Currently using iMovie or iMovie HD to edit two videos of my friend and I playing classical music. There is no obvious way to edit two videos to an audio track. Do I need to buy Final Cut? I really only need this facility once or twice a year.

I'm wondering whether to go PC and Sony Vegas Home Studio or iMac and use iMovie but I'm not sure if iMovie can do what I want: I want to make a music video for a track I made, in Sony Vegas I can add a audio file to a track below the main video track and see it's waveform, then edit the video clips to match certain points in the track. Can iMovie do this? I've done a bit of searching on the net but can't find a answer. All I've seen the green background that gets added to clip window. Also is a Quadcore i5 OK for video work?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need a music editing software for creating music sets for my bellydancing sets. I need to be able to cut pieces of songs to create intros and exits. I want to be able to fade the beginning and end of songs. I also want to be able to add a recorded introduction to the beginning of a song. I've tried audacity, but it required another software to put it in the right format for burning to a cd. too many steps. I want a software that can read the songs from itunes and create the set in a format that can be easily burned to a cd.

I would really like to know (as well as friends who have asked me) where or IF I can get a music editing application for my mac so that I can edit iTunes songs. I just simply want to make it so that there is the classic *beep* sound instead of the swear word, or even just mute the vocal while the sole beat of the music is still going on (like how the radio stations do it).

What I hope to do with it is a) Back-up files on my MB using Time Machine, and b) Back-up files I have on a 250GB Lacie portable HD full of photos/videos/music.I am requesting advice on how to back-up a back-up (ie. backup my Lacie onto my Seagate). Is there a popular freeware program that I should use to do that? I suppose I could just copy and paste the photos/videos/music, but I'm sure there's a free program that does syncs, which would be way more efficient.

Problem is, now I can't find those concerts on iTunes, I can still view them on the iPod, but I can't find access to them through iTunes to edit info/delete them if I want to. Programs for simple tasks like uploading music onto devices should be efficently coded, not resource hogs that are incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complicated. Why can't we just drag and drop music and videos directly onto our phone like we can with just about every other media player? I already have all of my music organized just as I want it on my computer. Just let me drag the folders I want directly into the iPhone without having to bother with a 100mb download that runs like crap.

I am currently attending college for motion picture/video editing and am at a stand still on what laptop I should purchase since my old one from 2006(HP) just doesn't cut it for HD video editing.
My main question is will I be able to edit HD video(720p,1080p) smoothly without many hitches on the new macbook pros?
I would be using the new final cut studios and be getting the 3.06ghrz, 4gigddr3 ram macbook pro.
Everything was good to go, but then I saw a sale for an HP laptop that had nvidia 130m graphics card, 4 gigs ram, and a 2.0ghrz core 2 quad processor.
The price of the hp with those specs was about $500 cheaper and if I wanted to up the ramm to 8 gigs and give it a 3.06ghrz core 2 duo processor, it would have been roughly the same amount.
Some drawbacks from getting the hp would be my inability to use final cut so I would need to get Adobe CS4 instead.
I would only be using my MBP for video editing/mac apps/diablo 3(when it releases), so would all that extra power on the HP be necessary?
So I've recently purchased a late 2013 27 inch iMac i7, 32gb ram, and for some weird reason my tracks don't stay synchronized. I always synchronize my videos, 2 tracks, in the beginning but for some odd reason it ends up out of sync towards the end. I tried the detach audio enter realtime method, it worked temporarily but it went back to the weird sync issue.

I used my iPhone 4 to record some video taken over a vacation in hopes of making a movie whenever I could. Today, I imported my videos from my iPhone into my Macbook Pro using iPhoto, and then iMovie automatically synced the videos just placed in iPhoto
First of all, I posted the exact same topic in the "Digital Media" section, however it's been about two weeks since, and I've received no response due to the section's user traffic, or lack thereof.
Now, my problem is that I recorded about 5-6 hours of footage and iMovie has it all in one location called "iPhoto Videos." Furthermore, whenever I click into that location (folder), iMovie lags ridiculously it's very hard for me to navigate between the various days as it's all compiled into one location/folder.
Also, I'd like to mention that I've made movies before, however they were neatly organized by date as I was able to import the footage straight to iMovie instead of iPhoto (using a digital camera with a video recording feature).
Using a MacBook Pro (early 2008) 2.4Ghz 4Gb Ram running Snow Leopard 10.6.5. When I got this I never had the foresight that I would be editing videos. So its pretty easy to eat up lots of disk space. I was looking at a SATA Express 34, my question is - how do these Cards / drives perform I would want to use it for Videos, and Virtual Machines.

I import and edit a lot of videos using imovies and final cut. a week or so ago final cut x started slowing down a lot and crashing and then imovie started wit hthe same simptons, i've tried reinstalling both, deleting the full .plist and preference files, i tried installing a fresh lion install and then installing just imovie and final cut and the same thing happens. does anyone have any idea of what the problem might be ? the fact that i used a fresh installation of lion and saw the same issues makes me believe it's a hardware issue but nothing else seems to slow down or have problems. Is it maybe the RAM?

This might be silly but i really dont know how to do it.
Its simple,
You know in Windows, if you want to rename a music file, you can simply right click on it, then you go to properties.
Then you can go to Summery, then after clicking on Advanced you can edit every information about that music file, such as artist, album, gender, year and so on.
in the mac, i tried clicking command+I to open the info for that track, but i couldnt change any of the information just like the windows.
Please note that even if you edit these information with iTunes, its still not change the original file.
so ive just started TAFE/college doing sound production and i can't decide if i should get the high end 13" 2.7GHz i7 MBP or the low end 15" 2.0GHz i7. both refurbished. or if i need one at all? my current pc is abit old and i would like a new computer to run either logic or cubase depending what i end up with (pc/mac) so i can do music edits and mixing (maybe with visuals) for TAFE and possibly for my future career, i also plan to do home recordings when i can get the equipment. Nothing too fancy just basic home recordings. I can afford the 15" but wuld i be better off getting ther 13" and saving the money to buy the recording equipment i.e interface, cond mic.

I have Final Cut Express 4 running on an iMac with Leopard 10.3.5. The problem I have is I cannot hear a music track & the sound track on the film clip at the same time when I run the clip. I only hear the clip sound track until it finishes then the music track plays. If I drag the scrubber bar along the time line I can hear both the music & the Clip sound track together. This only happens when I logon to the Mac as an Administrator. (I have never managed to hear both sound tracks together whilst logged on as Administrator.)
In desperation I created a user account on my iMac. If I logon as a user Final Cut Express 4 works ok ? I hear both sound tracks together when I play the clip. Any ideas how I can make the Administrator account work as the User account does? As the iMac is only used by myself I don?t need any user accounts.
I do not own any Mac at home, but looking into one for college. I have read up on all the pros/ cons of the MBA (non-removable battery and RAM, lack of ports and optical drive, etc). I am not a computer gamer, so I stick to the consoles. I was wondering if a MBA is ideal for any kind of music production. Can it handle heavy music editing with GB or Logic Pro? Is it ideal with the somewhat "lack" of external ports? share your opinions and/ or experiences with music production for fun or work on a MBA. (By the way, I am asking this to decide whether I should be looking into a MBA or MBP for college September of 2009, so I have LOTS of time to wait for newer models).

How to delete all music videos?
I don't watch music videos, at all. I grew out of that when MTV grew out of its value. I want to delete all the music videos that I've ever been forced to accept when I buy music from iTunes. They are many, and I'd prefer to just sort by type and neatly find all the videos.....but I can't.
Storage is cheap, but I just can't let gigs of it be used to store things I don't care about.
