I'm installing mew new MBP and installed Growl. In the growl preferences, I see that only Firefox is listed even though I have Adium and lot of other Apps that support growl installed. How can I add them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I installed Snow Leopard I have an annoying bug when I have Growl and Firefox installed. When I start up Firefox, the windows isn't on focus (window is kind of in the background). On Leopard I started Firefox and immeditatly I could press cmd+L to write the homepages. With SL I need to click first into the Firefox window because it wasn't on focus after starting up. This weird behaviour only appears when I have Growl installed, if i deactivate Growl, Firefox starts on focus, but since I need Firefox AND Growl, this annoys me a lot..
Could anybody of you who also uses SL, Firefox and Growl test if the Firefox window is on focus after starting the app, ? I tried it on 3 different Macs and all of them have the same bug. :-( I already wrote to the Growl and the Firefox team, but until now both of them say it's the other apps fault...
I'm sure most of you use Growl. Well I left my MacBook Pro on all night uploading some junk and when I went to it this morning it was doggggg slow, the dock refresh was tearing, it was horrid. So I opened the activity monitor and Growl was taking up 3.4 GIGS of virtual memory.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just switched my settings in Mail so that I'm now checking my Gmail accounts using IMAP rather than POP. This has gone smoothly save for one thing: Growl now notifies me of every piece of Spam that comes into the Spam folder on the server. Is there any way to adjust this?
Likewise, Growl also notifies me about anything new message on the server, whether it's an e-mail I have sent (added to the server-side Sent Messages folder) and also takes to notifiying me two, three, or even more times for a single message (because it comes into the All Mail folder on the server and then into my client-side mailbox in Mail)
Just an FYI, CS5 will install Growl automatically and start it. Yet the only app that it lists in the Growl config for Adobe is the Adobe Application Manager?

Does anyone else have this problem? I am using Bowtie V1.1 and Growl V1.2 .
I have 10.6.4 with the latest version of Mail and GrowlMail. Sometimes, it decides to show me the notifications and sometimes it doesn't.
I've already checked to see if I enabled the settings correctly in Syst.Pre/Growl and Mail preference as well.
Is the Growl project dead or did someone simply forget to renew the domain registration? The homepage growl.info seems to have expired and now points to a placeholder page for parked domains.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an LG HD Recorder. After the purchase, I only then realised that it is only connectable to PC via a software called "Nero Media Home 4 Essentials". Therefore this software cannot be used on a Mac. I wrote to LG and theyconfirmed that it is only for PC and they do not intend to issue one that is to be used for Mac. It would be awesome to be able to connect Mac with the HD Recorder, as I can then stream music from iTunes etc. As such I am not able to fully use this incredible piece of equipment.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSince adding Growl 1.2 (no problem with earlier versions) I continually get a pop-up error message entitled "iDisk Error" that states "There is a problem syncing the file 'Growl.prefPane'. The destination (iDisk) does not support symlinks. Try compressing the file or folder first." I went to the Growl forum for help and was told that Growl doesn't use symlinks and that therefore the problem must be with MacOSX and/or File Sync or some configuration on my system. I'm using a late 2008 MacBook Pro, with max RAM and MacOSX 10.6.1. My only alternative right now seems to be to uninstall Growl.

I've decided that I prefer not to use Adium so I dragged the application from my Applications folder to the Trash. My question is how do I remove Growl from my system? The icon is still showing up in System Preferences. This is one caveat I have over Windows. Apple should make an uninstaller to completely remove all necessary components.

I've never been much of a Firefox fan. I think it feels too much like a Windows app, it's not as integrated into OS X as Safari and, in my opinion, it hasn't been as fast as Safari. I have to give it props for having add-ons and extensions but it creates a lot of security problems and conflicts with other extensions. I don't understand why so many people like Firefox so I just want to ask: Why do all of you like Firefox?

I don't know what to do here. Do I not install Java - assuming it isn't already installed (and that raises another question, how do I find out if it is installed?) It seems that not having it installed is affecting the ability of certain programs to run on my Mac, so is there an alternative program I could use? My Mac is OS X Version 10.7.4.

I've done a search and fond a really good one, but it's not available for the latest version of FF. I've also seen a few that were PC only but the rest I've been finding are more like spell checkers.
notice the studdery video and scrolling in firefox? I searched on google a while back and found a thread that said it was firefox saving the tabs every 5 seconds that caused the lag. So I set firefox to save them every 5mins or something and that worked for a while but now the problem has returned.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to open a pdf file in Firefox I get a dialog box asking me to "Open with" or "Save to Disk"? The problem is the "Open with" lists only an old app that I no longer have, and doesn't give me a choice to select which app to use. If I go ahead and click OK it opens in Preview which is fine, but why does the dialog box only show an old app that is no longer available? How this this info get filled in, and how can I fix this?

Right now I'm writing in Firefox on a PowerBook that I borrowed, and I'm ashamed to say that I miss a feature from Internet Explorer 7's tab handling.
I love tabs, I have 10 or 20 of them opened at a time, IE7 is really slow with tabs, but it has a feature that I liked: When you have, let's say, 10 tabs open, and you are on tab #1, and a new tab opens from a link inside #1, it won't go to #11 like in Firefox, it opens between tabs #1 and #2.
