When Create An Event Directly On ICal / It Does Not Show On ICloud
Feb 13, 2012
I have an IPad2..I run a Windows under XP for work..My Exchange account at work is synchronised with Mail, iCal and Contacts...So i receive Mail without any problems, and my work calendar appears on my iCal. It works fine both mays. The problem is when I create an event directly on iCal, it does not show on iCloud, as when I create it on iCloud, it shows on iCal without any problem. And even tough it appears on iCal, when created by iCloud, it does not show on my work PC (I understand that it does not come directly from iCal so it's normal, I think, that it does not show at work). The exact same thing happens with contacts. So despite the fact that everything is under IOS 5 or Lion, and everything is selected regarding iCloud, absolutly nothing shows on iCloud, except my own adress in Contacts.
My wife and I subscribe to each other's ical calendars via iCloud and it's been working fine since first set up months ago. Suddenly today, she got a ton of emails after I updated and added a bunch of events in my calendar. This hasn't happened before today. Neither of us changed anything and I know I made similar updates in my calendar earlier in the week that didn't generate emails to her.
Addition of any event in ICal on my macbook (Lion OS) doesn't sync with ICloud, however, if I create any event on iPhone 4s it does get pushed to calendar on MacBook.
how do i get my aol homepage (or any website for that matter) to show up in the menu of sites that always show up directly under my browser bar where i can click for instant access?Â
I am running Lion OSX 10.7.3, and iCal version 5.0.2. When I try to create a new event in any day of the calendar, I get the message: You can't add or change events in the Birthdays calendar.
Events in the Birthdays calendar come from your contacts in Address Book. To change them or add birthdays, use Address Book. I do have birthday events in the calendar. They were created in the Address Book. But I can not add any new events.
Any idea what might be going on? I try to double click a new event. No luck. I try to right click and "get info". No luck. I go to the main bar up top and click on edit, then edit event and nothing. Weird as heck. I did a search in this sub forum, but got no results.
My wife is having trouble deleteing a recurring iCal event. This is under Leopard. The calendar was published on .mac. I took that away. Tried to delete but that didn't work. I can't delete one instance or the entire series of events.
I have entered an event to ical, which repeats itself everymonth.
I want now to erase it.
I click on the event, then I click on Delete in my keyboard. I get a dialog box asking me If I want to delete all future event. I click to OK and the event is not erased. It continues to appear.
I'm trying to fix an issue I had for a while with a automator script I want to use. I added several things it should do, test it, and it works fine. I use it usually as an workflow. But I tried to implement it through an iCal event! Which does not work. (and I checked already in preferences if the turn off all iCal alarms is unchecked) I the workflow basically to open when I first fire up the MacBook, but only once, not when I start it up again later n the day. So I thought about adding the workflow to the startup, but that would open it every time I start my MacBook. How can I get around that? By a iCal event? If yes, how can I fix it, that it starts not at a specific time (I don't start my computer at the same time every day) but when I first open it.
I try not to have iCal running because I've got the Dateline app that stays on my desktop. Mousing over that will give me appts and such as I need to have them.
I've found, that opening iCal and messing with the input screen for a new event is kind of cumbersome, and I'm wondering if folks have found a good way to create new iCal events w minimal interaction with iCal itself.
Today 2.5 offers this as a feature, but it's $25. Macworld also had a tip, but running that Automator action opens up iCal in the background.
I created an everyday reoccurring event in my iphone for one of my summer classes. I unfortunately forget to add which day it ends. Then it was uploaded to ical and then to my google calendar via nemusync on the iphone.
I dont know how it worked out but now I have an event on both my ical and iphone that I cant simply "delete future events". Now I have to delete every single one for 80 something months or something like that.
The question I have is how do I remove a single recurring event. I have tried deleting the very first occurance of the event and it didnt work. I have tried deleting it from the iphone and ical. Nothing works other than deleting each one, one by one.
I use my Mac at work (as well as at home). I have 2 calendars- 'Work' is connected to my Exchange account. 'Home' is synced through iCloud. For some inexplicable reason, when I get a repeating meeting invite from a customer (who is using Google calendar in their company) to my work Exchange mail account the invite goes a bit nuts. Basically the invite goes into my 'Home' calendar and sets me as the meeting organiser! So... now I have a meeting invite, that I cannot remove, in the wrong calendar. If I remove it it threatens to send out meeting cancellations to all (20!) of the attendees! Needless to say I will not be in a good place if that happens! So my challenge to you all- how on earth do I hack this meeting invite out of my iCloud calendar? From searching around there seems to have been an application, called iCalpone, that could do this, but it is no longer available.Â
I'm trying to find a way to have a script create an iCal event for a day away. I use (current date + 1 * days) but this creates the event one day away at the time the script runs. is there a way to create the event one day away at 8:00am each time?
I'm trying to create an event in iCal and invite attendees but I get an alert saying I need to create my email in OSX Address Book. I'm already in there and I've even recreated myself - still no luck. There must be a link somewhere in preferences of otherwise of iCAL to link my email to it - but can't find it.
I have some meeting invitations on my iCal account and want to respond to all invitees on the event through a mail. how to do this. I broke my head a lot on this...
Whenever I make events in ical, it default creates an hour-long event. I find myself using ical's events more as a specific to-do list, so every day I would prefer these events to be "all-day." I'm getting tired having to tinker around so much whenever I make an event on a date, especially when there's multiple on every day. I've read online that apparently in 10.7(lion) that people are having the opposite problem and would prefer for events to be defaulted as a specific time frame.
I've read suggestions to open terminal and type in: defaults write com.apple.iCal 'Default duration in minutes for new event' 15 Which brings me to my question: is there any way in the terminal to change it to automatically make events checked "all-day."
For some reason, the time of my events stopped showing in iCal. I get the event, but the time doesn't show unless I click on the event. The time does show in week view, but I prefer to use month view. This has not been an issue in the past, so I don't know what happened or if I clicked on something accidentally. I tried going to iCal preferences, but I don't see anything that allows me to select "show time in month view" which has been suggested by other usI'm using OS X Yosemite.Â
One thing that annoys me about iCal is that when I hit the shortcut to create a new event, I have to hit another shortcut to bring up the edit window. Ideally the edit window would pop up immediately upon creation of a new event, but I can't find a way to make this happen.
Does anyone know a work-around for this?
Another annoying thing is that I can't just hit Cmd-N to open a new event; I have to make sure I'm in a calendar that can be edited before creating a new event. I don't think there's a fix for this; I think it's just one of those things.
I searched for info about this, but I didn't find anything.
I sometimes like to put times (e.g., 10pm) in the titles of my events. I do this because I want to see the time in the event title for certain events. Apple's ical thinks it knows what I want (it doesn't!) and deletes this information from the title, probably to schedule the event at that time, which is ridiculous because I sent the time of the event when I create it. how to turn this function off.Â

I have the Google Notifier toolbar app installed on my computer and since about two months the Create Event option from the Google Notifier: Calendar link hasn't been working. It keeps telling me there is an error every time it brings me to the page to create a new event.
I am trying to use iCloud calendar services for collaboration with my wife, and my secretary (I actually even bought a mac for my wife so that we could do this). However every time either of them change anything in their respective calendars I get an e-mail from iCloud saying an event has been created. This only started about a week ago. I have checked to see if some of my settings in iCloud have changed, and they haven't (the box in iCloud that says: "E-mail me when this calendar changes" is not ticked). Why I am suddenly getting all these e-mails which are quite irritating.

1) my wife wanted my work schedule 2) to test - I exported it into a file and try to reimport it 3) for every date, I am getting an error message. "the event "Â Â Â " Was rejected by iCloud because it already exists"Â Â => Ignore, try again, revert to server"Â
I probably have several thousand of these, going back years. I can't seem to stop the import - force quit and restart and it starts up again.  I may have just rendered my calendar program totally useless. How do I stop this import.
I have about 30 calendars, one for each bill (and misc). Each bill is set to repeat monthly. In the past, I'd just paste in the confimation into this month's event, tell it to only update that particular one, then it would replicate to all my devices. Since Yosemite, this does not happen. I've lost a lot of information before I caught it.
This is happening on a Mac mini (home Mac) and a Mac I use at work and JUST set up with a fresh install of Yosemite. I have un-synced calendars to my Macs, re-synced, but any updates to repeating events never hit iCloud.com - if I make a non-repeating one-off event, it goes through.
I have made entirely new calendars in case it was the calendar itself, but a brand new one I just made (that repeats on the 1st of every month) wouldn't replicate to iCloud. It will show the data in the event until I close Calendar and re-launch it. Then it's gone, like it never was there.
I've also noticed that on my iPhone 6+ (8.1.1), even though everything is set to Push, I have to manually pull down on Calendars (in the Calendars option) to have it refresh and pull down new calendars and changes. Same thing on the iPhone in regard to repeating events, too. I have great cellular and Wi-Fi connections, so that is not the issue. I feel I'm back in MobileMe days when I constantly had this issue and thought iCloud was a god-send.
