I have an old Mac Book with all my music on it, but will not sync with my iPhone 3GS or let any of my music transfer over. It only allows my music on my phone to transfer to the Library. How can I transfer the music on my MacBook to my iPhone?

I bought an iPhone 4S about a month ago and used iTunes from my old pc to sync songs. More recently, I bought a Macbook Pro. When I try to sync songs into the iPhone through the Mac iTunes, nothing is transferred. The pictures are syncing correctly through iTunes, but songs on the iTunes library are not. What should I do to transfer songs?

I previously had a Macbook with all of my music from my iPhone stored on it. When getting a new computer I logged into my existing iTunes account but not all of the songs that I had on my old computer and phone showed up. I noticed that the songs that aren't on my new computer are ones that were not purchased on iTunes (ex: downloaded from a cd). Is there any way to directly transfer all of the songs that are currently on my phone to my iTunes account on my new computer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Macbook Pro, and now want to put all of my music from my iphone4 to my itunes library on the computer, I cannot do this, so I have made my iphone a device so that I used to be able to "grab and drop" downloaded music into my device of the iphone, however recently upgrading my itunes I cannot do this anymore!

I just upgraded my computer ( new HD and memory) and i am trying to transfer new music from my macbook to my iphone 3g (running 5.1.1) when I initially opened iTunes it had me upgrade to 10.6.3, now I am unable to drag and drop music onto my iphone like I used to. I have checked manually manage music and videos but when I attempt to apply it, I get the message > The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library. As I have just installed a new hard drive and didn't want to transfer over my old info, my drive is empty, if I sync with the contents of my iTunes library, it will erase my phone completely as the HD is new and EMPTY.Is there anyway around this? I used to be able to drag and drop my music from my hard-rive or even straight from iTunes and now nothing happens at all. I'm not sure where the change was made, but is there a way to fix it or get around it? I am also unable to delete songs from my iphone using itunes.

My iPhone 5c used to sync with my old Windows laptop via iTunes and both devices held all music information on them such as iTunes rating, playlist information and the selected songs to be synced (there are more songs on my iTunes on my laptop than my iPhone).  All of these songs are also saved on an external hard drive. None were purchased through iTunes.
When my old Windows laptop died, it died abruptly so I did not have chance to consolidate the iTunes media folder. I have now bought a new MacBook Air to replace my old Windows laptop.
When I plug in my iPhone 5c to my new MacBook Air, when iTunes offers to sync it advises all information on my iPhone will be lost.
Is it possible to transfer the ratings and playlists from my iPhone to iTunes on my MacBook Air, at least for the corresponding songs that exist on my iPhone? Note I have the original songs on an external hard drive so the song files themselves do not have to copy across. All the files in the iPhone exist in the external hard drive.

I can't use iTunes 10 to delete podcasts from my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) when it is hooked up to my Macbook Air (OS 10.6.8).The edit menu shows the Delete command greyed out, and using the backspace key has no effect. I know I can delete individual podcasts on the iPhone itself by swiping sideways. I don't want to do that - I want to delete multiple podcasts from the iPhone at once using iTunes. This has been possible with previous versions of iTunes and an iPod, for example. Not sure why it's not working with the iPhone 4S. Wonder if I'm missing something obvious?

I am beyond frustrated right now. So far my transition to iPhone, iPad, and OS X has been really pleasant and convenient. This is just so beyond stupid though. Here is what I would like to happen:
I download podcasts on my phone while on the road, and I listen to them and delete them at my discretion. When I sync my phone to my computer, iTunes doesn't download any of the podcasts from my phone to the comptuer, nor does it delete them off my phone. That's ALL I want to happen.
Instead, I download podcasts on my phone, listen and delete them at my discretion, and that works fine. But when I sync to my computer, it is just an exercise in frustration. It downloads the podcasts from my phone to my computer/iTunes, even though I have gone through every setting to make sure "sync podcasts" is off. I do not want the files transferred to my limited desktop space. Furthermore, it sometimes decides to just delete the podcast off my phone entirely. I like to leave old podcasts on to re-listen to sometimes.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two itunes libraries, a library of current podcasts and music on my internal drive (ID) (which runs the operating system)Â which is running out of space, and an external drive (ED) with old music (from CDs) that I keep in stoarge for special occassions when I am away from home and I want to play music.Â
The ID and the ED have their own itunes library. Â
I am running out of ID space, so I want to move all my pre-2012 podcasts from my ID to my ED.   I will then have the podcast when I am away from home and I want to play them for myself or others.
How do I transfer just the podcasts dated prior to 31 December 2011 from the ID to the ED?  After I transfer them, i can delete the podcasts from the ID and get more free space. Â

When playing podcasts on my iPhones, the audio skips and scratches and sometimes freezes.  It does NOT do this with audiobooks downloaded from Autible.com or music from the iTunes store or ripped from CDs. I am having this problem on multiple iPhones. The 3GS is over two years old and the 4S is brand new. The software and firmware for both devices is up to date. For these reasons, I don't think it is related to the iPhones.  It started very recently (June 2012). It occurs on the headphone jack and on music systems that connect through the dock. It occurs when using the stock music player application. I am loading the audio files via stock iTunes, which is up to date. I wonder if it is realated to the last iTunes update.

At the moment most of my music is either stored on my Macbook or on an external hard drive. Is it possible to transfer all my music and videos to an external hard drive and then sync it with Itune so that every time I plug it in I can access them?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy daughter bought a new Macbook Pro. When she took her old Gateway computer in to the Apple store for them to transfer her files they told her they were not able to transfer her music files due to corrupt files on the old computer. All of her music she has purchased since about 2005 are on her ipod and phone. Some of the original music she purchased was through an AOL account which she has since discontinued and the rest of her music has been purchased under her mobileme/icloud account. Since purchasing the new laptop, she has not synced her ipod or iphone with the laptop, as we have been told that she will potentially lose all those songs which were purchased under the old AOL account, which is probably better than 50% of her songs. What is going to happen to her music if she snycs the ipod or iphone with this laptop?

I can't add music to my iPhone 4s using iTunes on Macbook Pro. I can add the music to my iTunes library though. When I drag the music to the iPhone, it just kicks it back out. I can add music to my iPhone using iTunes on a PC, so I don't understand what the problem is. I am using the latest version on Lion and the latest version of iTunes.
