i'm in my second semester as a college freshman and my life is packed with so many things to do, places to go, assignments to turn in, dates to remember, etc. I'm also a very forgetful person.
What is the best calendar application (paid or nonpaid, doesn't matter as long as it helps me out) for the mac?
I've activated icloud and its caused problems with my calenders. if i stop it will i loose all my calender events. Its duplicated and removed some for my mobile devices.

I used to use Sony's picture motion browser when I had a PC and that worked wonderfully - I loved the calendar feature where I could see pictures on a calendar according to the date.
I hate iPhoto--it is way too restrictive, restructures my files, copies my files without asking me/etc..so I want to avoid using something like that.
I have to clean up my calendars in ical.app. At the moment, there are around 10 different calendars mixed from fragments of an Outlook import, mobile phone import, Entourage fragments, new ICal calendars. Can I display all events of a calendar at once in a list, to mark and delete unimportant or double events? Is there a easier way, to edit multiple events from one calendar to another (I have to export a calendar, delete it after export in ical and import it in the calendar, I want it to live in)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedA year ago I tested Spanning Sync for syncing my iCal with Google calendar. It worked out very well and I subscribed for one year (25 USD). Now there is version 2 around the corner that will add contact sync support. I have tried the beta and that works very well too.
My subscription is to end soon and I am thinking about extending. That would be another 25 USD for a year or 65 USD for life long subscription. Meanwhile I encountered another product called Busy Sync. I does almost the same (except contact syncing). With a coupon a single license per computer is 20 USD aka 40 USD for both of my macs.
I wonder if the audio problems on the Mac Pro affect all Macs? My MBP shows coreaudiod pegged at 6.9% when I'm completely idle, and of course not emitting any audio.
Why is coreaudiod so busy doing nothing?
Changes to my iPhone calendar do not change the calendar on my desktop.

Our 1.5 year old iMac (20" iMac, 2.4GHz Core 2 duo, otherwise known as "iMac 8.1") has started to act really strange: the busy "beachball" popping up all the time, things lagging behind or being very unresponsive (e.g. I might access an application's menu or press a window button and won't get any response until a minute later). Booting is also an issue: often times the white screen which appears with the startup chime stays there forever with that spinning circle. Other times all seems well and the Finder desktop with the dock appears, but the Finder menu bar never shows up (or appears 20 minutes later!). I've also had instances when a large folder icon with a question mark on it appears right after the startup chime (I take it this means that a bootable drive isn't found or isn't working).
Strangely there are instances when everything works as it should. But something is obviously wrong with it. So what else have I tried in order to rectify or indicate where the problem lies:
- reinstalled MacOSX from the DVD while keeping the user data
- reinstalled MacOSX from the DVD, completely erasing the internal hard drive first (I've back up my user files on an external Time Machine hard drive)
- run "Apple hardware test" from the MacOSX installation DVD. No indications of damaged RAM.
- removed the 4GB memory upgrade (two 2GB DIMMs) and replaced it with the 1GB DIMM that came with the iMac when we bought it
- ran "Disk utility", checking the drive for errors, SMART status and permission issues
- booted into Safe mode (CMD-S while booting), then entering: applejack AUTO restart to do a deep fix/check of the drive
- done several PRAM resets (CMD-ALT-P-R while booting up, a couple of times after each other, repeating the startup chime)
I'm trying to restore an old Hard Drive image OS.dmg to a usb hard drive that I have. I'm using the command: dd if=/Users/Shared/OS.dmg of=/dev/disk5 bs=1m. And I'm getting, dd: /dev/disk5: Resource busy. What would cause this error? I'm not sure why it's "busy". I get the exact same thing when I try to do it in Disk Utility.

This problem started a few days ago. This install is 16months old and running with no problems until now.
in the morning I wake up to a blank screen (normal) however it will not wake up from sleep I have to do a hard reset. If I put the computer into sleep it will wake up when I want it to. So I think it is when its been idle for a few hours or more.
also I noticed that the Menu bar time is frozen and when I move the mouse over the icon I get a busy Icon. I've tried to run Activity monitor, or disk utility while the menu bar is frozen but they are unresponsive and will not load
I turned off sleep last night and woke up to the mac working ok, but I still have the menu bar problems.
I have let it run 24 hours and still would not restart. The only way i can shut it off is holding down power button. Its a pain to have to do this any time the imac needs to restart. The screen just shows the swirling wait circle and nothing ever happens.

When I hide a Google calendar from the calendar list online, the calendar continues to show up on Mac OS X Mavericks Calendar. How can I get that calendar to not show up in Apple's Calendar without completely deleting it from my Google account?

Now when I try printing again through either textedt or another program all I get is this message: "Network host 'XXX.XXX.X.XXX' is busy; will retry in 5 seconds". I have put a legal (from a friend who no longer has it installed) copy of OSX 10.4 on it, but when I try to send the registration it says Apple is busy/or I couldn't connect to the internet. I am connected via a LAN and can browse and the like. I try to register by connecting via a modem and it connects, talks with Apple, thinks, and then says Apples is busy/or I couldn't connect to the internet. Am I doing something wrong? The machine is working fine, but I think I can't get updates until I register?

I'm having trouble formatting the page to the same size as some reference books I'm using (Watchmen, a couple of other paperbacks the same size). I have computed the page format size based on the 72 pts per inch to what appears to be the standard 10.25 x 6.625, but when it prints it's significantly smaller.
I realize I need to create the book in a format size that will be available with the book on demand printing I anticipate using- The Watchmen book appears to be roughly 10.25x 6.625, the size listed on Lulu for Comic book size. How to set up comic life page to be same size?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI love Aperture 3. I really do. It can do many things that take much longer to do in Photoshop. However, Aperture 3 COULD NOT BE SLOWER. Does anyone else experience this? I feel like I'm switching back to Vista every time I open it. It makes me want to throw my Macbook Pro at the wall. Also, ever since I installed Aperture 3 on Mac, the REST of my Mac is much slower, even when Aperture 3 isn't even in use. I don't understand it.I really hope that an update addresses this issue.

Upon install and trying to launch iWork or iLife I'm getting prompted for my serial number, and of course the discs do not require a number.Do i have to call Apple or is this a common, easy fix?
