View 3 RepliesEVERY time i try to update my version of perian to the most recent 1.2.1 it locks up my preference pain and i have to do a force quit.
View 5 Replies View RelatedPerian just got an update. Now Snow Leopard compatible! [URL] Version 1.1.4
View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Perian so I could view FLV files with quicktime. When I save as, it will save them as a .mov file. When i upload the video to my iweb portfolio, I get this message ( only with the those changed from FLV to .mov) all other videos are fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI haven't read so much the blurb for Snow Leopard but will QuickTime X do without the need for Perian and Flip4Mac plug-ins? I understand QuickTime X has some increased compatibility, though I'm guess not to the extent that you can do without those plug-ins...?
View 24 Replies View RelatedJust got the new Perian 1.1.4 so that it's compatible with my new snow leopard quicktime 10. However, it doesn't seem to be able to play the same file formats as my older quicktime version. I used to be able to play mkv files with Quicktime 7 using perisan but with the new Quicktime it doesnt seem to be able to play it even though the new Perian release should play the same formats with the new QT.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTHe Perian is downloaded already..but still there's nothing happend.. the [URL] do not show anything...
So I decided to install Perian today on my SL 10.6.2. I ran it and it created an icon in the Pref Pane, but when I clicked on the icon and then hit the Install button, nothing happened. I tried it several times and even restarted my MBP, but still nothing. I then tried opening Console to see what happens when I hit the Install button in Perian, and I saw several msgs saying Permission Denied.
What the heck is this? I've already experienced some permissions issues lately when I tried to copy mp3s onto my USB key, so I ran the OnyX maintenance just yesterday - but to no avail. I still can't copy most of my mp3s onto USB. And I don't really see a reason why I should repair permissions once again today just because of Perian? I really don't get this Mac OS permissions crap. I am the only user on this computer and am therefore an Admin, so what is all the fuss about permissions?
I'm not sure which one (10.6.4 or iTunes) that caused the issue but now xvid encoded files will no longer play in Quicktime X.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've always wonder this, Does anyone know if the combo update has a security update as well?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received that. Bought my imac in february. I wonder what the update is about. How do I find out?

Attached is a picture of my iTunes. It says I have 12 apps ready to be updated but then when I click to get them it says there are none available. What does that mean? I definately know that there are updates ready.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed the iPhoto 8.0.2 update on my Powerbook G4 and, after 5 seconds of opening the application, it crashes/hangs. I have to force quit it in order to exit out of it. I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI do the Sp1 update and the april 14th update 12.1.7 I think it is, it stops running. It keeps asking to update then close cuz it says nothing to update and then there is nothing so I do it again same thing. Just doesn't open. And I googled and I know a lot of people have had this problem. I also deleted the 2 files that most ppl said should work but when I put in my serial key after I deleted it the "continue" button doesn't take it to next page. It keeps getting clicked but it doesn't respond.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running 10.4.11, and each time I run the software updater, go through all the stages...download, install, restart etc... I open the software updater again, and the update is there again waiting to be installed!
This update is that recent Safari 4 one. I've repaired permissions and tried again, but had the same result. Any ideas for a perplexed mac user?
Just being optimistic. When will they take this thing out of Beta?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just ran Software Update, and iTunes 8.2.0 showed up. I'm installing it now, will report back when it's going.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI tried to organize my Applications a little better, and created a sub called iLife '09. Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an older G4 1.25GHz that i still run Tiger on. if i go to leopard, will it slow down the computer? i remember switching from OS9 to 10- my computer was never the same again. granted, the difference between OS9 and OSX was pretty significant, but i just wanted to check here.

My upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.
1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................
In iStat Pro, what's the purpose of setting "S.M.A.R.T Update Interval" to something other than "off"? I understand that this may cause iStat to query SMART in my HD (MBP Early 2009) at the set time interval. But what does that give me? iStat doesn't show any new info anywhere after I set the update interval to 5 mins. At least, I haven't noticed anything new. Is it supposed to display the HD temperature somewhere? Is there something else I have to turn on? I'm using iStat Pro 4.9.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA mate has a late 2006 polycarbonate white plastic case Core2Duo 24" iMac. Did the 10.6.5 Combo update, now Flash doesn't work in Safari but it does work in Chrome and Firefox. He's uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, then Safari, been through the Adobe troubleshooting, repaired permissions etc. Still Flash videos won't work in Safari.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to update from 10.6.4 Snow Leopard to the 10.6.5 Security Update - either from built-in Software Update, the downloaded 10.6.5 Combo update, or the full 644MB OS X 10.6.5 Update. Using Disk Utility to Verify or Repair Disk Permissions I see the error - "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreS. As been modified and will not be repaired". Also my Mac Mini 2.0Ghz 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD is pretty much on 24/7 and I've rebooted several times after each attempt listed above and running Disk Utility before each reboot and before each attempt.
An aside to this, I'm unable to use the numeric keys above the keypad on my Apple Keyboard Pro [aluminum] for the past 20days. Yes I've checked System Preferences:
Keyboard: Restore Defaults, Full keyboard access = All Controls, Modifier keys = [only Apple Keyboard is selectable], and I've restored defaults, Expose Fkeys have been removed [tried and set back to no avail]. Lastly, I'm unable to use the powered USB ports on my Dell monitor which worked just a few days ago before my wife moved around the desk - doubtful she would've damaged anything [she knows I'm anal about the Mac - I work with PCs]. I'm unsure if all are related and I DO recall having to do the 10.6.4 Combo update from the original shipping Snow Leopard. Have I missed anything to test?

Jpegs and other media files that I could open on my MBA now give me error messages when I try to open them. I have Flip4Mac, VLC, and Perian installed, and I had no problems opening these files prior to the latest OS update.I'm a relatively new Mac user. I've tried repairing disk permissions and running the maintenance scripts.
