I need to put together a quick montage of a couple of classic movies for a project I am working on and I found the footage I need through iTunes Store. Here's my question, how do I pull the m4v or mov file?
View 1 RepliesI used to watch movie trailers on Front Row. In the Lion update, I just discovered that it doesn't exist anymore. I have tried to use iTunes, but there is no link or anything. Did Apple just cut all of this stuff completely? Is there any way to view trailers in as nice a way as front row if at all?

I have a Mid-2011, 21.5" iMac running Yosemite v10.10.1. I upgraded from 4 to 8 GB of RAM about a year ago, but I don't think that's an issue with this problem.
I can no longer download movie or tv show purchases from the iTunes Store to iTunes v12.0.1 on my iMac. The download starts and lists in the Downloads pane in iTunes. However, once the download has completed and the Download progress bar message changes to "Processing..." iTunes crashes. When I start iTunes back up again, the downloaded movie is not present in my iTunes Movie library. However, if I navigate to the iTunesMovies folder, I can see a folder for the movie and a file instance of the movie (in m4v format) for every attempted download. Something seems to be going wrong with iTunes ability to add the link to the movie file into my iTunes library.
I tried adding the movie folder and file manually to iTunes using the iTunes->File->Add to Library... menu option, but iTunes instantly crashes the moment I click the "Open" button in the Add to Library... dialog window.
I have several movie purchases and gifts that I'd like to add to my local iTunes library, but this error is blocking me from doing that.
Some weird things about my iTunes library on my iMac:
My iMac does not have a large enough built-in harddrive (only 500 GB) to store my iTunes library. In a prior version of iTunes, I located the library on an external 3 TB USB-3.0 harddrive. I'm wondering if there's a bug in iTunes 12.0.1 that occurs when adding content to the iTunes library when that content is located on an external harddrive, i.e. in a folder other than User{my username}MusiciTunes Media. Perhaps I need to change the iTunes folder structure on the external harddrive to mirror the new folder structure in my User{my username}Music folder. I'm a little leery about doing this as I do not want to break all the links in my iTunes library to existing songs, movies, etc.

View 12 Replies View RelatedQuick Time used to work fine, but now when I click on Watch Trailer in Apple Trailers, the link opens ok, but when Quick Time opens, it gives an error that says "A necessary data reference could not be resolved". When I click on Ok, the window closes.
Any ideas what to do? I did recently upgrade my hdd and used Time Machine to restore my data/programs.

can anyone tell me what i may be doing wrong? i am trying to create a movie using video clips from my camera. when i download my movies to iphoto, they work great. when i drag them to imovie, they play but i do not get any sound. the 3 little check marks are there but still no sound!

I have a question about moving all of my avi movies from the movies folder into iTunes. I do have toast titanium which I was planning on using to convert the files before moving them. I guess my question is would it be possible to convert all of my movies into iTunes and A. Be able to watch them in good quality on my tv and B. Be able to check off which videos I want to ne synced to my iPod to take them and display them on a different tv via the nano. I would just like to hear if anyone has the same setup going on or if it would work better keeping all of my avi movies in a folder and converting them to iPod format on the fly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with iTunes (9.2) and a movie that I rented from the iTunes Store. Around a month I go I rented 'Borstal Boy' when it was the 99p Film of the Week. I then transfered this to my iPad to watch on the train, which I did. I have obviously synced back after this. Now everytime I download an app, or podcast etc, 'Borstal Boy' is automatically added to my download list and starts to re-download (1.08GB). If I cancel the download it automatically adds itself back into the list next time I download anything else. If I leave it to download and try to play it (to force it to recognise that it has been watched), it asks me to confirm that I accept I have 48 hours to watch it once it starts, then it says that "it is authorised to play on another computer or device". If I delete this, it will then just try and re-download. stop this from constantly trying to download? I've watched the film, and don't want it anymore.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded handbrake to my hp computer running windows vista. I tried to "rip" a couple of movies. That worked...I think (m4v file format) But I cannot figure out how to get the movie in to iTunes, so that I can put the movies on my iPhone or iPad. I tried dragging the file in to the movie section, and also going to the menu and opening "add file" (or something like that). Nothing happens! When I ripped the movie, I selected "iPhone Ipod touch". I also should mention that when I double click on the file, and try to watch the movie on my computer I am unable to watch it on any program. For example it says that it is a file type that QuickTime does not recognize. I am completely new to this and simply don't know what im doing!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI saw a couple of other threads talking about this and thought we should have a thread where you can show off and share your own custom made Genre thumbnails. In case your not sure how to do it this is a good guide: [URL]. Basically you need to create a jpeg, put it in the right folder (iTunes>Contents>Resources) with the correct name and then adjust a tiny bit of information in the genre plist.
Its very simple and people who have no experience with this kind of stuff will be able to do it easily. Also if (like me) you are annoyed at the fact that some genres are missing you can add your own in the exact same way as in he link posted. Note in mine that Action & Adventure are now two separate genres and i've added Gangster, Kung Fu, Comic & Anime. Mine are all supposed to be the best films of that genre (ok maybe not Transformers ). Pic link now added, download!
