I have added a language under the first tab, Language, only to find that there is no correspondingly supported input option under the fourth tab, Input Sources.
I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.

I would like to edit my o , u , and a keys to create ??d ä ¨alt + u = ? + o = ?tc...) Is this possible? It's a bit annoying switching between the different keyboards when I would like to make an umlaut.

When I go to copy something that is fine but when I paste it no matter how many characters I have pasted I get a one star character. For example if I copied this text. This is what I get below when I paste it. I don't think that i changed anything in my settings. My Macbook is only a little over a month old 2.4ghz 4 gigs ram OS 10.5.4.

Sep 29, 2010I spilled alcohol on macbook keyboard, so I bought and just received a wireless keyboard which I paired with my computer, but the shortcuts at the top of my keyboard aren't doing what they should be doing. I went into system preferences and was able to change it so I can change the brightness, but from F7 to F12, where you are suppose to be able to change the song, play/pause, mute and turn the volume up and down, it does other things. I've tried adding an application to my keyboard shortcuts, added iTunes and then wrote "Volume Up" and set it to F12, and "Volume Down" and set it to F11, but it didn't work. Is there certain words I have to put for it to work?

May 24, 2012Just bought my first mac (macbook air 11") and i bought it second hand.The guy that sold it to me, had the language set to Chinese. I cant read Chinese so i asked him to change it to English, which he did.He also left a lot of his personal information on here, which is not wise, but i am a nice guy and attempted to do a system restore. The whole restore menues were in Chinese but i managed to guess my way through it and now it seems to be doing a restore. I know the language can be changed once in the OS, however how do i do this for the restore partition?

Feb 3, 2008I glanced over the forums but didn't find any similar issues. Basically, Expose, Spotlight and spaces won't respond to any keyboard shortcuts (ie. Pressing F12 doesn't bring up the Dashboard, pressing Fn+F8, F9, F10 doesn't work, F11 won't hide all the windows, Command+Space bar won't invoke the Spotlight search bar, etc). what's really interesting about it is, all of these features are apparently working correctly (ie. Clicking directly on the Spotlight icon will bring up the search bar, using an active corner will perform its Expose function, etc).

Mar 12, 2012I recently ran an update for my Macbook Pro. After the update, the volume keyboard shortcut does not work. I have the setting for the function keys to work like normal function keys so I have to press the fn key to change the volume. This does not work and changing the setting does not work. I cannot add a shortcut either. Whenever I push the shortcut, I get a grayed out screen with a symbol showing that I cannot change the volume. I can still make changes by clicking on the volume symbol at the top of my screen but I really need the shortcut back.

Mar 24, 2008I have given up with the Apple remote on eyetv as I cant get the grip of turning the menu on and off, I keep turning front row on.
I have the small apple wireless keyboard and would rather use this for all my eyetv tasks but dont want to have to use the mouse to operate the remote controller on screen.
In an ideal world I would like to reassign the following keys
F6 - Eye TV menu
F7 - Fast Rewind
F8 - Play/Pause
F9 - Fast Forward

But the keyboard shortcuts only allow me to jump to Spaces 1 - 9 with (Ctrl or ^ - (Space No.)) For example, if I were to jump to Space 8 from any space I would press ^ - 8. However, how do I use the shortcut for 10 - 16? I tried pressing ^ - 10. But it simply brings me back to Space 1 as it recognizes the first digit only.

Mar 23, 2009 I am learning the keyboard and navigation. I have been heavily keyboard-oriented and prefer a keyboard shortcut when they are available. I have looked around for some but am unable to find them. It seems that some things just require the mouse.
An example would be navigating the mailboxes in Mail. Seems there is no keystroke to move up and down to select a mailbox, nor to "expand all" in the mailboxes pane. Instead each flippy triangle has to be clicked, which is quite tedious during my mail conversion process.

Sep 3, 2009I'm using Snow Leopard on an iMac 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo. Anyway, what I'm trying to do is go into Keyboard Shortcuts under System Prefs. and put in an 'All Applications" shortcut for the play/pause command. Is there any way to do this? It says put in the exact name of the command, and when I put in either Play, Pause, or Play/Pause, it did nothing in iTunes. Surely there's a way? I'd really like to be able to do this, as I'm considering switching to an old keyboard soon that doesn't have the play/pause button.
