Applications :: Note Taking Software Like Microsoft Office OneNote?

Apr 18, 2009

I'm going to college in about 4 months and I am looking for a note taking software. Something like Microsoft Office OneNote, unfortunately that is only on windows. I read on a website some good ones are:

xPad
Journler
Scrivener
Mori
Notebook
myNotes
Yojimbo

Just looking for one to keep things organized and full featured like tabs, highlighting, sorting, etc.. Is anyone familiar with a good note taking software?

MacBook Air :: How To Read Microsoft OneNote 2007 Files

Sep 8, 2014

I've installed Microsoft OneNote for my new Mac Air running OSX 10.9.4, but am unable to read OneNote 2007 files uploaded to OneDrive in the .one format. I'm perfectly willing to switch to Evernote, if there is a way to import .onr files into Evernote. Do I need to save them on my PC in a different format before uploading them?

Files I'm trying to read were created with OneNote from Office 2007

Applications :: OneNote On Mac With Crossover

Sep 18, 2009

I installed OneNote on my Mac with Crossover. It worked fine for a while, but now it refuses to let me open any of my OneNote files. It tells me, "Microsoft OneNote has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I have tried everything that I can think of to try to recover these files, but, then again, I do not know much about computers.

Applications :: When Microsoft Releasing Newer Version Of Microsoft Office For Mac?

Oct 2, 2009

Does anybody know when Microsoft plans on releasing a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac? One of my co-workers currently own the 2008 version and he's really unhappy with it. He has an excel file that's around 4MB in filesize, containing some 11,000 rows and a bunch of columns too and it's really slow to work with (he has a 1 year old MacBook Pro) and some times excel also "runs out of memory" it says and the application just freezes. It should be updated properly etc, but I wonder if maybe a newer version more suited for Snow Leopard, might be released soon?

Applications :: Looking For Paint Equivalent For Mac?

Oct 22, 2010

iPhoto is great, but I need something like windows Paint, that can edit photos, i.e. color in/out a license plate on a car pic and what not. I'm looking for a simple and hopefully free equivalent, not a professional program at this time. I'm new to mac, so I don't know what's out there and didn't see anything listed in the help menu for mac apps here.

good Graphmatica equivalent for OS X? I've tried geoMac and EdenGraph, but like neither of those.

EdenGraph can't plot multiple curves at the same time, and while dragging, the curves disappear, while with geoMac I have to manually specify the range when drawing a graph of the function, and I don't know how to get the coordinate of a point on the graph.

Applications :: How To Find Any DVD Equivalent

Jun 17, 2007

I'm desperatingly looking for the AnyDVD equivalent on Mac, the famous Win software from Slysoft. I tried to use DVD2One, which itself is very fast (considering that it uses all the CPU cores), but unfortunately it cannot handle copy-protected DVDs. First ripping the DVD on the Hd with Mac The Ripper is a time wasting, considering that in Windows AnyDVD simply removes the protection via software, without any previous extraction of the DVD content.

Applications :: How To Know About MS Project Equivalent

Feb 10, 2009

As a Project Manager, I live by MS Project. It is the standard at work.

I have successfully replaced all my Windows apps with Mac equivalents or better with the equivalent of MS Project.

Is there a professional project management application out there? Possibly sharing (via export) files with MS Project?

When I work from home, I am on my Mac, but need to have the Windows laptop on, so that I can switch/refer to MS Project.

MacBook Pro :: How Do I Uninstall Microsoft Entourage And Microsoft Messenger?

Sep 7, 2009

I installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2008, but I really do not want or need Microsoft Entourage or Messenger. I have read that if you only uninstall part of Microsoft Office, it'll create problems with the other programs in the suite. How can I go about safely uninstalling these programs? Do I need to fully uninstall and then re-install? I made sure while installing Office to opt for a custom installation so I could un-check Entourage and Messenger. However, I didn't see those specific programs on the custom installation list. Are they maybe under a different name (like, for example, "Microsoft Essentials")? I don't know what to do. Help is much appreciated!

Applications :: Apple Mail's Equivalent To Gmail's "send Mail As"

Oct 2, 2008

I use Apple Mail as a client for my Gmail account instead of Gmail's web interface. There is one thing the web interface provides that I'm not sure how to set up within Apple Mail. In the web interface under Settings --> Accounts, the first section is called "Send mail as:" and allows you to send mail from the interface that uses another email address in the From header. I have it set so that when I receive a message that was sent to one of these other addresses (they all forward to my Gmail address), replies will automatically be sent with that address as the From header. How do I set up this functionality within Apple Mail without creating a separate account/inbox for the other accounts? I am not checking mail directly from the others, just want to be able to send as them.

Applications :: Looking For A "corkboard" Or "bulletin Board" Equivalent For My Mac Desktop?

Mar 30, 2010

I am trying to find a mac application that will act like a "bulletin" or "cork" board for my desktop.

A physical cork board in your office allows you to pin up certain ideas, articles, etc. I'm trying to find something like this for my desktop. What I ideally want to do is have something that opens up full screen, and will allow me to track projects that I have in different stages of development. I have a CRM that I use now for the details, I essentially just want to see the project names, organized by where they are in my development cycle.

For ex:

Early Development = Project A, B, C

Ready for Deplolyment = Project D, E, F

Deployed = Project G, H, I

Etc. And it would easily allow me to drag and drop projects according to where they are in the cycle, for ex, Project A, from Early Development to Ready for Deployment.

I am envision something that looks like iCal, except allows a bigger picture view that just months/weeks/days. It might be an app for the Dashboard, or something else.

I can do this very easily with a physical cork or magnet board, but I'd love an application that could pop up on my giant Mac display with the same info.

Applications :: Microsoft And The Mac App Store?

Nov 2, 2010

Do you think Microsoft will offer its programs on the Mac App Store? I would really like to see the apps from Office sold separately. I never really bothered using Word even though I know its spell checking and grammar are far superior to Pages because of the price of Office. I would buy Word from the Mac App Store if Microsoft offered it separate from the other apps. I'm sure some people would buy Outlook too instead of paying $279 just to get Outlook. I mean I bet a lot of people who buy Office only use a few programs right?

Applications :: Microsoft Framework X Error With OS 10.3.2?

Jan 13, 2004

I just installed MS Office for OS X on a brand-new Powerbook G4 running 10.3.2. Unfortunately, I made 2 mistakes. I didn't delete the Test Drive before installing, and I may have overwritten one of the cache files (in Documents:Microsoft User Data: Office X Identities: Main Identities: Cache) with an older file.

Right now, whenever I start any MS Office component (Word, Excel or PP), I get an error message: "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework X library."

The program then works, it's just irritating (and a little worrisome).

Based on info I found on various newsgroups, I tried removing and re-installing Office again (I had already removed it, deleted the Test Drive, and re-installed it). Didn't work.

I also checked ownership and unlocked status on files in:

Microsoft User Data: Identity:

Library: Preferences

Applications:MS Office X:Office

and couldn't see any problems.

I ran Disk Repair to verify and repair permissions.
