View 1 Replies View RelatedI get the following error message after installing the Messages Beta. I've since unistalled Messages and updated 10.7.4 hoping this would resolve the issue. It appears that some of the 10.8 security features(Gatekeeper)have been installed on my computer, but my system preferences application was not updated to allow me to change the Mac App store security settingsI do not have a current time machine backup to roll back the OS.

I have downloaded my first album from iTunes! Woohoo! Ok, not such a big thing really.
So now the album is in iTunes, but how can I make a back up of that album to sit with all the other music I have on my pc hard drive?
My add-ons are all installed, and enabled, but most are not working. The plugins are all just gone, such as flash. I installed flash again, restarted, and it still doesn't have flash.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but today my Apple Account forced me to change my Apple ID. Just moments ago, with all my prior Apple ID info intact, I downloaded the Beta for Messages. Is that involved?

I never download betas, jailbreak, or hack anything. I went on tuaw and they had links to Itunes 10.1 beta and iOS 4.2 GM and I couldnt resist. I have been running both for a week now. The itunes beta has a BIG BUG that is driving me nuts! Whenever I try to edit a song or artist name by clicking on it, Itunes force closes.
This happens every single time. My questions is for those who are used to testing betas and early releases: Once Itunes 10.1 is officially released, will it show up as a software update that I could just upgrade to? How does one update from a beta to a final public release of an application?
I like Safari's U.I. very much, but, everytime I load around 5 pages at the same time it starts to freeze and give me the rainbow circle on the mouse pointer. If I open the same sites with Camino everything works great and even faster than Safari.
I do not want to quite switch to Camino, because its UI is ugly, but its really superior to Safari on speed terms and has the same compatibility as Firefox, because its Gecko engine (?).
I will miss Top Sites and Safari's UI so much
How your Safari works? Is it fast and freeze free?
About a month ago, a friend who had just purchased his first Mac emailed me and asked why his Dock DownLoad file disappeared. I had no idea why. He still hasn't been able to reestablish it.
Yesterday, I downloaded something and my Dock DownLoad file vanished. I have tried rebooting, using (useless) Help, Spotlight, Search, and several other things. NO JOY. NO DownLoad file.
1. Does anyone know where to find DownLoad or how to bring it back?
I have experienced several idiosyncrasies with Snow Leopard, but when I call Apple support, they are very nice, but haven't a clue as to why it's happening.
2. Another problem is that the Highlight gets anchored on something in Mail, Word, and some other Apps. When I click somewhere else, the whole area between the "anchor" and what I click on is lit up. Apple doesn't know what causes it. I have to go through multiple machinations to shake it loose. I don't know what it is that causes it or specifically how to "shake it loose". Neither does Apple.
3. When typing in Word or an editor, there are times when the type changes to UpperCase and won;t let go.
Another problem is that, at times, when I click on a file, it fills the screen. Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to find an answer. Nothing, to date.
Apple support can't tell me why the MacMail Inbox spinner disappeared or how to get it back.
There are times when I can't access the hidden Dock. After rebooting and trying other things, the Dock finally shows up but any additions that I have put on the Dock are no longer there.
When I put a DVD in the slot, for the first few seconds, it grinds but does smooth out.
I thought that SL was supposed to get rid of the "foibles". "What happened on the way to the Forum"?
Is anyone finding other SL idiosyncrasies? What are they?
If anyone can help with items 1., 2, and/or 3. I'd be grateful.
BTW, Apple says that items 2 and 3 MAY be caused by the wireless Magic Mouse and/or the wireless keyboard; however, when I use alternates, it still happens.
I recently downloaded an avi file but it does not want to work with quicktime 7. Do any of you know why this is and how I can get it to work in Quicktime

When I click it it asks the usual question about whether I am sure I want to open it, but then it fails to launch and says it can't open and that there is an error. I tried checking the console, but I can't understand a word!. I am using a MBA latest revision, top spec, SSD running leopard.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI downloaded handbrake to my hp computer running windows vista. I tried to "rip" a couple of movies. That worked...I think (m4v file format) But I cannot figure out how to get the movie in to iTunes, so that I can put the movies on my iPhone or iPad. I tried dragging the file in to the movie section, and also going to the menu and opening "add file" (or something like that). Nothing happens! When I ripped the movie, I selected "iPhone Ipod touch". I also should mention that when I double click on the file, and try to watch the movie on my computer I am unable to watch it on any program. For example it says that it is a file type that QuickTime does not recognize. I am completely new to this and simply don't know what im doing!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded my first TV show from iTunes for the first time the other day. But, sadly, when I go to play it, all I can get is the audio and absolutely no visual. Nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? I have iTunes version 9 and use Mac OSX, version 10.5.8. I've already tried downloading the latest version of Quicktime to see if that would help but to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded music from solarseek, the files are "completly downloaded" never the less the files stay in the folder "uncomplete", the info details says "itunes Document" for each file, example of a files name , "02 brothers on the slide.mp3 - Hagafarta.solarseek".
I want them to play or to open, but they dont work on itunes, i downloaded manny files (songs) from different users on solarseek, so its not a problem of corrupted files.
I've tried installing the beta 4 and once loaded almost immediately crashes. Uninstalled / reinstalled - same thing.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn order to select which podcasts should be synced to the iPhone/iPod, one has to select the desired podcast subscription from the Devices/Podcast/Sync_Podcasts list. However, the podcast list in the Devices/Podcast/ page now only displays podcast subscriptions if it has episodes already downloaded. One cannot include podcast subscriptions if that podcast subscription currently has no downloaded episodes. This is annoying.
Worst still, previously selected podcast subscriptions that have no more episodes will no longer be selected anymore even if it downloads episodes later. Therefore, one has to keep going back to the list and selecting the podcast subscription over and over again.
My iTunes music files were stored on an external hard drive. But, unfortunately, the iTunes library file must have been on the laptop hard drive. Now, when I open iTunes music library and playlists are empty, despite my having 120GB of music on the connected hard drive.
Short of dragging and dropping all the music files into the iTunes window, is there any other way of "telling" iTunes where to find my music? I have tried "organize library" and nothing happens.
Earlier today, i was randomly browsing the internet when i happened to come across a site that automatically downloaded a file to my computer. I did not click on anything and, to my understanding, the site was completely normal. file downloaded: reimagerepairer.exe browser: google chrome is this a virus? seemed rather odd that it would download just by itself :| ... as soon as it downloaded, i went straight to the finder and trashed it.

I was just looking up the songs of the noughties, and I came across what appeared to be a blog, judging on the description google gave me. However on later inspection it appeared to be a kitchen website. Anyway on the website there was what appeared to be a video, and I was asked to do something, although it was in a windows style 'window' rather that the OS X style. I was promoted to download something from [URL] and I clicked ok, as this window would not go away otherwise, however I cannot find it on my mac, and it says it was an ms-dos executable file, does that mean it will not work on my mac? Here is the blog: [URL]

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt used to be (back in the day) that when I downloaded a file the originating URL would get added automatically into the Get Info window. That was extremely handy and painless - no copy/pasting needed!
These days I'm running Snow Leopard and I notice that, not only isn't this info added automatically, there isn't even a PLACE for it in the Get Info window anymore. How can I get this functionality back so that I can return to a file's originating URL somewhere down the line if the need arises?
How do I decompress a downloaded file
