Mar 17, 2010I know it has been talked a lot about ripping and converting Blu Ray DVDs. Without a doubt Windows Users have a lot more apps to choose from - as always. Well, as I looked thru dozens of forums and tried out a lot - I still have no answer to my problem. I want to use m2ts - video files from Blu Ray Disks, that I copied onto a harddrive and convert them into 1920x1080 px MOV files - so that I can work with them later on. My interest is not to work with a 1to1 mkv-version of the whole film and sound and subtitles. I just want to convert the copied file to work with it in a video editing program. Some Apps seem not to offer 1920x1080 output file size. Is this possible without an complete Blu Ray Rip with Tools such as Pavtube etc? And can one only convert from an Original BD Disk?

May 18, 2009I have these Numbers files but need to send them to someone who is using a pc with MS Excel. She won't be able to read the files if they are left as .numbers. The odd thing is that I have successfully saved some of the files as .xls and .xls.xls and even some as .xls.numbers.
However, I have lost data when doing some of these savings - I have been taking the .numbers file and trying to save it as .xls but when I open the newly-saved file there's nothing there. Aug 31, 2009I need some help to convert .dv and .avi files to ipod touch compatible files using handbrake. When I try to choose either file type as the source file it just says 'no valid title found'.
The .dv file is a clip shot with my video camera and imported onto my mac using imovie, then saved as separate full quality file, in order to have a separate file that is not sitting in imovie.
The .avi file is a downloaded movie.
Both movies play fine in quicktime player and VLC player.
The Handbrake program does work as I have successfully converted a file ripped from a dvd using mactheripper.
I am surprised that I can't get it to work, as other threads on this forum recommends handbrake as the best software for video conversions for ipod.

Oct 8, 2009I haven't found anything on internet about this, so how I had founded a solution, I want to share it.
One day, my Macbook White brokes and I needed to recover a curriculum, and it was in a .pages file. So I had to recover it in Windows, because I have no one who could convert it in Pages.
1� Rename .pages file and add .zip extension. That makes the content of the package visible with any zip utility, (in my case WinRAR).
2� Uncompress the package.
3� Go to QuickLook and search for Preview.pdf. That's a pdf file that contains a low quality version of your pages document. Almost all of the content is in index.xml, but It's very difficult to extract manually the information.
4� Convert the pdf file to doc with any pdf converter. For example: [URL]
5� If your document has attachments (like images), you can replace low quality images of Doc document with the original images located in the uncompressed package.
That's it, of course this works for me with a simple Pages document with an image, that doesn't mean that works for every .pages file.

Aug 7, 2010I have a collection of .htm files saved onto my Mac hard drive. I want to convert them to .jpg files--all at once. I found a Windows program that could do it, but when it converted them, it would not retain the original file names. It gave them a sequential file name, i.e. _1.jpg, _2.jpg, _3.jpg ~ _263.jpg. There is no option to retain the original file names...:/
EDIT: (i.e. marketingtable.htm > marketingtable.jpg)
So my question is, is there an Automator process that could batch convert .htm files to .jpg? Or is there an app for Mac that can batch convert .htm files to image (.jpg) files?
I usually am able to find the answer to all my questions with Google, and this time I thought I had as well with the Windows app, but it brought upon too much of a feat for me to handle.
(Also, if there's an Automator process to batch rename files using a .txt file as a reference for the new names of the files, that'd be awesome as well.

OS X :: Unable To Copy Music Files / Merging All Music Files In One Folder?
Sep 25, 2010I finally ripped my music into digital format. It is a very large library so I performed the rips in four segments creating four folders of music. The highest level folders are Music1, Music2, Music3, Music4. The next layer folder is the artists name, then album name, then the actual MP3S.
How do I merge the folders? If I perform a copy the first artist name is sees that already is exists, the finder wants me to skip the copy or replace the folder that is there. I simply want to add the folder or merge it. Is there a "merge" function in OSX? I tried Carbon Copy but it will not copy or sync fils on the same disk.

Jan 17, 2009I'm trying to bring all my music files from my Windows computer so I copied all my music files from my Windows computer to my external hard drive, and then copied from the external hard drive to my iTunes music folder in my new iMac. When I compared the info between my iTunes music folder, and the music files on my external hard drive, the iTunes music folder had more files. By looking through the files it looks like two extra files were added to each album folder....a "folder.jpg" file and a "AlbumArtSmall.jpg" file was created. I know that these are only pic files, but I didn't have those files when all my music files were on my Windows machine, how come they show up now? Are those two files necessary? Can I just delete those?

Nov 14, 2008I had to move around my files recently so needed to change the location iTunes looked for them. I ran across a hack whereby you edit the iTunes Music Library.xml file and then intentionally corrupt the iTunes Library.itl file so that it reimports the next time you restart iTunes (I'm sure many of you may already be familiar with this hack).
It almost works. Problem is that it doesn't import all my files. I have over 10000 files but it only imports 6445 of them. I noticed that the original xml filesize is 16MB. After importing, it gets chopped down to 10MB. What the heck is happening here?

Oct 25, 2009I am a "sort-of" new iTunes user. I used to use it to play music without care of how to use it properly. Since I did not want to carry many CDs around, I copied all the CDs into the HD of my MBP. For simplicity, let's say I named the folder of the first and second CDs to be CD1, CD2. I don't remember how I stored the files. Either by drag and drop to the list when iTunes is launched or by some kind of import function from iTunes. The files in the iTunes folder do not seem to correspond to those shown on the iTunes list. My music files are all over the places. Some in the library folders and some seem to be in the playlist. Some of them seem to be in the unknown artist folder, etc. It is like a mess. As I just bought the IPT, I want to re-organize the files before syncing the music files from my MBP to the IPT. What is the best way to do in this case?
