how to use Snow Leopard's Chinese handwriting recognition
View 9 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine is interested in snow leopard because of the chinese handwriting feature. He has one of the original white macbooks. Will it work on that model or is it limited to the macbooks with trackpads that can do the 4 finger swipe?

View 12 Replies View Relatedi just basically screwed it up. When i started writing it i first saved in .odt and later i saved it in .txt and unicode format. I thought everything's gonna be fine so i deleted the .odt files and had cleared the trash bin but that's where the nightmare began.
I went to the printing shop to get the essays to be printed but their windows computer couldn't "read" the chinese characters and it all turns out as "?" sign. I thought it was only a windows problem but when i went back to open it in my MBP, it's all "?" too. So i quickly installed a data recover program and i am just praying that i can recover the .odt files I would be dead if my essays are totally lost. Anyway, the question is: What extension is best to save a Chinese word document? AND, I just deleted the .odt files yesterday, do you think there's still a chance for it to be recovered?
I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.9.4. I have activated [Pinyin - Simplified] in my input sources, and I have activated the option for TrackPad handwriting. Typing the pinyin and choosing the right character works fine, but I haven't been able to input chinese characters into any document via the trackpad writing method. I am able to pull up the "slate" thing, write, and choose a character, but the character just doesn't show up in the application. I've tried it with TextEdit, Word, and Safari.

I recently purchased a DANE-ELEC Zpen, I now realise that while it will capture my handwriting as an image it does not convert my handwriting to digital text when I use Mac OSX. It has this functionality on a PC. I wonder is there some software available for Mac OSX that could convert handwriting to text. With the Zpen the files are saved using the extension.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am unemployed in the IT world and would like to learn Mac OS X Server so I can enhance my self worth. The 500 dollar classes are a bit pricey for me right now and was wondering if there are any Mac OSX server videos I could buy to train me to take the certification tests? Do you have to go to the Apple classes to become an Apple certified technician?

I purchased a Mac Pro two years ago and had additional ram installed at COMP USA (had an APPLE dealer in the store) The ram upgrade gave me a total of 9 gig. When I check (About This Mac) it confirms the 9 gig of ram. I was setting my preferences in Adobe CS 4 and when allocating the percent of ram to be dedicated to CS4 my choice was centered around 3 gig. Same as my Mac Book Pro. I elected 70% of 3 gig of ram.
Does anyone use the Speech Recognition features built into OS X?
I recently spilled coffee on my mid 2010 2.4ghz macbook pro. After drying out, the computer worked fine, although the battery was not recognized. Since apple does not cover water damage i bought a replacement battery and installed it today. After starting up the problem is not solved. there is still an X through the battery indicator and if i unplug the laptop it shuts down instantly. When i turn it on, the status LED on the front blinks 6 times before the laptop actually boots up. I have reset the SMC, NVRAM and PRAM.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
Is there anyway to log on with voice recognition? Like if the password is "Apple", it will only log on to your wave pattern?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI try to 'calibrate' it and have repeated the stupid lines time after time, clearly and slowly in a quiet environment, but they never flash or indicate that it is calibrated.
How many of you use the Speech Recognition built into the iMac? And of those who do use it, do you use the built in mic or do you use a 3rd party microphone?
I have a Javascript file that detects key codes, but it is set to react to Windows keyboard keys. How would I adapt it to work with a Mac keyboard? Code: // Hotkeys document.addEventListener('keydown', function(e){ if(e.shiftKey && !e.ctrlKey && e.altKey){ switch(e.keyCode){ // Edit styles with Alt+Shift+E case 69: editStyles(); break; // Unblock elements with Alt+Shift+U case 85: unblockEle(); break; // Block element with Alt+Shift+B case 66: blockEle(); break; // Unblock latest element with Alt+Shift+L case 76: unblockEle(true); break; // Block elements (don't use nth-child) with Alt+Shift+W case 87: blockEle(true); break; } } }, false); The Alt key is the problem. I guess the Alt/Option key on a Mac keyboard is not the same as the Alt key for Windows. What name would I give to have that key recognized?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI live in China, its great, but I hate the firewall. Ever since they blocked Youtube, I've been trying to get a good connection to a proxy server. I still have not found a good enough proxy to watch youtube. So I am looking for a paid VPN, but I don't know what would be the best to go for. Since my connection in China is bad enough I need a VPN that doesn't slow down my connection any more.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat is it with Apple and still not having implemented automatic recognition of external display when hooking up to the MBP. Seriously? Do we really need to close/ open the lid in order to shut off the MBP screen. Why does it work in Windows (via Bootcamp) and not in OS-X? I was hoping this would be fixed in SL but still no.
My co-workers use Chinese Windows on their PC and when they send me a document, my Mac interprets some Chinese characters as garbled. If I copy that garbled text and place it in Chinese Windows, it can be read fine.
Is there some kind of setting I can change or software I can install on my Mac so I can read all Chinese characters perfectly?
I have a wacom tablet connected to my Mac and I can use the Ink application to write English characters.
Is there a way to write Chinese characters on the Mac?
Not sure if this is the right section or even if someone else has listed it, but the video on the link below (UK broadsheet 'The Times') shows a new Mac trojan. Good commercial for Sophos anti-virus too of course! [URL].
