Applications :: Unable To Change Snow Dock Candybar & Dock Library?
Jun 3, 2010I've been trying to change my docks theme for the past few days but have been unable. I've used Candybar, Dock Library etc. and none of them seem to work. I'm really annoyed because it used to work for me. Any suggestions on how I can remedy this problem?

May 25, 2010i've been using liteicon and iconfinder.com to change my dock icons. for those who are familiar with using liteicon, im only able to change the finder, dashboard, trash empty/full, "url"??, and widget icons. these are easy to change with a simple dragging and dropping of the icon you want onto the icon you wish to change. but as for the other icons you may have put on your dock, im totally lost on. for an example, i've been trying to change my ichat icon, and ive read to click "get info" on the icon i chose to change it to, and click command + c, then go to the original ichat "get info" and click edit, then command + v (copy + paste obviously) and it's not working? i'm totally lost on how to change such icons that aren't listed in the liteicon application! the other question is how do i change the application/document/download icons on the dock? even through liteicon, i'm not able to change it. do i need a certain kind of file type?

Oct 11, 2010Ok so I am new to mac and I would like to change my icons on my dock but for some reason only one pack I have downloaded so far has worked. All the other sets I've tried (3 or 4) come up with the preview icon when I try to copy them onto the default icons. Does any one know why this is happening and can somebody please tell me how to fix it?

Dec 21, 2009When you right-click or hold down an icon on the Dock, theres always a white pop-up that says (ex. Open, Remove for Dock, Show in Finder, etc.) I saw a YouTube video of a guy that had a black pop-up and I asked but he won't reply. Anyone know how to do this?

Mar 15, 2010Basically I changed my dock to look like it was wood, not the usual grayish transparency one. It all worked. However, when I moved it from the bottom of the screen to the right of the screen, it goes back to the original dock. And even if I then try to change it to the wood-like one, or even any other dock, it just doesn't change. I know, trivial, but it's just bugging me. Why?
The above is solved. However, then I went to try and find some replacement docks for 2D? If that's what you call it - but I can't find anything. What I have done is put the dock on the right hand side, making it 2D, and all I have been able to find searching the net are 3D replacement docks. Does anyone know how I can possibly change the dock when it's on the right (or left) side? I want to make it transparent, or at least a little lighter.
OS X :: Change Unpinned Icon Position In Dock
Oct 27, 2010I am wondering if it is possible to fix the position of an icon in the dock without actually pinning it there. Thus it is not on the dock unless it is launched but when it is in the dock it is on a specific location. I think those overly crowed docks are pointless and only for people who are incapable of useing spotlight or other launchers. I launch apps with spot light and use the dock much like a windows Taskbar. The problem I want my browser close together but I don't want safari's button to be around unless it is actually launched. I sometimes hit it accidentially and there is no point to it being there when it's not running, at least none that I can think of.

Jun 2, 2006I'm using CandyBar to change the icons, and the Dashboard icon is changed under both System and Applications. In Finder it looks like the one I want to change it to, but when I move it into the Dock it just looks like the default icon. The same thing happens with the Finder icon. Any ideas? Oh and to change the iCal icon, is there any way to change the way the icon looks when you have iCal running? It just looks weird to have it look one way when it's closed and change back to the default when it's open.

Jun 24, 2009I followed some guide on how to change my dock. It was this one. I got up until this bit.
Go to Macintosh HD > /System/Library/Core Services/
Right-Click on "Dock" and select "Show Package Contents"
Go to /Contents/Resources/
Backup the files you are about to replace (Incase you did not listen, here they are)
Move those same original files to the trash
Then I got stuck. I resetted my Mac and now I have no dock ! How do I get my dock back! I have the back up folder, but where the hell do I put it to get back my dock. On the " Dock " icon I have a little circle with a line init. This is what the contents of my Dock folder looks like .. inside " Contents " I have the " Back Up " folder. As you can see I already put in the contents of the Back Up Folder into the Dock folder but nothing has changed. This is whats in my Dock Back Up Folder.

When I tried to change the Finder icon, (used copy paste of the new icon to the Finder in system/library/core services/finder) it worked for the icon (in the folder) but will not change in the dock. I have relaunched the Finder, restarted, logged in and out. The new icon appears changed both in the core services and also in Finder contents folder, (Finder icns.) but the Dock icon remains the same.

May 25, 2012I know that in a Standard account users are restricted, and cannot for example change the dock. But how does an administrator make the dock how it should be (for students) and then turn on the restrictions so that the students cannot change how the teacher made it? I first tried to make the account an admin account and changed the icons while logged in, then logged out (and logged in as a separate admin) and changed the student account to Standard. Logged in as student but the dock didn't save what I changed, it went to a default dock that I cannot change!

Feb 15, 2009I'm having a strange problem with my dock and dashboard, whenever I add Items to either they quickly vanish, not allowing me to change them. With the dock, I can't add Flash CS4 to the dock, it will just appear, then disappear. With the dashboard, I can't add any widgets I've downloaded without the dashboard closing to desktop. I've tried reinstalling the widgets, no luck. Has anyone had this problem before, or know how to fix it?
