Mar 27, 2010I would like to fill some cells in numbers conditionally with blank. These cells are in a table which is used to fill one chart. So I dont want the cells to have a value of zero. Alternatively, is there a function which returns the value in a cell?

I have a very difficult time seeing the pale green. I waste a fair amount of time modifying formulae because I'm in the wrong cell. Making it a different color or making it more vivid, or bold, would be great.
Tried going into Apple preferences and Excel preferences, but did not have any luck. Maybe I just didn't do the right thing once there.

Aug 3, 2010I installed iwork 08 and everytime i type the letters come in white. I tried changing the color font and everytime i try putting black it always comes up white but when i do it dark blue for example it shows dark blue, it shows every color except for black.

Feb 20, 2009before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.

Jan 30, 2010In excel, whenever I try to type in a cell, I must press the first key 10-20 times before it shows up. It doesn't show up delayed, as in it shows up with 20 a's, it just shows one. Once the first key shows I can type anything else in that cell, but when i hit an arrow key or click to go to another cell, I have to hit the first letter 10-20 times again. I have to click 10-20 times to click into a new cell as well. This just started today. I've tried restarting excel a few times, but It didn't help.

OR Using software that emulates my mobile number to compose and send SMS?
I remember back in the day you could actually email an SMS to a phone by using their mobile number as a username and their network as the domain - e.g. 07123456789@orange.net. Unfortunately, because pretty much all the networks now provide email services too, doing that nowadays means they will actually receive an email at their online account instead of their SMS inbox.......................

Feb 21, 2010Is there a way to have a cell display text, but behind the text is actually a number figure that I can ask Excel to use in calculations? I'll explain what I mean to give you a visual so you'll understand what I'm trying to do. I want to create a monthly budget in an Excel spreadsheet. I'll have one row for each day of the month, and maybe 3 or 4 columns for in which to put expenditures for each day.
Let's say on the 4th of the month I have a Visa bill due, I usually put gas in my car and I pick up some Dry Cleaning. I'd like to be able to type Visa, Gas and Dry Cleaning within the row of cells for the 4th, and have the dollar amounts for those expenditures hidden beneath the text. Then I'd do a summation formula in the last column to tabulate all of the hidden dollar amounts to give me a total for that day. This way, I can see a total expenditure figures for that day (in the summation column) and what the money went to, without having to do the spreadsheet the old-fashioned way of putting the Text in one cell and the dollar figures in an adjoining cell (which in this case wouldn't work in a columnar sense since the text cell would have to be either above the dollar cell, thus making the text cell in the previous day's row...or, putting the text in say, cell B2, and the dollars in row B3, and doing the same for multiple charges per day, which would make for a very wide spreadsheet.

Example: current cell contains the text "new client" -- I decide I want it to read "new clients" without typing it all over again. Quicktime will play this video, but imovie apparently does not support it. I have found a number of different video apps by searching forums (iskysoft imedia converter, handbreak, mpeg streamclip, applemacsoft video converter) of which only iskysoft imedia converter does what I want to do. The only problem is the trial version does not convert audio and has "evaluation copy" imprinted into the video. The full version costs $50

Apr 27, 2009I've been having a problem with word 08 where every time I try to format a word as bold, the entire document is formatted as bold. When I undo, the document goes back to what it originally was, but the desired text is bold. It seems almost like word formats the desired selection and then does some sort of autoformatting that takes over the whole document, which is why I am able to undo it. Normally it's only a slight inconvenience, but now that I am writing my thesis, formatting is key, and I can't afford to have random formatting changes.

I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.

May 25, 2008I am trying to connect to my girlfriend's father's Macbook, and you can't connect to his computer, but I can connect to her computer on the same network. I looked at the firewall settings and it has checked "Allow all connections," but I dont know what else it could be. Also, in iChat wen I click his name and go to ask to share his screen, that too is greyed out. Edit: I told them to go to the iChat menu video and click screen sharing, but that is greyed out as well. I can screenshare with her, but not him. The connection doctor has Screen sharing and Multiperson video chat Xed out due to a slow connection. So I guess I shouldn't be able to connect to either of the, but I can connect to hers, so I should be able to connect to his.

Jul 14, 2010In Mail preferences I have message font set to Verdana and in the 'Composing' pane I have ensured that messages are sent as Rich Text, and yet I have a persistent and frustrating problem with Mail.app failing to apply font formatting to outgoing messages. When composing new messages everything looks fine (i.e. text displays in Verdana), but Mail isn't applying the formatting to emails; looking at the raw source of sent messages, Mail seems to be sending Plain Text messages with no formatting applied:
