View 2 RepliesWhy is save as an iWork 08 file an option in the new iWork 09 programs? Does iWork 08 use a different extension that cannot open iWork 09 documents?
View 5 Replies View RelatedDo you think it's too much work with the conversions and stuff and possible formatting differences or do you think it wouldn't be a big deal? I'm talking about for like high school or college

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've figured out the way to share between two macs by enabling "file sharing" to "everyone" connected to the same network. Suppose there're three macs in the network, A,B,C. Is it possible, however, just to share files in A with B and leave C unaccessible to A and B? To put this in short, may I share files to a specific user on the network instead of everyone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSoon as I upgrade to the latest version of OS X Lion, my Win 7 Pro machine can't see my Mac to map a drive. It worked perfectly when the mac was on snow leopard.I read somewhere that Apple removed/shutdown smb in the Lion operating system and that is what's causing this issue.

I recently bought an MBA. I am using it to write books now that I am confined to bed more of the time. I have a home network with several Windows PCs, one of which has a large capacity RAID configured disk. I would like to use the Windows disk for backup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to ensure that when two Macs are File Sharing with Firewire that they use that connection rather than the network connection? Anytime I connect I can't tell how I'm connected until I try to transfer a file and it says it'll take fifteen minutes. If I turn off my airport it'll then use the firewire and transfer in seconds. Is there anyway around having to disable wifi to get it to use the wire?
Also, how do I turn on file sharing for just one other Mac? I just want to be able to share the files on the Mini with the MBP, not any other computer on the network.
I have iWork '09. College have iWork '06. I need my work in iWork '06 format and I see no way of doing that in '09. I'm not bothered about data loss.

I'm not sure why, but all my MS Word documents have the generic file icon and nothing that makes me think Pages '08 is going to open that file. This goes the same for .xls documents. Even though both file types are set to open in iWork, they retain the generic blank icon.
Is this normal? Shouldn't they have Pages/Numbers icons respectively, even if they were created in Word?
On my iMac and MacBookPro I cannot save .pages documents to iCloud iWork. They appear on the iWork screen, but I cannot retrieve them.
However, from my iPad it is no problem!. After editing in iPad and save the documents to iCloud back it is possible to download these on my iMac or MacBookPro without problem.

I'm looking to take multiple documents and create one PDF file. Like scanning multiple pages of something and instead of having each page be a file, creating one file. In Preview, you can open multiple PDFs in the same window, but if you print (or Save to PDF from the print dialogue, it will only do each document as is. I would like to avoid loading multiple pages into Word and then exporting to PDF and I would also like to avoid having to buy Acrobat. Is this PDF function limited in OS X or am I missing something?
View 24 Replies View RelatedHow do I add one of these to my iweb site? In as simple terms as possible! And please don't be too generic as in "Create a new ____ then type..." I'd prefer "Create a new ___ by going to ___ and selecting ___..." Oh, if you can't tell me how to put on on my site, please could you at least tell me what it's called?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have not upgraded my Microsoft Office to operate in OS 10.7.2.Thus to open a word or excel document I must first open Pages or Numbers then find the document and it will open.To move to another document I must start over. How can I set a default that always opens the Word or Excel document directly with Pages or Numbers?

I'm running Parallels with a Ubuntu VM to test my new NAS computer, but I can't seem to view the Ubuntu services with other computers on my network. Is there a setting or something that I can change that enables Parallels to share services across the network? Right now I'm limited to seeing services from Ubuntu with OS X on my MacBook running the VM.

I tried to set up a home share between mine and my girlfriend's MacBooks. It worked okay both ways, but then I disconnected my ethernet cable and the connection dropped.
I started fiddling around and discovered that home sharing only works as long as any one of the two computers is connected to the router with a cable. The other one can be connected wirelessly. But it won't work if both are wireless at the same time.
syncing iWork documents over iPad iPhone and an iMac??Have tried many things to get this to happen?
View 3 Replies View Related I have iWork 08 and it is HARD to use because of not being able to send my documents or open up others - originally made on a PC. I just got an email about iWork 09 and while looking noticed it says we can now open up windows docs AND save our work as documents!? So does this kill the essentialness of anything windows for students?
I have a:
Macbook Pro running Mac OSX 10.5.8
(Office 2008) Word, Exel, PowerPoint, (Iwork 2009) Numbers, Pages will not save:.
I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
props to Stuipdboy1000 on the heads up

I need to update iWork on my Mac cos iWork 08 docs don't work on my new iPad. But iWork 09 is about 18 months old now so surely will be updated soon. Would anyone who is learned in the product cycle of Mac apps care to hazard an educated guess on an update?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just ordered my first mac and decided to get a iMac 27" Quad Core i7. I am attending college so i thought i would purchase parallels desktop 5 incase i would need to run a windows program for a class. I was wondering if there was a way to install both boot camp and a VM using the same partition. In other words i want to be able to access my files i create in my VM in boot camp and vise versa.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIndeed, is there a difference? I notice that Family costs more than the other one, but I can't make out what difference there is in the description.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a new iMac with Leopard. I already own a MBP with Tiger and I am trying to shares files between the two. The MBP connects to iMac and shows files easy as...however I have enabled sharing on iMac when I choose Network it recognises the MBP but always says connecting and after a few minutes shows connection failed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two users defined on my macbook (one is New, and the other one, the Old one, is what I've always had).I was re-configuring File Sharing on the Old user.I turned files sahring off in the Old User, but when I log into the New, I can still acess to some folders that I have never set to be shared; only few folders have the red restricted access on it. The New User does have file sharing disabled, and non of its folder can be accessed; so, it's working Ok for this New User.Â

Is there any talk of an update of iwork '08 during Macworld '09? I am a switcher to Mac as of last month and I really like pages instead of word. I've been using a trial version and I'm going to buy it, but I was wondering if I should stick it out by using google docs in the event that they release iwork '09. By the way, in case any admins are reading this post, why don't they include Apple software in the Buyers Guide?
