I am going to purchase Yamaha DTXpress electronic drum set and I'll want to connect it to my Mac with GarageBand. The sound module of the drum set has midi-in-out (big round ports). What cable to I need to make garageband see not a single audio-wave, but a track where each hit on the drums is actually a separate note?
I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?
I've been trying to record my guitar using a regular 1/4" instrument cable and a 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor into the line-in of my Blackbook. I go to System Preferences so the app uses the line-in and not the build-in mic. Under "details", it is set to record in stereo. It records fine and sounds good, but when I put on my headphones, the tracks I recorded only come out of one ear. The software tracks are fine (as are the tracks I've recorded via the built-in mic and a USB mic). Well, this really puts a hamper on the song. Is it just because regular Macbooks don't come with a very good sound card?
I have been looking all over the place on the internet, including youtube in how to use garageband to record my singing voice over karaoke instrumental tracks to do a final recording.
I have the mic and the interface. Any internet link i've missed? Any information out there? I really appreciate your reply.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
In Garageband, when I record acoustic guitar, the first 5 seconds are recorded at a good volume, but then Garageband automatically reduces the recording volume, making for a very inconsistent beginning.
I am using the default acoustic guitar track, with automatic level control turned OFF. This is on the newest MBP, with what i believe is the latest Garageband.
Is it possible to record live streaming video with sound on my laptop? Is Quicktime a program that can be used for this or is it just for viewing movies?
I'm trying to record my guitar directly into Garageband or Audacity using my mac, it's running Tiger 10.4.8. Here's my setup, my electric guitar is connected to my amp and my amp is connected to an external sound card through the line in port which is then connected to the mac via usb.
I have set everything up as per different peoples instructions and i can record in Garageband, the problem is that there is a massive amount of excess noise, it's a like a massive roar when you try to record.
If i turn the input volume down really low it's not so bad but then you can't hear the guitar properly, if i turn it up you can hear the guitar but the roar makes it unrecordable. What should i do?
I just got logic express 8 and i'm using it with axiom 25, i'm trying to figure out when making drum beats, is there away that i can see my drum kit sounds and use my mouse to punch in where i want the notes, cause i'm not too good at using the 25 and trying to hit cymbals and hit hats and the rest, if anyone could let me know,
I know we've all seen this title before, but I always find it interesting to see what Mac applications people love and couldn't live without. I had a simular thread going over at MacRumors and that came back with some great results (loads of apps I had not heard of before). I have recently posted my top 25 on my blog. Be sure to check it out to get started:No rules on price etc, just a list of great applications.
Bablegum, LiveStreaming? Other??? I am in Europe on a biz trip and would like opinions on which is best service (without subscription). Have macbook black and love it!
Does anyone know any apps out there that can stream live video and audio to the internet so that visitors to my website can see what my webcam is broadcasting?
Has anyone managed to get the Thinkorswim's CNBC Live TV feature to work with Snow Leopard?
When I try to launch the stream (from the Gadgets menu), Quicktime v10.0 (90.3.1) launches, a reflector:nnnnn windows comes up, and then nothing. At one point it asked me to install an update (I think to VLC, but I cannot remember this minute).
Is it possible that when you delete emails from mac mail to have them automatically deleted from your windows live account server as well? If you understand what I mean?
Every time I try to open a PDF file Live Type tries to open it. I have to save the file to the desktop and open it. Also, all pdf files have the Live type icon next to them.
I don't have a camcorder and I want to be able to sing using a recording software program. What program is best suited for this? I don't even want my face to be on there, I just want to sing for fun and then upload it on Youtube.
Would this be iMovie is there another app that is suited for this. I'm on iMovie right now but I don't even know how to hit record.
I am learning a new song on the piano and it is played, at the lowest, 3 octaves down from middle C. The problem is my keyboard only has 64 keys and only reaches to the second octave down.
I am using a MIDI connection and I want to be able to have GarageBand transpose the keyboard while I am playing. So, say I play the song up on middle C but it would sound like it was down 3 octaves.
I can't find a way to do this while recording. You can transpose after you record, that is not a problem, but it would nice to hear it the right way while I play it. Any suggestions?
I have searched all through GarageBand can't find a way. Might be another suggestion I send to apple as feedback soon.
I am having trouble with the sound of CDs recorded in iTunes. They sound kind of like they're in a tunnel. What are the best settings to have iTunes on when recording and also importing songs. Some songs have been purchased through iTunes while others were directly imported from CDs that I currently have. I just don't seem to be able to find a great way to record these.
Does any one know of software for the Mac that makes it easy to take a photo, add a custom graphic and print it out on a special photo printer. It needs to be quick and easy for an exhibition stand.
I'm using Safari 3.2.2 and it will not record any history. I have tried to fix it every possible way I could think off: 1. Checking if Private Browsing is on. [It wasn't] 2. Resetting Safari. [Still won't record] 3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling [No effect] Is it possibly because of a missing file?
