View 2 RepliesI need a very fast download manager that can split download in many streams. I need it to work with Safari, FireFox, Chrome, Opera. I don't need torrent support. I need it to be stable, configurable (manage speed, manage time, etc.) and working with sites as rapidshare, hotiso, etc. I have found Leech, Folx Pro, Speed Download, iGetter (any other better ones ?) Which one should I use?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried out iGetter and Downloader as download managers. I then removed them both. However when I now click on a download click nothing happens. I suspect that there is some remnant of one or both which tries to call the program but can't find it.

When I try to download the Mac version the next page goes very briefly to the App Store followed by a a message saying "Cannot complete your rerquest."

I'm having a hard time downloading blackberry desktop manager for this operating system.

As the title states, I'm looking for a download manager that supports both megaupload and also a premium account.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnybody have an opinion as to a good password manager for osx? I'm looking for something simple that'll keep track of various accounts and passwords for me. I've been doing it with pen and paper for a while but there must be something out there - maybe even a widget? I guess I'd like it to have some degree of security (a password for the password manager - how do I remember that one) so maybe a widget doesn't work. A small app then - preferably freeware.

And needless to say my organizational skills are being stretched, My friend on a PC has a product called reference manager I was wondering if there was any equivalent that people have tried for Mac, I'd like it to seamlessly integrate with Word X and generally make my notes more manageable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had permission troubles, but iSync was working perfectly. I repaired all permissions with Leopard, then upgraded to Snow Leopard, now when I try to open iSync, I get this message:
iSync can't be launched.
The sync manager is not available.
Can you guys recommend a decent, free password manager? I was a big KeePass fan when I used Windows, however KeePassX doesn't have auto type on OSX. I tried 1Password, but I didn't like it very much and I definitely would not pay $39.99 for it.
View 22 Replies View RelatedMy question is simple: I'm looking for a free, safe, good password application to keep all my passwords and other account info organized. I've been using just a word doc, but I'm just starting to get a little scared with that since it holds really important stuff. Plus, it's not well organized.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI figured out two different programs to manage my different Accounts:
- 1Password [URL]
- Wallet [URL]
Both are in contrast to KeepassX closed source. So what do you think of these two programs?
First time poster who just recently made the switch from pc to my new macbook pro and loving it though i'm still learning the ropes so be gentle with me
Back in my windows days i used a choice little program called keePass to handle all my logins/passwords/serial keys etc etc not so much as to automatically fill them in for me but just as a record. Now that i've made the switch i've been having to keep a pretty messy rtf document until a better solution comes along. Any applications come to mind?
I was wondering if you all know of any program, thats a password manager. Well basically I wish to have a database, in which I have my own archive and store passwords. But to enter my archive, I want to enter a password, then I can access the whole list of sites & passwords I've stored. Whats the best app. I was thinking of making my own small database like with Microsoft Access.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for something more comprehensive than FF's inbuilt password. However, I was also hoping that the password manager would integrate nicely with Firefox. Right now, I'm looking at KeePassX and 1password. KeePassX is exactly what I want (secure, open source, etc) but I can't seem to figure out a way to integrate it seamlessly with FF- does anyone know how? As for 1password, I have difficulty trusting my password with it as it's close source and I'm paranoid that the commercial developer who coded it might have left a backdoor somewhere in the program (I know the probabilities of that are trivial, but as I said, I'm paranoid). So, are there any better alternatives out there?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been searching online for a few days now for a clipboard manager that can handle shortcuts/abbreviations. I do a lot of copy and pasting frequently used templates into forms for work and right now, it's not working the way I want it to. Currently, I use "Clips" as a solution. It works great... sometimes. I have submitted a ticket twice about my problem and no one seems to get back to me. What happens is that I will type my abbreviation and then it will either paste what I want in place of it, or not. If it doesn't, I have to restart "Clips" to get it to work again. Driving me insane when it stops multiple times during my sessions of filling out forms. I have about 5 phrases that I keep saved with an abbreviation as a shortcut.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCould anyone recommend a good video clip manager? Just for short home movies, etc. I currently store them in iPhoto, but it's not really what I'm looking for.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a mac program that can act both as a database (similar to an excel) and a document manager (where i can put all my important documents).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Mac and have been using Windows all my life. I use ACDSee Photo Manager on my Windows 7 machine which I really like because of its calendar view function. I'm able to choose a specific day, or month and all my pictures for the requested date pop up. I'm wondering if there is anything like that in iPhoto, Aperture or another MAC based photo application out there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAny app for MAC OS that will display my active windows? The app can run in the menubar or dock, or mount next to the doc. Basically, something like the taskbar from Windows XP and Vista. Not Windows 7 as that shows the active programs, but not specific windows. I'm basically looking for an Expose alternative. So if I have 10 different windows running for Firefox, I can quickly look at my menubar or somewhere near the dock, and just click the window I want to see. Yes, I know that is what Expose is for, but I prefer to see me active windows without using a shortcut.
So far here's what I've tried:
-Going to System Preferences, and unchecking "Minimize windows into application icon" in the Dock settings. This offered a partial solution as the icons could not be distinguished for the same program. 10 firefox windows minimized would just show 10 firefox icons.
-Googling the following terms:
app switcher for mac
mac expose apps
show running apps in menubar
show expose items in menubar
pin active applications to menubar in mac
always show expose for mac
application management for mac
I've also tried running these apps:
alunch: [URL]
WindowFinder 1.4: [URL]
Running Applications for Mac: [URL]
XMenu: [URL]
Himmelbar: [URL]
All of these apps more or less place one icon in the menubar, which when clicked on shows your running apps, favorite apps, and system folders. This is fine, and is very similar to the windows start button. However, they all fall short because they only place one icon in the menubar, which must be clicked on to show active apps or active windows. Can someone please point me to an app that will always be on my screen, and will show icons or labels of active windows.
Again, similar to Windows taskbar before Windows 7. I know this is a difference in Mac and Windows, and that I can use the dock to see my active applications, and use the various shortcuts to see my windows, but there's got to be an app that will just always shows my active windows. So if I have Apple Mail Open, and have 3 compose new mail windows going, I would like to see 4 icons or labels somewhere in the menubar or near the dock. I'm on a Macbook Pro - OS 10.6.4
Trying to print from my Macbook. When I print one copy it is fine however when I print multiple copies, the Print manager creates each copy as a separate print job and it takes forever!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst, I am fully aware of the two plug-ins that have both of these features. SafariStand and Glims. I'd prefer not to use SafariStand, and I don't want to use Glims (buggy). I'm not here to debate their merits. The features I want are for Safari's download manager to close automatically, and for all links to automatically open in new tabs.
What I'm wondering is: are there any other plug-ins that offer these features for Safari 4 running Snow Leopard? Are there any tweaks to the system that don't involve plug-ins? As in, are there some terminal commands that can emulate these settings somehow?
1. Turned the List Manager on by accident in Excel. Can't figure out how to turn it off now. I am using Excel 2004, and a MAC mouse - so no right-clicking for me...
2. How do I move columns in Excel? I select the column on top, but then try dragging it to a place I'd like it to move, but nothing happens. How do I do that?
3. General Mac Word/Excel question - how do I get to use "Home" and "End" buttons? When I hit them I simply jump somewhere, but not to the beginning or end of the paragraph. I have a MAC keyboard with the "Home" and "End" buttons along with the "Help", "Delete", "Pg Up" and "Pg Dwn" keys - basically it looks a lot like a PC keyboard...
Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
When downloading small files online they will download through Speed Download. Before I installed Speed Download it would just download through the regular downloading client. How do I change it back to using the regular one as standard? I use firefox btw
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.
I ran clean my mac for the first time a couple days ago. ever since then I have been noticing that random apps won't open. I've only found 3 so far but it's a big problem. they are transmission, pixelmator, and activity monitor. now transmission and pixelmator I can redownload but how do I get activity monitor again.

There seems to be a solution, but I have no idea how to remove this (I do have an external WD HDD). I just don't find anything related to Western Digital.
I let a friend use my computer and was wondering if there is anyway to determine what files she may have uploaded using her own AOL account on my machine. Is there any upload file record or upload manager that can detect all uploads? Is there some sort of MAC OS Up-Load Manager that can show all uploads regardless of what account was used to perform the upload? This might be a Safari question I suppose?
