This is the weirdest thing, Firefox sometimes crashes when I press +Q to quit it. I cannot figure out what is causing the crashes, but it occurs most frequently on the site [URL] where xxxx are 4 digits I can't seem to remember (KoLmafia's relay browser). Most of the time it does not crash. The few times it does, it always does it on quit.
I'm using Safari 4 beta and it keeps crashing after no longer than one minute of use. I have deleted the plist, reset Safari, uninstalled and reinstalled, used multiple users, and no luck. I've been using it since it first came out with no problems until now. I did a search but all the threads I saw were about Safari 3 and none of them had a solution that worked yet.
Firefox Sync is now integrated into the browser A new tab overview feature has been added New API for accelerated JavaScript animations Buffered property in HTML5 video supported
There have also been a bunch of other changes that affect add-on developers, detailed here.
I'm currently using the Firefox 3.5 Beta4 version and it's a damn memory hog. It uses 600MB after a half an hour of browsing unless I restart it. Is this normal, or is there something wrong with my computer?
I've been using Safari 5 since it came out but decided I give the new FireFox Beta 4 a look see. Here's what I got after the install. I looked at the toolbar customization but I don't see how to correct this.
I am Using a new Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. After having used, and been pleased with Firefox for years now, I find that it just isn't up to snuff on this system. It's super slow most of the time (whereas Safari isn't). It isn't optimized for some websites, like eBay.. Can't upload photos using Firefox. And each time I try to quit Firefox, I have to go in and manually "Force Quit" Because it freezes and won't quit on its own.
Lately I have been noticing some applications, most memorably Safari and Pages, quitting unexpectedly. I'm just in there and boom, out of nowhere, it quits. Has anyone else had this problem or know what may be causing it? I am on a brand new 15" i5 MBP running Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I was going to switch back to Chrome from Safari, but since other apps are doing it too. I'm thinking it's not just the web browser's fault but the fault of something else on my computer.
I seem to recall that up until the last several updates it used to be OK, but ever since it takes around 30 seconds or more for firefox to quit.
Even when I clear out caches, it still does it. I have no idea. I mean, Safari quit immediately, as does pretty much everything else. No biggie, just annoying.
When using either Firefox or Safari, recently, to watch instant movies via Netflix, the browser unexpectedly closes. Sometimes it gets to the buffering stage. I've cleared all my private data (history, caches, cookies...) and redownloaded flash/shockwave. I have the most current Silverlight too.
Any ideas? It worked perfectly since I've had it (about a month or two), up until today.
My add-ons are all installed, and enabled, but most are not working. The plugins are all just gone, such as flash. I installed flash again, restarted, and it still doesn't have flash.
I like Safari's U.I. very much, but, everytime I load around 5 pages at the same time it starts to freeze and give me the rainbow circle on the mouse pointer. If I open the same sites with Camino everything works great and even faster than Safari.
I do not want to quite switch to Camino, because its UI is ugly, but its really superior to Safari on speed terms and has the same compatibility as Firefox, because its Gecko engine (?). I will miss Top Sites and Safari's UI so much
How your Safari works? Is it fast and freeze free?
Is Firefox crashing frequently for anyone else? I'm running 3.6 and it is crashing on me almost every day, and every time it is just after I start typing in the address bar or the search bar.
I just bought an iMac G4. This machine has been great, until a few hours ago. I was surfing Camino, when I went to go to IE for Mac (to check my Gmail, because Camino crashes when I go to Gmail) and then the same website I typed in on IE [URL] showed up in Camino. Of course, Camino crashed. Then, Camino started itself back up again, automatically surfed to [URL], and crashed again. Then Camino started up again...(and so on)
So I chose to force shut down the computer via the power button (which was probably a bad choice). When I got back on, I tried starting Camino. It crashed almost as soon as I clicked on it. I tried again...same thing. I soon came to realize that everything to do with the internet (Camino, Safari, IE, AIM) crashes the same way (almost as soon as you click on it). You ask how it crashed? Just the normal "This application unexpectedly quit" type.
Today, after updating to Snow Leopard, I have been noticing that when I have been working on a word document (Office 2008), when I quick (command + q), it will go to close and then suddenly crash asking me if I want to send a crash report and relaunch. Has anyone else been having this happen to them? It has happened a few times today to me. it is always when I am quitting with a document open (but saved).
For the last couple of weeks, while using various programs (Firefox, Word for Mac, etc) my computer (or the individual program) has crashed. Also, After sleep, the G5 would not awake even if I pressed the power button. I changed the Energy Saving schedule to 15 minutes for both settings. Before it was an hour. We had to actually shut of the power supply and turn it on again. Then it started up.
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5, Main syncing computer is MacBook
My Safari has been crashing for MONTHS now but recently it would do so more when opening up Youtube on another tab, so I resorted to using firefox for that. But now Safari will crash for NO reason, I'd simply check my email then open another tab and BAM it crashes and lately it wont even let me send the report to apple! And on top of that Firefox wont even open for a second before that crashes too!
Also, I downloaded the new version of Flash, but it wouldn't work on safari and from reading on here I found out the new version wasn't compatible with my mac os x version so I uninstalled and reinstalled the old version like someone said to do and it worked for firefox but it still wasn't working for safari.
Anyways, I tried the "remove flackback" thing and it said "No flashback malware found"... so I have no clue what's going on.
I've noticed the past couple of months that as I'm using Firefox, i'm having to have to 'force quit' many times a day. it's getting really annoying - i'd switch back to safari, but i love using firefox (minus this issue).anyone have the same problem, or a solution b/c it's getting a bit frustrating.
Firefox works great, but when I quit the app, I have to sit and wait several minutes for it to finish quitting before closing my laptop. It's not a big deal, but it's annoying at times - especially when I'm rushing in between clients. I'd like to be able to just quit and close and off I go. Is there any way to lessen the time that it takes FF to quit?
Got the computer a couple days ago and firefox has been crashing a lot. I cleared the history and cache but it still crashes. I did a quick search and it seems like a lot of people are having this issue and there's no solution for it. I was doing something very important and this has been pissing me off. If I don't find a fix I'm going to return this POS as the only web browser I like is Firefox. It's rarely ever given me any problems on windows based computers.
I've been having problems with Safari and Firefox crashing regularly since installing Snow Leopard last week. I have a feeling it might have something to do with Flash, as earlier today Flash itself was crashing in my browser without actually taking the whole app down with it.
I have a first gen MBA. It is 1.6Ghz with 2GB of Ram. I am trying to watch the NCAA tournament on MMOD and the quality is terrible. It gets so choppy and I often have to quit Safari or Firefox and even restart the computer. It usually starts off ok but after a few minutes it becomes unwatchable.
What is wrong? I am not running anything by the OS and the browser. It isn't my internet as it makes no difference if I use wireless or ethernet and my download speeds are about 10-15Mbps. I don't have any problems watching streaming on my 5 yr old Dell.
I loved the speed improvements Snow Leopard gave to my computer, but I knew that I would have to do a clean install sooner or later. Now, Safari and Firefox are crashing frequently (multiple times a day!) and everything is slowing down again. I'm hoping a reinstall of the operating system will fix that. However, I used up all 5 installs on my Family Pack. Can I reinstall Snow Leopard with that disc, even though all 5 installs have been used? Do I need to buy another copy? Can the Genius Bar do the clean reinstall for me while my computer is there for other repairs?
Using 10.6.8, Mac Pro Intel Xeon.I installed a third hard-drive the other day, and older one I had left from a previous mac. I had been wiped, but I noticed the computer started up very slowly, so I removed the third hd again. Still the slow startups, so I started up in safe mode, but then Safari and Firefox would not open, they would crash immediately during startup. So I rest the pram, but still the same issue with Safari and Firefox not opening, google chrome works fine thgouh. Here the crash report from Safari?
