I just installed Geektool and added the date and weather to my desktop, but everything won't refresh (ex. my clock is stuck at 7:18 when its 8:10). I've tried manually setting the refresh rate to 1 second, but it send my CPU and memory usage soaring. I had it working perfectly before I added the Weather.

I disable and re-enabled (which seem to just remove the icon and had me copy it back to PreferncePanes) but did not give me an option.
I know running applications, you can right click in the dock to add to startup items, but Preference Panes, I am missing the key how-to.
I have GeekTool 3 and weather is not working. I am trying to get the current conditions, temperature and a picture of the conditions, but it is not working.
Can someone give me the code and tell me what information to fill in?

Not only that, but I can hear thunder, see lightning and judging by the very dark shade of the clouds around my house, I can pretty much say it's damn sure about to start pouring. What I'm getting at is that this widget has shown nothing but sunshine all day and all night tonight. The temperatures seem to be close, but that's about it. Just curious if anyone else noticed any inaccuracy with this Accuweather widget.

I have been asked to do a project at work in Excel. I am keeping track of around 7,000 properties all over the United States. My boss wants to know a lot about each one. I am really struggling with the weather part!! I need to somehow pull the temp and if its snowing or raining from the internet into excel. I have all the addresses and zip codes for each property. I was thinking i could write a formula that looks at an RSS feed or website (like yahoo or Google weather) based on the zip code of the address. I could also write the formula that pulls the weather to excel then VLOOKUP the zip. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I am not sure what to do!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.
In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.
Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?
I've noticed recently that when in Finder, all folders/files have a Modified Date of somewhere in January 2009 or January 2008, regardless of when it was actually modified/created. My clock at the top left-hand corner says Oct 20 though. Any thoughts?

Is there anyway to fix this or some resource file I can delete to stop it? I've already backed up the resource files so deleting stuff is okay.

Have hundreds of emails not broken up is difficult to read/organize. Maybe a setting I am missing or another App I can download. For clarity, I am not talking of sorting by date rather having the emails in sections by their date received and broken up a bit more.

Tried to delete preferences for system ... Every time I try to uncheck the box marked or open the Date and Time preferences, it freezes and have to force quit.
I have 4 weather widgets (the standard one that came with OS X). And after a restart, some of them have gone up a bit, or down. So as you can imagine with 4 of them, it can get unorganized if I don't move them back to their original positions.

But after reading the reviews on them... I am under the impression that many users have run aground and encountered problems attempting to interface them to a Mac or PC. I have a spreadsheet for tracking parts ordered, and simply need to display how many days a part has been on order. I have a column for date ordered, and one for date received. Is there a way to program the formula to tell me the days that a part has been on order without displaying today's date in the spreadsheet (leaving it blank), and still be able to enter the date that it does arrive for our records?
My girlfriend and I have been sharing her Kodak camera for a while now. We use it to take family photos and such. I then use iPhoto to import the photos and break them up into events. Well, I let my girlfriend use the camera about 3 months ago and she changed the time stamp of the photos to 2008 instead of 2009 somehow. I sat down about a week ago to import all the photos we had since taken and was shocked when iPhoto put the new events way back with events from 2008. I then realized the time stamp was off and about had a fit. I quickly rectified the problem on the camera so this will no longer be an issue, but we have tons of great photos which are all incorrectly dated.
And call me a perfectionist, but its driving me nuts!! Now whenever I'm showing friends and family photos I have to scroll way back to 2008, and its just not fluid. I have tried quite a few things to change the date stamp. I cant seem to find any options in iPhoto, so I went into finder and opened the "Get Info" pain to see if I could manually change it, but no dice. I've googled for a week now and cant seem to find an answer. Does anyone know of some software that can handle this or a trick im overlooking? (Just to clarify, by date stamp, im not referring to the date image ingrained on the picture itself, but rather the date the camera assigns to the image file.)
I've just noticed ical has jul 17th, when I launch ical in corrects itself, when I close ical, it returns to jul 17th.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to import iPhoto Events into Aperture through Aperture's built-in function (File->Show iPhoto Browser). But the Events are sorted alphabetically instead of by date. I can't figure out how to fix this. On a couple of occasions I've opened the iPhoto Browser to find it sorted by date, so I know it's possible. Was it a fluke or is there a workaround?

I have no difficulty in inserting the date( from the date menu), and I saved it as a template. The question is that when I use the template next time, the date is the date that I created the template. While apple's template has no this kind of problem.

I use the Date Added column all the time in my iTunes, so I can see what was added last. Well, I just noticed that most of the 10,000 songs in my library have at some point lost the original 'date added' they used to have. Now, the earliest date is sometime in February of 2010. And some have been set to just a few days ago. How did this happen? Is this a bug of iTunes 10? I only just noticed this, so I'm not sure when it happened.

I want to create a chart that shows the highest given value for each day (regardless of which hour it occurred) and another chart with the highest given value by hour. In the above sample the chart would show:
10/01/09 56.7
10/02/09 44.5
10/31/09 56.6
12:00am 56.5
01:00am 44.5
02:00am 17.5
I am able to do this in excel very quickly by using a Pivot Chart, but can't seem to figure this out in Numbers.
