View 3 RepliesI want to completely reinstall my SL onto my MBP just to have a fresh start and 0 out my hard drive. I've already backed up all my important files and everything I need, but when I put in my SL disc it tries to read it and then just kicks it out of the drive without ever showing up on my laptop. It is not the disc I used when I upgraded my MBP from 10.5 to 10.6 though because I misplaced and cannot find that copy, but I am using a friends copy (I don't think this is the problem). I know my drive should read it because it reads every other CD I put into it and it shows up on my friends MacBook as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wrote a disk image of Tiger I acquired legally! to CD-R (I got a DVD with the CD disk images on it from a friend who has them) using MacDrive on my PC as the disk drive I put in my eMac does not have burning enabled for w/e reason. So, yes, I put the CD-R into my eMac, it shows up on the desktop and it then asks me to restart my Mac to continue with installation, on boot it gets to the Apple, the disk drive ejects and it boots into Panther.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy do I keep getting the message that my external hard drive has been ejected improperly when it has not been ejected at all?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message that my disk has not been ejected correctly when I haven't done anything to my G Drive. This happens frequently. It is my back up drive connected to my iMac running OSX version 10.9.4

I've got a 2008 Mac Pro running Snow Leopard, and there seems to be some problems with my USB "system". When I eject an external hard drive, my usb mouse and keyboard will stop working for a short while, sometimes requiring that I unplug and plug them back in. Also, when I try to set my default audio input/output device to my USB interface, it resets every single time I turn the computer on and off. Not sure if these are related, but it seemed relevant.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been burning a couple discs recently and as soon as it finishes burning it ejects them then tries to verify the integrity of the burn.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm just surfing around the web and click on something, sometimes I'll get an error message from Mac about a disk not being ejected properly. I'm going to try to figure out how to take a screen shot of it so I can post that too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy disk drive is stuck in the ejected position.
When I try to inserrt a disk you can feel the mechanism stuck in the ejected position. suspect I will have to have it serviced and I do have apple care.

Since installing Yosemite, when my Mac Pro comes out of sleep, I get a "Disk not ejected properly" for each disk drive attached by Thunderbolt 2. This all worked fine on Mavericks.Â
(I have a similar problem with my dual displays, which again worked fine on Mavericks - I've posted this on a different thread under Mac Pro).Â

(Office 2008) Word, Exel, PowerPoint, (Iwork 2009) Numbers, Pages will not save:.
I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
props to Stuipdboy1000 on the heads up
under Quick Links
you can see iWork '11

I need to update iWork on my Mac cos iWork 08 docs don't work on my new iPad. But iWork 09 is about 18 months old now so surely will be updated soon. Would anyone who is learned in the product cycle of Mac apps care to hazard an educated guess on an update?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to Lion, I have been having problems backing up to Time Machine using a LaCie external disk. Time Machine worked fine before the upgrade to Lion. The backup usually starts correctly, but after backing up around 1GB, I get the following error message: "The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging or turning it off". The disk has over 80GB of space available.

Indeed, is there a difference? I notice that Family costs more than the other one, but I can't make out what difference there is in the description.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there any talk of an update of iwork '08 during Macworld '09? I am a switcher to Mac as of last month and I really like pages instead of word. I've been using a trial version and I'm going to buy it, but I was wondering if I should stick it out by using google docs in the event that they release iwork '09. By the way, in case any admins are reading this post, why don't they include Apple software in the Buyers Guide?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhy is save as an iWork 08 file an option in the new iWork 09 programs? Does iWork 08 use a different extension that cannot open iWork 09 documents?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I used the iWork '09 trial for 30 days now and now I have a box version and I want to simply use the buy function from the trial to upgrade to the full non-trial version. It has: Quote: If you've purchased an iWork '09 box, you'll find the serial number on the Installing iWork '09 booklet. There's only one problem, there's no serial number on the booklet! How do I install using the buy function or do I have to install the full iWork suite again on my computer? Seems kind of silly. If so, do I need to then uninstalling one of my versions of iWork '09? And if so, which one? How do I tell the difference at that point?
Some of you might be wondering and about to comment on the fact that I should have just bought the online version and saved the hassle. The reason why I bought the box is because I could get it for $39 at my girlfriend's campus computer store.
I've been scouring Google for a while trying to find a way to do this, but to no avail. I have a playstation emulator on my mac and am attempting to mount an iso of a game to play it. (As a legal sidenote, I do legally own the game and ripped the iso myself from the original disc, so there shouldn't be any issues with that -- I just don't want to have to use the cd and keep it with me, etc.).
I have been able to get a perfect .iso, .dmg, and a folder containing the files. The only thing I can't manage to do is mount it in such a way that the emulator will see it as a disc and not a mounted image. That is, the typical Disk Utility kind of mounting. I have tried it with Roxio Toast versions 7 and 10 (10 is the latest, but I had heard that 7 mounts it in a unique way) to no avail.
There is an old program called Virtual CD-RW ([URL]), but the application won't even open when I downloaded the demo version (double-click/selecting "open" simply didn't have any response at all). However, the kind of language used to describe it seem to be what I am looking for: manipulating kernels in such a way that other applications see it as an actual, physical cd-drive.
Assuming I don't have any more luck with Virtual CD-RW (still trying though), is there any other program/OS way to accomplish this?
I have 2 computers and want to use iCloud with iWork docs, but my files don't show up. Software is up to date and iCloud turned on, but all I get is the intro screen like "Pages for iCloud" with buttons at the bottom "Get Pages for IOS" and "Learn More". My Contacts and email was working from moment go, but what do I need to do to to use iWork in iCloud?

I bought a WD My Passport 071A Media 1TB External Hard drive yesterday and was hoping to use it for my Mac and PC laptop. So I plugged it into my mac and it asked me if I wanted to use it for Time Machine and I said yes. It reformatted it and then I realised i wanted to partition it so I went to Disk Utility and split it into two partitions, one 50GB for Time Machine and another 950GB for my other storage, and made that FAT32 format. So I copied a song onto that partition and noticed it was copying really slow, so I copied the same song to the 50GB partition and my other 1TB non-portable hard drive which is also FAT32 and it was normal speed. So I thought I should try removing the 50GB partition and halfway through my computer froze and I had to reset it. Now my hard drive won't work in Mac or Windows and when I open Disk Utility, I see it there but when I click on partition, it freezes and I have to Force Quit the application.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this probably has been answered elsewhere on this forum...but I can't find it. I already own iWorks 08. Is there enough of a difference/improvement between 08 and the 09 that would make it worth getting (I am a cheap Presbyterian you know)? From what I have read it seems that most really love the 09 Keynote.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an 8 month old MB, 2.4 Ghz, 4GB Ram, 160 GB HD, running 10.5.5. I normally do the updated from Apple when the updates come out.
Anyway, I was trying to reformat/erase an external hd; I didn't see the Disk Utility icon on my Dock. I had used Disk Utility before (last time was maybe a month or two ago).
Go into applications, see something called disk utility, but it has a different logo (a piece of paper with a pencil, brush and ruler in the shape of an A). I click on it, it jumps once and does nothing. I figure it needs to be reinstalled, but the DVD that came with the computer says I can't install OS X on this computer.
what's the different between I download iwork on app stores and buy iwork software?and one more question about Pages in iwork is that can Microsoft office word open the document create by Pages ?

I have a MacBook Pro running Mavericks.Â
Recently I noticed that if I run Check Disk in Disk Utility, all the process works correctly but at the end it doesn't tell me that everything is correct (in green).
On the contrary, if I run it in recovery mode, (reboot w cmd-r), it works correctly to the end with the correct green result at the end.Â
If so, does Numbers now include the Panes feature that Excel has had for yonks (where you can have your header row and/or first column stay visible wherever you scroll within the sheet)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have never reformatted a mac as of yet so I'm not really sure how to go about it.
I've had my Powerbook G4 for around 4-5 years and I simply have NO CLUE where all the discs are that came with it. The other day I just upgraded to Leopard so I was wondering if it possible for me to reformatted the HD by using only that Leopard install disc?
I'm currently doing a Physics report on Pages '09, and I plan on using equations in it.
I'm going to type the equations in on Grapher, then drag and drop them into my Pages file.
However, I have a kind of OCD when it comes to college work, and everything has to be in the same font. What font does grapher use?!
I have recently purchased a MacBook, so i'm new to the platform. I believe the main "office" type package is iWork which will open DOC, PPT and XLS files. My question is should iWork come pre-installed or on the Mac Applications DVD? I have just loaded in the Mac Applications DVD and it seems to have "Macintosh HD" on it, which i've now installed. But no iWork.
