Applications :: MS Office For Mac Under Corporate License

Mar 24, 2010

I have recently acquired a Mac with Office 2004 installed under a corporate licence. Obviously I could just use it but I would rather do the right thing and have a legitimate licence. I have access to a 2004 upgrade version. can I install the "upgrade" over the installed version and then register my details et al and use the upgrade key?

Applications :: Does Apple Corporate Use MS Office Or IWork?

Apr 26, 2009

Anyone have direct experience and know whether or not the Apple corporate offices encourage the use of iWork over Office? I would think that in some jobs Numbers would be fine, but the engineers for instance would have an easier time with Excel.

I'd imagine everyone uses Keynote for sure though.

Applications :: Does Anyone Have An Office 2011 Open Academic License

Dec 22, 2010

I want to buy Office 2011 but I'm trying to figure if I can find a cheaper version than the regular Home and Student. I live in Denmark so I don't have access to all the discount-stuff that you have in the states. However, I stumpled upon a version called "Open Academic" that I can purchase for about 2/3 of the normal price. I want to be sure that I can make it work though. Does anyone have this version, and can they verify that I don't need to register it as being a student somewhere in the US (or any other parameter that I don't fullfill being a normal university student i Danmark)

OS X :: Change License Name In Office For Mac 2008?

Apr 13, 2008

I just installed Office for Mac 2008 and after my name it picked up another line of data. I'm not sure if it propagated and I missed it, or what happened. Anyway, I tried to uninstall and reinstall Office, and also tried emptying the trash before the reinstall. However, I cannot get the screens to come up that ask for the product key and name so that I can correct this. Does anyone know how to do this?

Applications :: MSN Messenger Corporate Account Unable To Connect?

I installed the new version of msn messenger for Mac 7.0.3

They finally made the video call option available in this version but only in the corporate account. Here is my problem, I can connect normally to msn but only in my personal account not the corporate.

Once I try to connect to the corporate account, it acts like if it was not connected to the internet at all (even thou it is) and prompts me this message:

Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the Internet.

Applications :: Installing Office And Removing Office 2008?

Oct 27, 2010

Ready to install Office 2011 for Mac. Currently we are running Office 2008 for Mac.

What is the best way to eliminate Office 2008 and to ensure a clean Office 2011 install?

For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.

Applications :: Office 2004 Versus Office 2008

May 31, 2010

So here is my dilemma. I got a letter a few days ago from the college I am going to, and it included a list of requirements if we were bringing our own computer. One of the requirements was if we had a Mac, to have Office 2008. I have talked to a friend who is replacing her current Macbook with another Macbook later in the summer, and we decided that when she bought her Macbook, that we could split the price of Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. Now, should I just go ahead and continue on with the plan with my friend, or what? Is there a huge difference in Office 2004 and Office 2008?

Applications :: Iwork Office For Mac Or Open Office For Mac?

Feb 27, 2010

Whilst still waiting for the MBP refresh, I would like some advice on which office software you would recommend.

I have decided to convert from being a pc user to have a go with a mac as i have heard so much positive info about its OSX operating system.

I have many word files etc (obviosuly coming from a pc).

What would you recommend,

iwork (55 pre installed)
office for mac (?)
open office (free)

Which one if all of these will enable me to just plug in my usb stick and download all my word/ excel files and pictures without any issues and edit/ change/send again without any issues.

Software :: Configuring Mac VPN Settings For Connecting To Corporate Network

Dec 1, 2008

I have been using Ubuntu for quite a while now, but after buying the iPhone 3G I fell in love with Apple products, and now I am stuck with a MacBook Pro. I have been connecting to the corporate network via vpnc on my ubuntu, and it has been working flawless. But now I have problems to configure my MacBook's VPN settings to it will work. The only information I have is this, and this I used to make my Ubuntu work for my VPN connection:

Gateway: 1.2.3.4
Group name: linux-vpn
Username: myusername
Type: IPSec gateway
Auth: Xauth username

I don't provide any secrets or anything, and still it works. Anyone with insights of how to configure the Mac VPN to connect me to my corporate network. The corporation is one of the largest telecommunication company in the world, but they have no support for Mac users.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Can't Connect To Servername/mydevices Via Corporate VPN

Feb 1, 2012

I have an established/viable VPN connection into my company's network on my iPad.

- I can ping our 10.7.2's Lion Server's IP and Host name fine.

- Other internal web sites work fine.

- I can access the Lion Server internally from my Mac fine - connecting to https://servername/mydevices.

- Turning the server's firewall on or off doesn't matter.

The iPad tries to connect for like 45 seconds then comes back with the following error message:   "Cannot Open Page" "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". I should mention that I have an ongoing/open case with Apple due to errors received when trying to enroll devices internally.

Applications :: Office:Mac Versus Office - Windows And Camino Versus Firefox

Feb 14, 2009

I've heard Office:Mac isn't that great, and doesn't make up for what iWork 09 is missing. So I'm wondering what people think about it and why does it get such a bland reputation? Also, do people use a combination of the above? Such as iWork and Office:Windows? Both Offices? I do mainly word processing, some soft Excel work (no hardcore giant spreadsheets...yet), and general PowerPoints for presentations. I have access to cheap iWork/Offices (school discount) and a family pack of the top-level edition of Office:PC (family) so it isn't a big deal to get any of the above.

Lastly, what's the difference between Camino and Firefox? I use Firefox currently and love it, mainly due to the add-ons (weather at the bottom, Gmail alert, skins, page views, other customizations). Tabs seem to be on all browsers these days, so are there any other key differences?

Applications :: Mac Office 2008 And Powerpoint Versus Office Powerpoint Compatability?

May 8, 2009

I'm sure most people suffer from this but here goes.

So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.

Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.

Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.

Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.

OS X :: FCP License Key Location / Filename?

can anyone point me to the correct file for deletion, so that when i relaunch any of the studio apps, i will be prompted for (correct) license key information?

Windows On Mac :: Visualization And Backup (Need One License)

Sep 18, 2010

I need to install windows on my iMac. The plan is to install it in under bootcamp so that my better half can boot to windows for her stuff, which is straight forward enough. I will probably install parallels (or similar) to give myself the option of either boot to windows or access it virtually. Now, on the basis that this is a first for me I have a couple of questions that I could do with answering from those that know this stuff.

1. Am I likely to run into any windows licensing issues. I'm assuming that I will only need 1 license.
2. If I edit a file, a word .doc for example, in a virtual window, is that edit saved to the original file? e.g. if I then boot to windows and open the file, then the edits made virtually are there. Simple stuff I know, but like I said, it's a first for me.
3. What are my options for backing up the windows partition, can I back it up using Time Machine / Capsule?

ITunes :: License New Computer After Old One Died?

Jun 9, 2012

I have a 2007 MBP that had the video card recall (unbeknownst to me until after the fact, might I add). Last year, the video card went out without warning, and Apple says the only thing they can do is replace the Logic Board, but it definitely will not be covered under the extended recall warranty because the issue happened outside of the warranty date. Anyway, all of my iTunes library on that machine is lost I suppose. I didn't have it synced to my phone at the time due to space issues, so I don't have a copy of the library anywhere except in a Time Machine backup. I don't want to restore this new MBA with the entire backup, only the iTunes library. Is it possible? Or can I just re-download the songs since this new iTunes account is set up in the same Apple ID?
