When you start typing a web address in the address bar it pulls from not only your history and bookmarks of websites, but now their titles.So now when I start to type "appl..." This is really useful but it ALSO autocompletes from previous email addresses that I have entered (including ones that are no longer active).
YouTube not working properly with Safari. Flash Player and Safari are both up to date. When launching a video on YT the video loads slowly and is very jerky. Evertything works fine with Firefox.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i had not used my laptop in about a week because of an issue with safari..When i get to https sites (totally random) have a box to enter something like a cc number or address as i start to type safari gives me the busy wheel for infinity...let it sit for hours one day, never stopped. had to force quit. relaunched, same thing on the same box. cleared history and cache, rebooted and tried again.happened on multiple websites on random boxes where i needed to enter some info, was always on a https site though.
Second issue, went to use my computer again, launched mail. none of my accounts are syncing. iCloud, exchange, gmail..all show most up to date from the last time i used it over a week ago. let it sit for hours, still no sync. got it to update by taking all accounts offline then back online. went to send a test message. hit the send button and mail locked up completely!!

Does anyone have a workaround to get FF 3.5.3 to autocomplete addresses of a single word (i.e., "google" goes to "[URL]" automatically)�I use OpenDNS and it always goes to some OpenDNS page. (Safari works perfectly btw.)
OpenDNS people seem to say it's an FF issue so it's not their problem.
Every time I click on a PDF in Safari, I get error window. How do I just reset it to use whatever the default would be (Preview presumably)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook has been very buggy lately. (MacBook is less than a year old bought in feb). First whenever I first start up Safari it generally restarts. It says it has a kernel error or something along those lines. This will happen maybe 10 times. This happened for the older version of Safari and the new updated version (4.0.1)
I have also had issues with iworks 09, it would not even start. When it was double clicked it would open and immediately close. I tried to remove the program and reinstall but the same problem occurs. I have also had issues with the OS X panicking and and requiring you to restart the computer. This happens maybe once a week. I am most worried about the Safari restart and the panicking.
I went to iChat with my girlfriend tonight, and for some strange reason she can see me on her computer but I can't see her. All I can see in the video box is the moving image of myself. Audio is also functioning perfectly. Is there anything I can troubleshoot to fix this problem? It's becoming a bit annoying.

As you can see the page is displaying in half the window. Other users are having no problem in safari, just me. When I reset Safari the problem seems to go away, only to come back in a couple hours. This problem has only come about in the last couple days, anyone ever have this problem and know how to fix it?
i bought a 15 inch mbp 8 months ago and will never look back. however, recently my safari browser has stopped working properly. when i try to load pages they will stop part way or not load at all. i will have to reload the page several times usually, just to see one page. i downloaded firefox to see if this would work better but it has the same issues. now i am at a standstill going back and fourth between the two browsers trying to check my email and face book once a day, which is annoying because of how long this takes, especially when it doesn't work at all. i think my computer may have a virus but i don't know a whole lot about computers

With other routers it is EXTREMELY easy but it seems like Apple went out of its way to make the Airport routers incredibly harder to basic things with your router. I mean, we need a damn program just to configure the bugger!ANYHOW, I cant get the ports to forward properly. So this is what I have done so far, I have reserved an IP address, 10.0.1.100, on my computer via MAC address. I goto the Port forwarding and I put 6112 (port I want forwarded) in all fields and put private IP the IP addy I reserved for my computer.

For example if I type www.e it will come up with every page I've visited beginning with E. Obviously I can clear my history, but how do I stop it displaying sites from my bookmarks? I use my Mac around a lot of people and don't want everyone seeing every other site I've visited.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
Lately, whenever i put let's say "macrumors" in the address bar of Safari without putting the www or the .com it will not resolve to the actual website. This happens with any URL i put without the www or .com
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for the missing link in Safari - the one thing that I need to stop using Firefox. I'd like to duplicate the functionality of the Awesome Bar in Firefox, which searches browsing history when a phrase is typed into the address bar. For example, if I want to listen to a youtube song, I could just type "Radiohead Paranoid Android" into the address bar, and assuming I had listened to it before, the link would pop up. Very handy. Unfortunately, in Safari, you have to type in "youtu..." and hope that you've listened to the song enough for it to appear in your few history links. Not very intuitive.
Are there any plugins to simulate this functionality? I tried Glims, and while it's completely awesome, it unfortunately doesn't help me here. I also tried the Quicksilver Safari Plugin, and while it technically does the job, it's just a tad clunky, and also has the annoying habit of opening a new browser window.

I'm finding it slightly annoying that in Safari 5.0, whenever I hit CMD+T to open a new tab, my cursor automatically starts in the google search box on the web page, and not in the address bar. Not only that, but I can't simply hit SHIFT-TAB to go backwards to the address bar.
I'm a designer, so I'm constantly using shortcuts, not only in my design programs, but also in Safari, iTunes, etc. It would be nice to see a fix for this, so I can keep my hands on the keyboard, and off of my mouse.
It keeps autofilling my work info and I want it to use my home info. I don't want to delete anything, but is there anyway to set a default or a level of priority?

Then I tried to customize the toolbar but when I click on "Customize Toolbar", nothing happens (same with when I try it from the menu bar). Now I've been clicking around a bit and I accidentally removed the address bar and now I have to navigate via Wikipedia: Google Search URL. Does anybody know how to customize the toolbar? I have re-downloaded safari already
View 4 Replies View RelatedA co-worker (who isn't English speaking) would like to change Safari so that when he enters a site name into the address bar (for example "ford") that Safari doesn't automatically add ".com" to the address. Instead he wants the browser to use ".ch" (Switzerland) as the default autocomplete in the address line. Anyone know how we can change that (maybe in Terminal)..?

if i type mac on safari it will list all url's beginning with the word mac.
How do i get safari to behave like firefox? You can see the benefits of firefox as getting to a url you don't quite remember is easy.
