View 3 RepliesI have noticed this buzzing noise (like crackling electricity of sorts) coming from the left side of the machine out of the cooling vent. I bought my IMac in 2010 and have not had any problems with it until now. I noticed the "noise" a couple of months back and it would show up here and there every once in a while, it was not annoying, so I let it be. Until this last time, when the noise was loud and annoying, I could not just forget about it. I am under warranty and called into Apple to see what can be done for this problem.

I have had my 15" macbook pro for about 6 months now. Amazing labtop...
Now i have learned almost all of the keyboard shortcuts and use them very frequently. The main ones I use are obviously + C followed by + V . However, recently my + C refuses to work! To copy something I have to manually go into the edit menu and select copy. Yet, all of my other keyboard shortcuts, including + V continue to work!
I don't understand. How do I fix this? Keep in mind, this has been going on for about a week so the computer has been turned on and off many times.
I went to install a typical Mac OS update using software updater only this time when it completed my click-drag and copy-paste functions stopped working. Can anyone help solve this? Here is what I have tried.
restarted (multiple times), tried booting up in Safe Mode (by pressing shift when starting up), and repaired disk permissions using disk utility. I even ran all of the daily, weekly and monthly scripts using Cocktail.
Copy and paste do not work for me in Lion 10.7.3.

I am desperate for help because whatever I do I cannot get my own certificates to work. When I first set up Lion Server a so-called Intermediate CA and a corresponding SSL server certificate was automatically installed and that works fine. Now, I wanted to create my own Certificate Authority (CA) and a leaf SSL server certificate.[URL]First I created my own CA, and then I created a new certificate with the Server App (ID type "leaf", certificate type "SSL server". (see screenshots below), and I had it signed by my own CA. When I checked the certificate it said "valid".Next, I exported the certificate from the keychain (as .p12) and then I went to Server App's "Import a certificate identity" to drag and drop the certificate onto the window. So far so good.
When I opened the list of certificates (Server App -> Hardware -> SSL -> Edit ) the new certificate showed up once, and after the Server App had tried to install the certificate it simply did not show up any more. I have copied the important parts of the certificate below (private parts have been cropped).The common name and the DNS name are "myserver.domain.private", and yes, DNS is working fine.(I stopped started services and re-booted in between creating and importing the new certificate.)

Just made an image slideshow in Final Cut.
Just a bunch of images and some audio.
When I export via File > Export > Quicktime Movie..., the cross dissolves between images disappear when I watch the movie in Quicktime.
When I export via File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... the color looks horrible in the Quicktime movie.
I have a bunch of dvds (that I own), but I would like to have them on my mac so that I don't have to pop in a dvd every time I want to watch them.

I think I have found a flaw in OSX 10.6.4 file copying..I normall back up my files, by dragging from a folder on my HD to an identical folder on my external HD.The folder I am copying has 86 files in it, but there are only about two dozen new files added since my last back up.I have been telling it by the dialogue box, not to replace identical files in the back up folder, and clicking the check box to apply to all."but when I press the dont copy button, in the copy progress box it says it is copying 86 files. I have an iMac and a MacBook. My brother is getting a MacBook Pro for University and wants to be able to use the programs (Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc.) on our iMac from time to time. The problem is the school gave him no install discs, they just copied a disc image to his drive.
My question is, can you just copy applications from one computer to another? I know in Windows this was impossible, but on a Mac the applications seem to be more self-contained. I did copy one app successfully (Comic Life) but will doing the same work for all apps?
Put simply, I am looking for a CloneCD equivalent to the mac.
More specifically, I am looking for a program that will copy and/or create disk images (either iso or dmg) of CD-roms or DVD-roms with copy protection on them. Obviously, trying to do this with disk utility or the wonderful open-source disc burning utility "Mac OS X Burn", which does almost everything else, will fail.
I have a couple of games (some of them are on CD-rom, others are on DVD-rom, and I am sure they have copy protection.) and I want to copy them onto my HDD as some form of a disc image file so I can just mount them when playing the game.
P.S. Please don't bring up legal issues. I bough these games and I am just copying them onto my HDD to play myself while saving some battery power on my laptop. It's not illegal, and more importantly, even if it was, it doensn't matter because I don't find it morally incorrect.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have my iTunes on my MBP but want to be able to copy it to my Mac Pro. I copied the folder on my local directory/Music/iTunes. It contains many folders such as iTunes Library, iTunes Music Library.xml, etc. I copied that entire folder to my Mac Pro in the same location, local directory/Music/iTunes.
I then opened iTunes. All of my music was there but one issue I have is with Podcasts. I subscribe to many of them but have some set up to only keep one at a time, others to keep all podcasts that I have not listened to, etc. The problem is it just simply downloads all podcasts, not deleting any. It seems some of my preferences aren't being copied. Is there another location that I have to copy some type of prefs from?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Mac Mini is running very slow and its not a RAM problem. But testing iDefrag showed the hard drive needs a defrag. I back up to Carbon Copy Cloner. Would booting to CCC on my external drive, erasing the hard drive through Utilities and then copying the CCC disk image back to the hard drive resolve the problem or just repeat it?
