to do something in iCloud for me to gain this ability?
I run 3 Macs (and an iPad and an iPhone). The Macs are 2 new (within last year) desktop iMacs and I have a Macbook Air. I synchronize calendars, contacts etc through iCloud and one calendar from my Exchange Server at work. All has worked great for months. Suddenly my desktop iMac at work won't load ANY calendars. Zero. Most of the options in the menus are shaded out too. The other two computers (and the two mobile devices) are all loading, synchronized and working fine.
To resolve this I have tried the following on the offending iMac:
-exit ICal, remove "com.apple.iCal.plist" and restarted -reloading the iCloud account from scratch on the offending computer -run the Disk utility (no issues)
Still nothing.
I have not loaded any updates or software between when it was working fine last week and when it decided to stop loading calendars sometime over the weekend.
Do I have to wipe the entire disk clean and reload everything?
