I know chronosync can sync on a timed schedule. What I'm asking is, can chronosync monitor two folders and if something changes in one automatically update the other?
Example: have chronosync monitor my documents folder and a documents folder on an external HD and if I drop a new file in either location it will automatically sync to the other.
Are there any apps out there that will automatically update the contents of my flash drive when I plug it in? I use my thumb drive to keep documents for my classes, like java files for my programming class or papers etc. It would be fantastic to be able to just plug my flash drive in and if I have added a document into certain folders it will copy those files onto my flash drive.
View 1 Replies View Relatedive googled everywhere for this type of process; whether it be an application or a bunch of scripts that would be able to do this, it didnt help me at all and/or i didnt understand it at all. is there a simple application that will allow me to plug in my usb drive and it will seamlessly sync with the "documents" and "pictures" folders, for example. basically, i want it to act like im syncing my iphone with my computer: how it automatically updates every time i plug in my iphone. also, i want the program to update the old files with newer, updated files, whether it was updated on my computer, or from another computer saved on the usb drive. basically (again), i want my usb flash drive to be exactly verbatim with the personalized selected folders on my macbook pro (with the older files updated with the newly modified files).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I have two folders A and B on airport drives. I wish that Folder B be an exact copy of folder A. Chronosync is installed on my computer. My problem is that folder B contains files which are not on folder A. I can't seem to find a setting on chronosync to remove same, I know it should be a simple thing to do.

I think everything is syncing fine but the process takes so goddamn long that I'm wondering if it's normal. The first sync took like 5 hours just as I expected because I have a lot of files. I thought all syncs following that would be shorter, because the program would only look for the changed files right? But it looks like it's analyzing every file again.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a new Macbook Pro for my mum and I need to find the simplest, easiest and most fail proof solution to sync the two machines together. She is an author and works off an iMac in her study and will use the laptop in another room, but also when traveling around. She is a pretty much a computer novice so I need a method where she won't have to do anything or manually sync and won't have any issues with duplicate copies of files etc. If I was doing this I'd definitely be looking at something like Chronosync as I have a large hard drive full of music and video files but my mum only really uses word documents that don't take up much space. The guy in the Apple Store suggested moving all of her documents and files (only about 8GB) to MobileMe and then accessing them via iDisk from both machines. Would this be her best option?

2)I couldnt find any details surrounding downloaing of the hotmail folders from here. I have set up the Mail so i can send and recieve emails sucessfully, but my folders do not get downloaded. Is there a software that will do that for me?

For one, my Mail is extremely slow to type...it would probably take a good 2 minutes for what I just wrote to show up on my message. Another thing, when I click once on my mouse it acts twice...which is really annoying because it opens absolutely everything that I click on. I've adjusted the mouse settings and still, no change. Lastly, it will close boxes for no apparent reason...if I'm viewing a folder, all of a sudden the folder will minimize without me clicking on minimize...I don't know what is going on here or why it's acting up all of a sudden. I use my Mac for work, so it's making it very difficult for me to actually get any work done!

I have an external hard drive with lots of media files, and now I backed this up to an identical external hard drive. I wanted to use Carbon Copy Cloner to mirror any changes made in the original hard drive, but I have now tried this for the first time, after having moved some files around. Now instead of moving those files on the other hard drive, CCC just copied these files from the original hard drive, something that takes much longer. Is there any program that could do this more intelligently? (moving files on the backup drive instead of copying them over from the original drive again?)

I have two 1TB WD Blacks... One I want to use to store all my videos... The other I want to use to backup the first... What are my options? The stuff on this drive rarely changes, but there are times where I will burn several DVDs at a time to the drive... I do this in order to play them wirelessly through my AppleTV...
My main drive is backed up using the TimeCapsule.
Several applications on my mac keep uninstalling themselves, even whilst In use. For example: I was using firefox, then navigation bar seemed to lock up, so I quit Firefox, then it removed itself from the dock bar - I looked in my applications folder and it was no longer there? Had to download and reinstall to get it working again. Was using photoshop CS4, click 'save for web' and a popup told me it was unable to export as file didn't exist? So I saved my file i was working on, quit photoshop, looked in my applications folder and the entire CS4 package was missing?
To restore this, I opened Time Machine, and found that it had been missing for 3 hours, so restored the Adobe suite (7gb) and it now works again. This has happened to about 8 applications now, cyberduck, carbon copy cloner, adium, appzapper, automater, firefox, adobe? I've ran a disk check on my hard drive and all seems fine, no errors found. I'm also experiencing complete freezes every so often where I'm forced to hold the power button down to turn my mac off and then reboot it - all since this error started happening. I have a Macbook Pro, 17" 2.4ghz, 4gm ram running OS X 10.5.7

I just did a zero delete on my computer and only have CS5 master suite and Lightroom on my computer now (MacBook Pro 2010). I have 2 external harddrives I'm using. Both are 1TB. I have the Master drive with everything on it, and I want to use the 2nd drive to keep an updated copy of everything. Then I have a 3rd Hard drive, that I want to backup the 2nd backup and keep that off site. What is the best way to go about this?

I recently acquired a new to me 2009 13" MBP. I want to mirror all the applications (essentially everything on the computer) from my 15" MBP to the 13". What would be the best way to do this, should I use carbon copy to mirror my computer onto the drive and pop it in the 13" or should I use a time machine backup of my 15" system on a new drive and put it in the 13"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a Seagate Free Agent Go Flex External drive. I transferred all my files from my previous external HD. When I went to access my folders on my external HD, the folders are all locked, with Sharing and Permission section in the Information "Everyone: Read" only! I can't change any of the information or move things! All of them are locked and "read only." I know how to change it, but only manually, individually. I have several hundreds of folders and I don't want to manually change all of them to "Read & Write." Is their a way to let me re-set the folders to "Read & Write" easily??
